Hi!

I just watched part of an episode of The Nature of Things with David Suzuki (does that show air in the U.S?) Unfortunatley I missed the first half - but what I did see - Dr. Edgar Mitchell talking about the 'quantum holigram' and the corelations between the physical propeerties of man and sub-atomic particles was truely fasicinating! He is one scientist! Talking about how man exisits at one point in the 3-D world, one point in space and time - but how man has 'waves' (or as he said 'spirit') that extend beyond him into an everywhere and everywhen.

Anyone who has a chance to see this show, or see this man speak would probably really find it interesting!

Embark on a journey that begins at a racetrack and takes us to the outer limits of space, as we explore psychic phenomena and parapsychology. On Tuesday, August 20th at 8 pm, THE NATURE OF THINGS with David Suzuki presents, Intuition, a film that explores the realm of the unexplained and looks at how new research demystifies psi-phenomena.

A horse buyer selects her winning choices randomly from a list, using her "gut-feeling." Upon viewing a photo, a businesswoman tells her boss that his wife is expecting a baby. An astronaut communicates telepathically from space with colleagues on earth. These and many other examples of psi-phenomena are examined in the film Intuition.

Dr. Edgar Mitchell, Russell Targ, Elizabeth Targ and Marilyn Schiltz are researchers who are pushing forward the science of parapsychology. Through their collective research they are proving that a correlation exists between physical science and parapsychology. Mitchell supports a new theory called the "quantum hologram." He believes the hologram carries information about every physical object and that all matter contains this property, including humans. The emissions from the hologram are the very element that might explain psychic phenomena. Those with enhanced abilities are able to detect the hologram and therefore sense information that others may not see.

Targ is recognized as one of the world's preeminent parapsychologists. He and fellow Stanford physicist, Hal Putoff, first noticed the peculiar behaviour of sub-atomic particles during their research in advanced laser technology. They discovered that twin photons maintain contact despite great distances. This theory is used to help explain a psychic's ability to "see" and describe distant geographical or architectural targets.

Finally,..the idea of oneness with the universe from the eyes of scientists!

Those concepts have been around for a while, I still don't understand them better concretely though. How can we be less real than a hologram? I've seen hologram galleries, impressive but it's merely crossed images to create a 3D impression.
We on the other end, hand even, are solid, flesh and blood, experiencing pleasure and pain.
In A.Bioy Casares's book The Invention of Morel, the characters are holograms, stuck in an eternal yesterday.
Surely this quantum hologram theory has inspired Kurt Vonnegut's Sirens of Titan.
But are we any closer to the understanding of the truth today?
I mean it's like: "The scientists have discovered the secret of the universe!!!
- What is it?
- A quantum hologram
- Ah.."

I have found that concept very interesting and have been investigating since I first learned about it.. It was the explanantion of how things happen that I was looking for, and it gives me a feeling like finally coming home...

It has been demostrated that the quantum hologram is predetermined within the ether planes of consciousness
preceding or above this current physical manifestation.

Willpower, focused concentration, and unconditional love applied by seekers of truth have demonstrated that all the knowledge in this cosmos is reachable.

The Quantum Hologram is composed of a special essence resonating with an elevated frequency too high for our biological
eyes to see.

The truth is that you and I and each and every variety of existence on this earth and
every other plane are Thoughts of God.

All creatures "think" providing constant feedback to God, and God gives every soul

The reason for this existence is to learn a our spiritual lessons within the Quantum Hologram...

Hee hee Selkie, I hear you. When we hear that scientist have figured out that the Universe is like a giant hologram, it can make you think "so what?" As you say, we don't experience ourselves that way, and a hologram seems filmy and insubstantial compared to the very solid reality we experience.

But the neat thing about this is not that it explains anything in any definite way, just that it helps us understand ourselves and our reality more deeply. Physical reality is NOT a hologram, but it is "like" a hologram in many important ways, therefore it is a useful metaphor for understanding. For example, one of the most important properties of a hologram is that every part contains the WHOLE image. You can take a hologram and tear it into a thousand separate pieces, then illuminate one of those pieces and see the whole image. Doing this gives us a concrete way of understanding mystical concepts like "everything is connected" or "the Kingdom of God is within you." If we can see in a very concrete physical way that this principle can hold true on one level, that makes it easier to grasp that a similar principle can operate in the whole of existence ... that in some way other than just poetic language the entire Universe actually CAN be "inside" each of us!

What discoveries like this do, is to take mystical and metaphysical ideas and give us a way of grasping and understanding them concretely, rather than just by a pure leap of faith. Not that science can ever "prove" mysticism or metaphysics or God, but that it can help us to understand spiritual realities that otherwise seem simply preposterous from a rational perspective! And I think that's a good thing.
