It is said that our thoughts and beliefs create our reality. When we assume an event can happen because if this or that, we literally seed the future with its likelihood.
It is vital therefore, that we become aware of thoughts that we are projecting in time.

When we're low on money, for example, worry arises, we start to plan eventful hardship, we think about what we could cut out, and ways of scaling back. We remember our dentist appointment and wonder whether or not it should be cancelled, we eventually draw some conclusions and put a plan of action into effect.

Now let's analyze the situation from The Universe point of view...

What we've done is sending the signal that we have accepted a certain general outcome and made plans accordingly. We never assumed the money could show up in the next weeks or month, we never assumed that a joyous or satisfying event could occur....

...so we will never experience such an event.

We must stop thinking that planning for the worst is logical and responsible, what it is, is self defeating. It is time to start forgetting or at least minimizing the belief we've been taught since childhood about how to solve problems by analyzing today's facts and drawing rational, but negative conclusions from them.

The acceptance of this line of thinking automatically sets a process that will bring that we fear most: "the worst scenario", the scenario we have played in our minds with our thoughts and emotions. Being that we fear that outcome, by thinking about it, we put on loads of emotions, which "help" and give more energy to it, thus "creating it"

We don't fall into this trap only on important decisions, we do it through out the day:

"Yeah, the day after tomorrow is really going to be a drag, with all the work that's piled up."

"I don't think I can afford a vacation this year because I had to spend so much money on fixing the car and the house roof"

"I am sure there are going to be problems when I tell my kid he can't use the family car this Friday"

"I will surely catch a cold for staying outdoors with that chilly wind"

It is not that we should drop all backup plans, but we must start sensing other probabilities and assuming that the physical reality is based on a very consistent rule that works in our favor once we understand its basis:

"You create your own reality"

I can't remember who the author is but I liked this quote.

"Watch your thoughts they become words, Watch your words they become actions, Watch your actions they become habits, Watch your habits they become character."

(Watch your character it becomes your destiny)

My signature line has a similar thought from one of the Hindu scriptures.

Our experience is formed through our expectations, which are reflected in our beliefs. Thoughts, feelings, emotions and attitudes, all contribute to the creation of our reality. Until we become aware of what we're thinking and feeling, we can't choose to consciuosly change circumstances that are not to our liking.
Beliefs are thoughts held in the conscious mind with emotion, imagination and duration. Our assumption that they are true gives them their power to manifest in our reality, be it good or bad.
We must forget that we have abundant proof that these beliefs are true.
The starting point for the creative cycle is thought, after this thought is held on the mind with emotion and feeling, the mind prepares itself to support the assumption by organizing reality to fit the belief's definition, by forming events that support that belief.

"No matter what it is we believe, the power of the mind will sculpt our reality into a dramatization of the belief"

When we will ourselves to accept only positive thoughts of what our future will be and discard any negativity we will project in time a positive living, thought, feelings, and the life we live in as well as what we can give to others we come in contact with. However, I feel that if we plan for the future either mentally, emotionally and financially to prepare for anything that may happen, I still consider this as a positive approach to life, not a manifestation of something negative happening. What I feel is, we are intercepting any negativity that may arise to protect ourselves-our spirit, achievements and those we love. Here we combine the wisdom and knowledge we have developed during our existence (physical, spiritual and intuitive) to conquer any negative aspect that may come in between to destroy the positive spirit within ourselves that we labored to mold through our own will to control our thoughts, feelings and lives. There are other forces in the universe that are not within our control, positive or negative, and what we can try to do is control our will to protect our spirit and our lives by accepting what is positive and deflecting what is negative. Things we don't want or like happen only when we let it happen and letting it happen, we defeat ourselves, our spirit and our purpose. The crucial balancing flip side of that awereness, however, is the understanding that we create through inaction and inattention just as surely as we do through action and attention. If we see a bully beating up our friend, for example, it is a mistake to look the other way and let it keep happening on the theory that we don't want to think about anything negative. If we are crossing a busy intersection, we don't want to walk out into traffic without looking to see if there is anything coming on the theory that fear of being run over is just a negative thought!

It is not awareness of undesirable possibilities, or action taken to avoid them, that creates an undesirable reality ... rather, it is belief in the irresistable power or inevitability of such possibilities that calls them to manifestation.

