"Twas The Night Before Christmas"

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
while visions of sugar plums danced in their heads.
And Mama in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
had just settled our brains for a long winter's nap.

When out on the roof there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
tore open the shutter, and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
gave the lustre of midday to objects below,
when, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
but a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles, his courses they came,
and he whistled and shouted and called them by name:

"Now Dasher! Now Dancer!
Now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid!
On, Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch!
To the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away!
Dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
when they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky
so up to the house-top the courses they flew,
with the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
the prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head and was turning around,
down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
and his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
and he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

His eyes--how they twinkled! His dimples, how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
and the beard on his chin was as white as the snow.
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
and the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
that shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly.

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
and I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself.
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
and filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
and giving a nod, up the chimney he rose.

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, 'ere he drove out of sight,

"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"

Kitty, Tish, we celebrate Christmas on the 24th also. It has been a traditional event for the entire family as far as I can remember.

About 2 years ago......with Lisa's help....I explored a faint past life memory about tarot cards......and I felt a need to re-aquaint myself to them in this life.

Well...after trying for a bit....I never did find a deck that felt right....so I kind of gave up on it...but also held this feeling that I was waiting for the right time.

Lisa gave me my first...in this life....deck for Christmas......and they feel so right! Now I know thats what I was waiting for.....

and THEN to top it all off........my husband suprised me with Linda's Star Cards.....so I got both all within just a few days of each other!!!!

Now is that timing or what?????

I asked Mark if he had contacted Lisa or Greg about them...but he said he was cruising Barnes and Noble and saw them and figured since they had Lindas' name on them....I'd like them. Silly Goose.....

He was right of course......

But more than that....the very fact...that I waited and wondered ...not knowing for what.....and then both these decks landed in my lap at the same time.....oh the timing!

Just gave me warm fuzzies...you know?

I know Lisa knows what is right for me....but this man I am married to is the same guy who 3 years ago gave me longjohns when I asked for a heated bird bath for my birds....so I mean...we are talking major growth for the Scorpio!!!! Bless him!

Hmm ... there seems to be a lot of Tarot / card energy around lately. Vikki was just asking about the Fairy deck she got for Christmas, and I just started re-reading one of my favorite Tarot books (Mouni Sadhu's "The Tarot") yesterday!

He was an Englishman who, like many of the English Theosophists who took up residence in Adyar early in the twentieth century, took an Indian spiritual name. Despite the affectation, however, he was a very learned Hermetic philosopher and a gifted writer and teacher. His Tarot book is considered a classic in the field and perhaps the best exposition ever written of the traditional (Marseilles) Tarot as it emerged from the Western occult schools, before the Golden Dawn folks (McGregor Mathers, Crowley, A. E. Waite) got hold of it and changed everything around!

Of all the people on my list....I could shop for Lisa for hours...and love every minute of it.....

It's such a joy to find something that I know will make her happy. .....and her gifts are like being a kid on Christmas morning all over again .....dancing jigs around the house screaming "looky what I got!!! "
