I have heard from El this morning. El said she was caught outdoors twice today when Scud missiles were launched at Kuwait and the sirens went off. She is OK and has sealed a room in her home to protect against the Scud attacks and possible use of chemical or biological weapons. Neither of which Iraq has, according to the Hans Blix Brigade.

El said she is a little shaken but OK. She also said she isn't a chicken. I can attest that El is a Lioness.

Hi Cristina

I don't feel that weeping is negative energy. Depending on what one is weeping about, it can, in itself, be a pure form of prayer. Only twice in Scripture is it mentioned that Jesus wept. Though I am certain he wept more than twice. In fact, the shortest verse in Scripture is: "And Jesus wept." ( John 11:35) In this particular verse, St. John is talking about Jesus weeping at seeing the tears of Mary over the death of her brother, Lazarus, who was also a dear friend of Jesus. The second time that Jesus wept it was upon seeing Jerusalem from a distance and, looking out over the city he wept for his people, the Jews. I am certain that Jesus also weeps over all of mankind at any time of war and that in fact, when we weep, God weeps with us. He also gives us his consolation in our sorrows.

The sorrow I feel is over mankinds inability to love and live in peace with one another. My sorrow is also for the mothers, wives and loved ones of the young soldiers fighting this war. I have three children, two of which are sons but I know that daughters are fighting this war as well. I can empathize with them and their loved ones. William Blake said it better than I can explain it:

Songs of Innocence
On Another's Sorrow

by William Blake

Can I see another's woe,
And not be in sorrow too?
Can I see another's grief,
And not seek for kind relief?

Can I see a falling tear,
And not feel my sorrow's share?
Can a father see his child
Weep, nor be with sorrow filled?

Can a mother sit and hear
An infant groan, an infant fear?
No, no! never can it be!
Never, never can it be!

And can He who smiles on all
Hear the wren with sorrows small,
Hear the small bird's grief and care,
Hear the woes that infants bear -

And not sit beside the nest,
Pouring pity in their breast,
And not sit the cradle near,
Weeping tear on infant's tear?

And not sit both night and day,
Wiping all our tears away?
O no! never can it be!
Never, never can it be!

He doth give His joy to all:
He becomes an infant small,
He becomes a man of woe,
He doth feel the sorrow too.

Think not thou canst sigh a sigh,
And thy Maker is not by:
Think not thou canst weep a tear,
And thy Maker is not near.

O He gives to us His joy,
That our grief He may destroy:
Till our grief is fled and gone
He doth sit by us and moan.

May God bless the soldiers and their loved ones and grant them strength and consolation. And may God bless our world and grant us peace.

Love, Connie

Peace and Love

Another message from El. She says Kuwait City looked like a ghost town today. She is OK but the emergency sirens have been going off all day.

She had this message.

Say thanks to Donna, Rainbow and Connie! I do need some positive energy.

Please tell El that I continue to pray for her and her loved ones and all the people of Kuwait. Every time I watch the news on the war I think of her when see the footage of what is going on in Kuwait. Must be so very scary for her and all Kuwatians. I know you are strong El, hang in there, girl.

Hi guys!

Today the Internet is a little bit faster, thank God!

From yesterday a series of missile attacks from Iraqi forces sent shockwaves across the Kuwait city and triggered some scenes of panic, especially among foreign journalists in Kwt hotels who scrambled for masks and chemical warfare every time the warning sirens began wailing across the city, from 12:30pm (09.30 GMT) yesterday, there were 9 warning sirens until now, 8 of them were the real threats!

At least 6 Scud missiles were fired on northern Kwt, some of them were intercepted by Patriot missiles over Kwt Bay on the northern rim of the city. Others were different types of missiles.

The siren sound is awful!!! Very scary!!

Police cars and armoured vehicles were cruising the streets, broadcasting the messages by loud speakers, saying to citizen to stay indoors. There is still no official curfew.

Gas masks have become a new fashion statement in Kwt!!

Now it is close to 7pm kwt time, the streets are empty, people are in front of the televisions.

Today so far only 2 sirens went off, again scud missile attack. We're all praying to God that Saddam will not use chemicals.

We're scarred a little bit, but what we all want is the end of Saddam and his regime as soon as possible.

Well, let me put it this way, we're tired, excited and nervous awaiting the fall of the tyrant!

Thanks everybody for your positive energy, I can actually feel it, my family and friends all over the world are sending me messages and calling me and praying for us here. It means a lot!

God bless
El

Thanks for the update, El, glad you're still safe! (Well, maybe safe is the wrong word where you are, but at least unharmed.) Good news that so far there don't seem to have been any chemical or biological attacks ... prayers that it stays that way!

Love,
Greg

Elenora....what a relief to hear from you....

You definitely are in my prayers.....

Watching the war from the TV in my living room, many, many miles from the action, is mind boggling, and unnerving....so I can only imagine what you are experiencing....

Hang in there El....we're praying for you...

