Hello Everyone
I have had the thought swirling around for quite a bit to start a poetry thread here. .....it can Be our own little Haven where we share poems and/or song lyrics (which are poetry too )and learn from each other and Of each other.
You need not be poet to join in....perhaps you have recently read a poem or heard a song that touched you in a deep way and you want to share.... or perhaps like me, you dabble in using the wondrous form of grouping words to express thoughts or feelings of your own and want to share them also. I think of each poem or song given here as a gift.....not to critique, but to accept warmly as a cherished extension of Another.
Free-Form ~~~ go with the flow........let's dwelve into the Magic that makes Us glow~~.
So, uhm....here goes.....to start it off I'll share a glimpse into one of my Heart's cherished dreams.
Empty hours
Nostalgia of a sunnier day
My life is timed to the minute
but I long to run and play
and re-discover
the huge, strange World
with different Eyes
Over again
with curious suprise.
A meadow
or a daisy field to run through
with the Wild abandon
that I've lost in empty years.
Little Lisa lies deep inside
Close to the heart
I have kept her
The curious child
with widened Eyes
that I long to be
forever.

I am no poet as you know, Lisa but this song by U-2 is one of my very favorites from their Rattle And Hum album: U2 Love Rescue Me Love rescue me Come forth and speak to me Raise me up and don't let me fall No man is my enemy My own hands imprison me Love rescue me Many strangers have I met On the road to my regret Many lost who seek to find themselves in me They ask me to reveal The very thoughts they would conceal Love rescue me And the sun in the sky makes a shadow of you and I Stretching out as the sun sinks in the sea I'm here without a name in the place of my shame Love rescue me In the cold mirror of a glass I see my reflection pass I see the dark shades of what I used to be I see the purple of her eyes The scarlet of my lies Love rescue me And the sun in the sky makes a shadow of you and I Stretching out as the sun sinks in the sea I'm hanging by my thumbs I'm ready for whatever comes Love rescue me Yea though I walk through the valley of shadow Yet I will fear no evil I have cursed thy rod and staff They no longer comfort me Love rescue me Sha la la sha la la Sha la la sha la la I've conquered my past The future is here at last I stand at the entrance To a new world I can see The ruins to the right of me Will soon have lost sight of me Love rescued me Love, Mom

Alright... I'm going to do a little freestyling for you ladies and gents tonight...
Run run as fast as you can
You can't catch me,
I'm the One Act Whoa-man.
Faster faster I scurry
Until all around me
The world becomes blurry!
Panicky panicky I do become
Then it all comes down
I start to feel numb.
Falling falling off the horse
Will anyone be there
To set me back on course?
Confusion confusion is me
God is all squiggly
Upside down and crazy???
Foolery foolery of the mind
Plans aren't sticky
Not staying to my clever design.
Plunging, purging to my final goal
Patience is a virtue
It doesn't sit on my soul.
Yes... That's precisely what I've been feeling like lately. Makes sense to me.
*hugs* for all!!!

Hey! We're groovin' along nicely now. One of the great one's from U2 there.......I remember hearing that when Bono first presented those lyrics to B.B. King, he looked them over and then said to Bono, "You're too young to write these words. " Carrie....you got a way with free-stylin' Cool, that's the way....just release those feelings as they come in words...and that feeling is captured forever in Time. ~ The Poet ~ --Kahlil Gibran He is a link between this and the coming world. He is a pure spring from which all thirsty souls may drink. He is a tree watered by the River of Beauty, bearing Fruit which the hungry heart craves; He is a nightingale, Soothing the depressed Spirit with his beautiful melodies; He is a white cloud appearing over the horizon, Ascending and growing until it fills the face of the sky. Then it falls on the flows in the field of life, Opening their petals to admit the light. He is an angel, sent by the Goddess to Preach the Deity's gospel; he is a brilliant lamp, unconquered by darkness And inextinguishable by the wind. It is filled with oil by Istar of Love, and lighted by Apollon of Music. He is a solitary figure, robed in simplicity and kindness; he sits upon the lap of Nature to draw his inspiration, and stays up in the silence of the Night, awaiting the descending of the Spirit. He is a sower who sows the seeds of his heart in the Prairies of affection and humanity reaps the Harvest for her nourishment. This is the poet -- whom the people ignore in this life, and who is recongnized only when he bids the earthly world farewell and returns to his arbor in heaven. This is the poet -- who asks naught of humanity but a smile This is the poet -- whose spirit ascends and fills the firmanent with beautiful sayings; Yet the people deny themselves his radiance. Until when shall the people remain asleep? Until when shall they continue to glorify those who enable them to see the Beauty of their Spirit, symbol of peace and love? Until when shall human beings honor the dead And forget the Living, who spend their lives encircled in misery, and who consume themselves Like burning candles to illuminate the way For the ignorant and lead them into the path of light? Poet, you are the life of this life, and you have Triumphed over the ages despite their severity. Poet, you will one day rule the Hearts, and Therefore your Kingdom has no ending. Poet, examine your crown of thorns; you will find concealed in it a budding wreath of laurel.

