what are solar return and progressed charts? i looked at my solar return chart last night, and it didn't look very good . i am wondering what all the squares towards the seventh house mean.

A Solar Return gives you an idea of what your birthday will be like for the year beginning with your birthday.

A progressed chart is where you have grown from the time you were born.

When I looked at your Solar Return, I only saw one square to Jupiter in your 7th. There was one opposition to it too. Since it was Jupiter, it's not that bad. I prefer the opposition to Jupiter than a trine because a trine to Jupiter makes you lazy, whereas the opposition makes forces you to get off your butt and get something accomplished.

The only book I've glanced at that had any decent information about Solar Returns is called Predicting Events with Astrology but I don't remember who wrote it. I bought it once but it disappeared before I could read it so I guess I wasn't meant to read it at this time.

Might you be referring to "Easy Predictions With Solar Returns" by Deanna Rose of Colorado? I imagine it is long since out of print, but I think it is the best one ever written, mainly because she puts it all into perspective...
