I started reading a new Dean Koontz book yesterday -
The Door to December. Actually, it's not a new book but one that was published years ago under a pseudonym and recently reissued under his real name.
Like many of his books, it deals with the dark side of human nature as manifested in the will to control and dominate others - and the rising of the human spirit to meet the challenge. I read the new "Afterword" that he wrote to this edition before starting on the novel itself, and wanted to share with you an observation he makes that I think is at the crux of what we're stumbling toward:
quote:
None of us can ever save himself; we are the instuments of one anothers' salvation, and only by the hope that we give to others do we lift ourselves out of the darkness and into the light.
Yes, Mr. Koontz, thank you!

It is surely important to identify what is wrong with the world, including the failures and deliberate assaults of the elitist power structure that threatens us in so many ways these days.
But no matter how much we know about what is wrong, it will not change until we change our own reality in a fundamental way ... to make our thoughts and values and actions reflect the knowledge that we are all responsible for the state of the world, by the energy we express, the way we treat each other, the way we allow others to be treated.
World Community is not to be built with laws or international organizations or global regulations, and certainly not by "world government." It is to be built, can be built only by all of us loving and caring for each other, and acting to protect and uplift each other at every turn.
Cooperation, not coercion. Love, not laws.
EXPECT A MIRACLE, and then make it happen.
Love,
Greg