~ ~ Variation on the Word Sleep ~ -- Margaret Atwood I would like to watch you sleeping. which may not happen. I would like to watch you, sleeping. I would like to sleep with you, to enter your sleep as its smooth dark wave slides over my head. and walk with you through that lucent wavering forest of bluegreen leaves with its watery sun and three moons towards the cave where you must descend, towards your worst fear. I would like to give you the silver branch, the small white flower, the one word that will protect you from the grief at the center of your dream, from the grief at the center. I would like to follow you up the long stairway again & become the boat that would row you back carefully, a flame in two cupped hands to where your body lies beside me, and you enter it as easily as breathing in. I would like to be the air that inhabits you for a moment only. I would like to be that unnoticed & that necessary. ~

Great stuff!
I went digging and came up with an old love song of mine from 1971
LOVELY ONE
Here we are my lovely one,
floating hand in hand,
on a sea of emotions
that are shifting like sand.
If I were inside of you,
like I was last night,
could I remember
I'm the father of light?
Love alone will answer,
it has and always will,
but desire is so strong
sometimes I fear it can kill.
Nothing lasts forever,
but for you and I,
you are the valley gate
and I am the sky.
Since you were a rib of mine,
you have captured me,
sometimes I'd die for you,
sometimes I'd die to be free.
Still you are my only dream,
there's no turning back,
I'll follow you
through the heart attack.
Here we are my lovely one,
I'm just trying to
tell you you're beautiful,
and say I love you.
---
Love,
 Greg

~~ At the Speed of Life ~~ Once I was a single guy with lots of hopping bunny, Once I was a wealthy man and didn't need no money, Once I was a married man and didn't need no honey Now I am single again and drive a pick-up truck, Now I'm so broke from years work it really kind of sucks, Now married life is just for, ... sex But what the heck, My spiritual life has taken a trek, My soul is on a roll, Even though, my nerves are making me a wreak Life is sweet by very short, Take it from me and don't bother to court, Mistakes are now just paperwork and very easy to abort, So don't plan a living of building a fort But take a second to clear your throat, Take the minute to tell a joke, And when someone comes along that fits your spokes, Don't wait a week to share a coke

Seize the coke and Seize the day!! heehee.... cool, proxy And touching lyrics there, Greg This one I wrote after one of my cherished nature hikes with my daughter~ ~ Ceri Rose ~ It wasn't quite cool yet An Indian summer day memory captured -- a snapshot in my heart. "Mommy! Mommy! Dragon berries!!" her soul-brown eyes glistened cheeks rosey with that innocent wonder only felt from seeing and feeling for a first time. And I know I'll never again know such joy forever only living in the pictures of my mind, as I held her warm dimpled hand as we wandered, explored and absorbed the blissful touch of our nature adventure -- not knowing what suprises awaited us around each foliaged bend, in a brilliant green Eden, reflecting the Gold in leaves of sunset. And I'll forever cling to that instant in my heart ..... her forever 3 years old; her bright smile and happy heart a frozen snapshot warming my soul for an eternity. "Mommy! Mommy!", she cried out to me, as I cried cherished tears for the child she'd forever be.

... hello again..... some words inspired by a warm and sunny spring day. I awoke with you this morn, Apollo Yellow Eastern Warmth A smooth declaration of Hope Re-inspiring lost, frozen dreams Your overwhelming Light Ressurecting the power From their dark, hopeless Sleep ************************************* Darling, I've waited for you for a thousand years In this dull, polished amber, held back the tears The highways eclipsed me The meadows grew far Time, a bereaved brethren of afar How I pace back the miles retrace every step, all the while the sacred memory of your soul, held warm against my heart.

" If you like this poetry thread, you might enjoy also (my love) in lovers garden " I couldn't help myself, I had to plug my thread cause I miss seing new love poems there! Here's my contribution for this fun thread: --------------------------------- "The path to freedom" Taratila, taratatila la la la la... Step out, step up, step in Skip a little and take a leap of faith. Hear the birds, hear their song They worry seldom about right or wrong Smile to him and her and them As well the old and the little ones they are alone Alone is good but don't feel lonely For you never walk without a body they walk with you Spirits, fearies, elves and angels When darkness fills your heart they light a candle! Whispering words like star dust they trinkle and settle on your ear so do not fear there is no death for there is no birth Just an eternal and continues breath that is you nothing unreal exists, so dance the dance at once Angles will dance with you Taratila, taratatila la la la la... Step out, step up, step in Skip a little and take a leap of faith.