Luv,
Rainbow

EL!!!!!!!! (((HUG)))

I sat here last night for almost 3 hours trying to log on....and everytime I managed to get here...it would freeze up and I'd lose my connection.... ....so I spent most of the evening praying for you....and having the heebie jeebies scared out of me by the news!

This is proof of how small the world has become since the advent of the net...when someone you care about is in the middle of it...even so far away...it makes it all VERY personal.

I found myself hoping, like you, that we can just get rid of the whole Hussein family...and get on with Peace....

As much as I am against the war...ANY war.....now that it has started....(my nephew Brandon is one of the 'action figures' that go with the war games..... I know he is on the front lines)....and there you are in Kuwait.....well...it's just so damn close to the heart.

You keep yourself safe......and honey, you can trust that the Love you are feeling from us all....is really there. Wrapping you up in Angel Wings! (((HUG)))

Greg....My Moon and Stars bankee is around my shoulders...
(Lisa has one exactly like it! )...my incense is burning...my candles are lit.......and I have cookies.

and Peace!

El, It's so good to see you here and know that you are okay.

I have been watching the news every chance I get during the day and in the evening. I heard that the patriots were doing a good job of knocking out those scud missles headed for Kuwait and I was relieved to hear that.

I saw some really touching things on the news early this evening. Much as I hate war, and I don't think anyone really likes war, I felt pride in our soldiers. The news showed the marines after they had taken one of the towns and the people there were coming up to the marines with big smiles on their faces and thanking them. One Iraqi man kissed a marine on the cheek and the marine got a big smile on his face. That was so touching. Seems to make it all worth while. A marine was tearing down Hussein's picture from a side of a building and one of the Arabs jumped up there and started hitting Hussein's picture with something he had in his hand.

You are in my prayers and all of our prayers, El. I hope it's all over soon. I think it will be. I heard on the car radio while I was out tonight that a whole Iraqi division surrendered to the marines today, 8000 of them at once! Even the commander. That must have really overwhelmed the marines. And one Iraqi soldier that surrendered today did not even have shoes on his feet. They were all hungry and thirsty too.

Love, Connie

I hope you are and remain safe. I can't imagine what it must be like being so close to a hostile nation, let alone a war. The closest I can come to an experience like this is stupid local events in and around my town.

Hopefully it'll be over soon.

Thanks jwhop...thats nice of you to say, but I hardly have any worries in comparison to El and Brandons Mom and Dad....

I hope this is over soon.

3 different guys from our church are there too.....it's a scary time....but there's no sirens here...I can escape by turning off the tv......El can't.

Neither can Brandon....

Connie...I saw that same clip...it was very moving.....

and Peace......

Hello from Kuwait!

Today, so far only once the sirens went off in the evening, last night we were surprised by sirens around 11.30pm. The whole night was uneventful. Thank God for that.

I appreciate your support guys!!!

Today I'm going to send you a letter to Pres. Bush from a Kwt columnist, Fuad Al-Hashem, he wrote it for Al-Watan daily Friday.

"TO his excellency, the President of the United States of America, George W. Bush.

Dear Sir,

First of all I would like to present you an old Iraqi song well-known to most Iraqis. This song says, "I love you and I love anybody who loves you" simply because your decision to liberate Iraq has risen you to level of your father, former president George Bush, when he issued a historical decision to liberate Kuwait. Unfortunately in both cases the occupier is the same, the regime of Saddam Hussein.

Mr President, over half-a-century ago, Kuwaiti citizens sailed aboard their wooden boats to Basra to bring potable water from the Arab estuary because at that time our country was in imperative need of this water.

However we suffered patiently and dealt with these circumstances, before the discovery of the 'black gold' in our country. Following this development, we rushed to build water desalination plants in our country to meet requirements of our people.

Although the cost of one liter of water exceeded the price of gasoline, all of us believed a human being in Kuwait was more precious than water and oil. As such we employed all our resources for the sake of our people's welfare and freedom.

Mr President, neither you nor the American people, or for that matter even the people of Kuwait, may not believe we implemented a water pipeline project stretching from one of our water desalination plants to Umm Qasr of Iraq with a production capacity of 1.5 million gallons per day.

This project, Mr President, was designed to provide our Iraqi brethren living in the periphery of the Arab estuary with potable water. Not just that, this project became operational immediately following the enforcement of your decision to strike the Iraqi regime.

Mr. President, can you and our Arab brethren believe that Kuwait which is most arid is providing the Iraqi people with potable water although Iraq boasts of three big rivers?
At this moment the Iraqi people are suffering from a shortage of drinking water and this can be attributed to Saddam Hussein's mentality and his hatred for beauty. As such, Iraq under the rule of Saddam Hussein has been transformed into a cemetery.

Mr President George W.Bush, the same manner in which Kuwaiti people revere your father, I am positive the people of Iraq will engrave your image in their hearts and decorate the walls of their homes with your picture.

Mr President, we the Kuwaitis and the Iraqi people are the victim of the same man. We and the Iraqi people have been rescued by a 'man' and his 'son'. Thank you Mr President."

Exactly my thoughts

El
