This one concerns showing our support for the Democratic Senators who are fighting and resisting Bush's forceful push to appoint an all Right Wing Conservative extremist Supreme Court which could affect not only our lives but the lives of generations to come.

With our support and encouragement, Democrats in the Senate are standing up and digging in to fight extremist judicial nominations. We must continue to support these Senators when they take up such an important cause. They must not stand alone.

The Democratic National Committee has now joined the fight with a "Supreme Court Countdown" and online petition, and we think it's important to support them too. We've spoken to chairman McAuliffe and he's agreed to deliver our petition comments personally to Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle. He'll ask Sen. Daschle to get your comments to his colleagues in the Democratic caucus as well.

President Bush and the right wing are pulling out all the stops on these nominations. They've even talked about a "nuclear option" -- attempting to change the rules of the Senate to deny the use of the filibuster in the consent process. It's amazing that these politicians would consider destroying the time-honored traditions of the Senate and undermining the "advise and consent" provisions of the Constitution.

It's become clear that the Bush strategy is to steamroll any Senate opposition by focusing first on low-profile appellate nominations, while the public isn't really paying attention.

They're betting the Democrats will fold. Then the path will be clear to packing our highest court, the Supreme Court, with ideological judges. A Supreme Court packed with right wing ideologues is the ultimate dream of the far right, and our nation's worst nightmare.

The Democrats are standing up in this fight, in the face of heavy pressure from the Bush White House. They need to hear our appreciation for this courageous stand and our demand that they hold the line. They need to hear that we understand what's at stake and will stand with them.

As I'm sure you know, these appointments are for life, and these judges make decisions that impact every aspect of our public and private lives. Our actions today will affect generations to come.