Hi All! Don't have a poem to contribute, but I'd like to share my favorite scene from one of the books I read. Hope you guys will enjoy it as I did ... from Manly P. Hall's book, " Freemansonry of the Ancient Egyptians"...There is a record in the British Museum that Plato received the Egyptian rites of Isis and Osiris in Egypt when he was forty-seven years old. It is the authors opinion that the compliers of this "Initiation of Plato" digested a great amount of ancient lore in the prepartion of their pageant, and that the result is worthy of profound study. This scene is part of the copy made from the scarce and curious masonic publication, "The Kneph".
"INITIATION OF PLATO" ...SCENE SEVENTH
Zais, Plato.
ZAIS: Keep this crown of amaranth and laurel, if not to please me, at least to be agreeable to me; I see in it the symbol of your glory, which will traverse centuries.
PLATO: Ah! this is to forget the regard which is due to your prisoner.
ZAIS: No! it is I who am the captive.
PLATO (puts the crown fo Azema on the head of Zais): Let us then be both of us immortals!
ZAIS (placing herself amorously near Plato): Thanks, I will look upon this crow, which you have place on my head, as the most precious, the most dear of my remembrances.
PLATO: Princess! (They hear a prelude.)
ZAIS: Listen to this harmonious chant, will you --wilt you?
(the choir behind the scene gives the following):
Isis! O fruitful nature! Thou veileth night and day Happy in giving the world Health, joy, and love.
Let us celbrate the magnificence Of the most radiant star, To which man oweth existence And the most precious gifts! Oh other suns also, And other inhabited globes, Rejoicing in the dawn, Surrounding us with pleasures.
Isis! etc. etc.
Love is the source of life, The principle of the Universe! The grand law of harmony, Whence divers things are born. To remain to it faithful, Let us guard us with oaths, For love causeth the beautiful To desire new loves.
Isis! etc. etc.
(Music which touches the feelings is heard at a distance during the remainder of the scene.)
ZAIS: Now, dear Plato, tell me what could best please thy heart? Whatever it be thy desires are already granted, for I love thee, and my power is unbounded in this place.
PLATO: I would respond to these cares, so delicate, so charming!
ZAIS (rises and admiringly embraces Plato with her arms): I love thee! let us go to those discreet shades! let us hasten!
PLATO: You seek to seduce me, O Princess, from my duty, and this is not the least formidable of my trials.
ZAIS: Ah, well! I defend not myself! But I am taken in the snare which I laid! I know thy genius, they great works, thy glory, and I love thee; I desire thee to prove it. Fear not! there is absolute secrecy; a favorable spot. Come, come, I say to thee! (she embraces him and takes a few steps.)
PLATO: Enchantress! you are adorable; but at this moment I can only admire you -- you know that well.
ZAIS: I love thee with all my heart, and thou hast nothing to doubt. After having supplicated thee, wilt thou betray me, dishonor me!
PLATO: If your sympathy was real you would not abuse your advantages; you would cease to try my honor. I will regard you with the greatest consideration, and the most tender remembrance.
ZAIS: A distant friendship, a love without tribute, would perhaps console a woman of Greece; to me, Plato, this refusal is an outrage which might cost thee thy life. We are still free and I would not appear to command. Come! I love thee, and implore thee for the last time! Come!
PLATO: Would that I were either Mercury or Apollo; I would espouse you this hour, and transport you to Olympus, where you would be the admiration of the gods. But humble and pitiful mortal, submitting to an innocent temptation, which I know that I ought to resist, I think of the symbol of the tranquil lion in a stormy sky, and that example reassures me.
ZAIS: Ah! well, cruel one, it is not thy life which is endangered but mine! Be generous, Plato, the duaghter of the King of Egypt is at thy feet.
PLATO: Whether you be or be not sincere it is my duty to resist.
ZAIS: Go! thy philosophic insensibility is a small merit, moreover, it causes my death. (she goes out.)
...continued to SCENE EIGHTH...

This is Onederfull. A Site for Sore I's. Open Mic Night at CE.....Beautiful Words from The Special Peoples. Bravo to all who Dare! ahem. A Shadow Dreamed of Being Real....begging for Life not to steal...it's own Precious Breath away. Cast in Clay...sensing movement in it's Still form...what Hope may say to Words that pray, no matter how worn. The body of Being is encased in Seeing, leaving the Sight to the Blind...with nothing but Peace of Mind to find . Enraptured at Life, the Gifts and the Strife...moving into the Pair of One, the Ending has begun. Upon our disCover we seek no other....encircling the Sun the Dream now is done. Holding ourselves in each others arms....releasing the fears that once were our Charms. Shining the Light on the Still Quiet Night, a Shadow dreamed of Being Real and was granted.