We can't comfort a friend who is hurting if we are unwilling to see their pain. We can't bring an end to hunger if we are unaware that there are starving people. We can't manifest a world of justice for all if we avoid knowing that there is much injustice in the world as it is.

But even while fearlessly facing the "negative" dangers and realities in our experience, it IS important to focus positively on our ability to change them for the better ... because in truth we CAN. Love is more powerful than fear, but only when we feed it with our faith. When we believe that bad things are inevitable and there's nothing we can do to prevent them ... there isn't. Then we create what we fear, through our inaction and expectations. But when we are keenly aware of both negative and positive possibilities and choose the positive, then we set the Universal forces in motion to bring about our desires.

Cristina, yes, I agree with you, that there are things that happen for our growth and strength, but when for example, we are aware that money at home is not enough, and we have an idea or project that could help us earn more money and we don't do it, because we are afraid our own abilities are not enough or feel insecure of our selfworth, the situations for the project won't show in our lives. If instead, we are positive we can do it and belive we are capable, things wilol start manifesting in our lives that help us achieve that goal.
It is extremely wonderful, when synchronization starts happening and things develop so smoothly toward our project... it is the Universe helping us manifest our heart's desire!!!

Our beliefs are the most important issue at the time of creating our life, they are the ones that have the storngest force at the moment of manifesting.
I called them "limiting belief", because they limit the experiences we have, they don't let us experience greater things.

By recognizing those limiting beliefs, we can work on erradicating and changing them, in order to experience greater things in life.

Let's make a list of limiting beliefs that are held by many of us, and then we each can recognize our own and work on them through meditation, visualization and most of all, change the belief through our thoughts and emotions, now that we know we can change them!!!

I'll start with some I have in mind now:

No Pain, no gain.
I must work hard for the money I earn.
Suffering is to be expected in life.
I am powerless to significantly change my life.
I'm not attractive or lovable enough to find a mate.
Love comes and goes.

There in our minds, sit our beliefs, many of them unnoticed, implanted there since we were very small, accepted as facts of life...

...are they really facts of life or assumtpions made by humankind through history????

A lot of wise words by everyone on this great thread started by Tish.

These are things I am just beginning to learn and integrate into living. I was reminded recently that our Thoughts, Words, and Actions create our reality.

That means we are here on earth to make manifest into our physical reality by our deeds the things we believe and say.

So it is not enough to just recite affirmations and believe them intellectually--it is necessary to live as if we believe they are already true.

Easy to say, hard to do! At least at first, till we practice...

I believe that it is true that the Universe helps us manifest our heart's desire, and I also believe that the Universe can help us only when we have given it our signal that "Yes, I desire it, I am willing to go for it, and I am doing something about it, guide me, I will listen," and when once we manifest our heart's desire, "Thank you, what can I now do to give/share the wholeness I feel in my heart to another desiring to feel what I have felt and with faith to do what I have set out to do." ...the Universe is ALL that we are and we are all part of it.

This is great. . . Yes, I believe that when we turn blindly away from the "negative" it is usually out of fear. . .Fear is a powerful form of faith. . . So I try not to look away, but nor do I accept the negatives as givens. . . Stare it head on, jump in and believe you can swim, that's my outlook. . . even when it is at its bleakest, just don't believe in it so much that you get stuck.
It has been said that Fear is the opposite of Love. . .

I liked what you wrote, sometimes we do have those wonderful wishes, but we failed to accept them as truths for our life, many, many times, we don't feel good enough to deserve them.
We must work on that too, since little kids, parents as well as teachers and siblings, without realizing it, made us great damamge, by telling us many times, how we were at the mercy of life, or how we were not strong enough, or bright enough etc. etc. and we still have a damaging belief about our selfworth, buried deep withing, but affecting us.

Dear Jenn, Yes, yes, fear is the greatest power against us...fear of success, fear of new things, fear of changes...you name it!! and we turn the head to the side instead of confronting it...
There is a great meditation by Shakti Gawain, in which we visualize ourselves with a sword in the hand, slashing and making the shadow of fear dissapear and then we steping over it and walking ahead, beyond it.
But first of all we must recognize the fear, we have the habit of keeping them at the far end of our minds...we must let them come out... brrrrr!!!!

Do any of you have in mind more limiting beliefs that might be working against us???