Open mic nite and a glorious, enormous, full golden moon hanging in the sky over the Sangres like the golden apples that grew in the Tsar's garden in the story of the firebird...
Whose mountains these are I think I know. His house is in the village, though...
The liberty to freely associate...sweet as a golden apple.
We went out for a lovely dinner. The food was good, the service was wonderful. Our friend's daughter was the hostess, a very nice young man expecting his third baby was the waiter, and then there was the smiling chef who came out a little shyly to offer our little one a rose carved from a tomato. It was just the dearest, nicest evening. And then out into the night where the moon had taken over the sky with her golden splendour! We followed her home and I sang the chorus of Moon at the Window a few times with gathering gusto, trying to prompt the rest to float to mind...
Gimme a little alto sax, jazzy style, behind this...
Moon At The Window
by Joni Mitchell
It takes cheerful resignation,
Heart and humility --
That's all it takes,
A cheerful person told me.
Nobody's harder on me than me.
How could they be?
And nobody's harder on you than you.
Betsy's blue,
She says "Tell me something good!"
You know I'd help her out
If I only could.
Oh, but sometimes the light
Can be so hard to find,
At least the moon at the window --
The thieves left that behind.
People don't know how to love,
They taste it and toss it,
Turn it off and on
Like a bathtub faucet.
Oh, sometimes the light
Can be so hard to find,
At least the moon at the window --
The thieves left that behind.
I wish her heart, I know these battles,
Deep in the dark when the spooks of memories rattle.
Ghosts of the future, phantoms of the past
Rattle rattle rattle in the spoon and the glass.
Is it possible to learn how to care and yet not care
Since love has two faces: hope and despair
And pleasure always turns to fear, I find
At least the moon at the window --
The thieves left that behind,
At least they left the moon behind the blind.
Moon at the window.

When you follow the illusion of physical matter down into its furthest reaches, it actually ceases to exist. The illusion is dispelled. At this point, if you were to take the void of nothingness and flip it inside-out, you would be within the void of Everythingness. We perceive the nothingness only from within the illusion of the physical, so if you were to perceive from outside of the physical, it would be the All, the One. That is also why we can say both that the Universe existed as a point of no dimension and infinite density, and also that it existed as a point of no density and infinite Light. The Zone of Cold, the place of absolute zero, where there is perfect crystallization of energy, is the point of pure potentiality, where anything is possible. It is the exact same thing as the zero point field. Where I shall be as I wish to be is unopposed by even the faintest resistance. At this point, with zero movement of the physical, there is no deception or being trapped by the illusion of the physical and the Being is free to Be as it wishes to be. That is pure potentiality. Love, Connie

....wow....you'll have my mind philophosizing on that for a week now, Mom. Very cool. Where did you find that? Rachel, I have read some of the poems in 'my love' and enjoyed them very much. Much talent there. Sure hope that Ariel will grace us with her beautiful words here sometime. Cristina, Plato had her figured out, ay? I am delighted that you shared that peice with us.....and am happy to see that this thread is growing into being what I had hoped it to be...just free expression of any form, poetry, lyrics, plays, quotes, essays....anything that you felt profound and want to share. ...... open mike night heehee.....maybe I will use that for the title of the next thread. Chahles that poem was very beautiful. And hello Maria. I saw a documentary on Joni's life a few nights ago....was very interesting. She is always growing and expanding..... metAMORphosing Great Lady. Lovely, thought-provoking lyrics there. Well, here's my contribution for the day. Dandelion Dream There was a day of far away Inner awakenings of Fate and Lore Moon-lit dreams awashing Sun-lit shores There was a day of childhood dreams Dandelion fields Mischevious schemes Bandaged and bruised Bumbling, stumbling unaware Reckless with passions, yet untamed by Time's contemplation reflection or feverish care There was a day I swam into the Night expecting Passion's Fire only to find Passion's Fright Gliding through the thickness of apathy, no shore in sight Grasping for the comfort of inspiration's far up away Light. There was a time of understanding and awe Breathing in the stillness of the serene Oneness of All Peace came with wisdom of abandoning the past While opening arms wide to future's unlimited grasps. There was a Time...... There Is There will.... When Time becomes One with the Universe so still There will be a time for us again once more on the wings of eternity on a sunny dandelion shore. ... Blow soft your wish on your dandelion stream. Surrender white downy seedlings of your Heart's purest dream.
