You know, Ty-stick or Thai-stick, or however it's rendered, must have been one of those elements of exotica I actually missed seeing back in the day. I've heard of it, of course, just like I've heard of the legendary Acapulco Gold, but I couldn't personally testify to the actual existence of such a critter anywhere other than in late 20th-century mythology. So I really didn't realize the smudge sticks looked like that! But I figured anyone sending green leafy anything through the mails probably ought to make clear what it isn't. So I bring it into the post office in see-through bags, so it's clear I'm not trying to hide anything, and I pack it in the priority-mail boxes right there at the table in front of the counter.

It really does work though, doesn't it? I'm very glad you both find it helpful. I've been smudging for a while, but when I do it still surprises me how it shifts and lightens and brightens the energy 'round about.

It's the high-country species of sagebrush (Woman Sage), more delicate and I think better smelling than the burlier (Man Sage) sagebrush of Arizona and New Mexico that you more frequently see sold for smudging in stores.

And just so people know, all of the Native American sage used for smudging/ritual purifying/incense is one of three species of sagebrush, all of which are different from cooking sage, which is a European plant.

It has been a really wet summer here, which is good for plants' greenery but tends to delay flowering. So I'm still waiting for raspberries on my raspberry bushes and flowers on my sage. But I'm guessing I'll be gathering this year's plants next month.

Well I've seen Thai...and now I've seen Ty.....and they look considerably alike....but acalpulco gold does not look like either of them.

I remember the looks I received at work one night when a friend popped in and handed me 1 lb bag of home grown catnip.....gee whiz did that attract attention!!!....glad it was free...if I had handed him any money...I can't imagine what would have happened!

No lie, the other night I had done a couple of beer-bongs.
At a party with college kids......I sat and witnessed them polish off a liter each of Captain Morgan and Quervo.
I was one of a select few who wasn't ralphing their guts out til the wee hours of dawn.

With age comes the infinate wisdom to pace oneself.

And they were back for more the next night!! (remember those days?).....calling me at midnight, "Lisa! Come over!"

This old lady had to respectfully decline.

My favorite scene from that movie was when the guy complained about being so high....so his friend gave him some pill that would bring him down...he chucked it back....and then his friend says " oh wait man...don't eat that"....and the other guy just turns and looks at him......

geez...that brought back memories....talk about being an old lady....you can't EVEN explain to your kids why thats funny.....I've turned into such a prude!!!!! when did that happen????

the most exciting stuff that happens anymore is when I get a good cereal coupon at the same time it's on the ad......

You're right tho'....Maria probably does not need us promoting her product in quite THIS fashion! *halo*

I tell you Lisa....I got that room back together today....and in the next few days I plan on getting the bedding and curtains back up......and I will turn it into a nice room altho it's not what it was....or who's it was.....and when I am done...I am cleansing it with the sage sticks....followed by some nice incense.....and then I think a bouquet of fresh cuts.

Todd is walking around in there smelling and crying.....but at least he does not walk across the floor like he is scared something will leap on him from the carpet.

I totaled it up...it took me 10 1/2 hours just to CLEAN it.

It's a freakin 10 x 12 room!

Oh this is all so strange......and I feel " Free " ....and so so sad all at the same time.

But all that aside...and back to the promo talk.....I also feel absolutely blessed to have these smudge sticks to do the final spiritual cleansing in a room that has eeked with black dark pain and all the other stuff that has gone on for the last 2 years.

This is hard....really really hard. *sigh*

...and typing that last post re-fired my Mars...in spite of the time I already put in there today....I just went and put the bed and bedding back together....and hung the curtains again....oh Lisa...Toddy is just breaking my heart....he stomped and sang and head butted me and walked all around the bed before he flopped down on his bankee and rolled over on his back....

She was here today...blew thru to give instructions...pick up mail...and he just sat there looking at her...and she did not even notice him....after she left...his ears dropped down to the sides of his head...and his whiskers drooped....

I just HAD to put the bed back together tonight...and I did it for Todd.

I figure if I keep going like this...by Monday at the outside...I can break out the sage in there.

We are having a gorgeous sunny weekend here. They've got John Lennon and Yoko Ono -- at one of their Bed-Ins for Peace -- hanging in a display case in the main hall of the grade school in Cripple Creek, with a handful of other Great Geniuses, as the sign in the case says ... and the other sign in the case says, "Think Differently!" Sometimes I just love this place.

Actually a beer-bong is just beer. A rubber tube attatched to a funnel......the object being to chug a whole beer in one without stopping.

I paced myself fine, but I was a bit tipsy. Here's a funny one.....I staggered home (was only a few houses down the street from my own) and fumbled through my purse in the dark for my keys.....getting Fire-impatient, I dumped my whole purse out on the porch, then caught a glimpse of the Moon from the corner of my eye.......
I was immediately transfixed and drawn towards the back of the house to get a better view.....

I wasn't gone 5 minutes and when I came back the porch was empty.....no sign of anything. I stood there perplexed for a moment and then Duane opened the door, "Where in the hell did you go? I opened the door and the porch looked like an abduction scene!"
"I went out back to look at the Moon," I said, "It's beautiful!!! You should see it!"

He rolled his eyes.....shook his head and went off to bed.

"Think differently".

Now that's something you would never see at my girl's grade school here in Dryden.
In fact......here I go another year with Cerise's teacher being all worried off the bat about her because she is shy with them.
Seems the kids either talk too much or not enough.....there is no accounting for different personalities. They just want the perfect kid. I explained to her teacher that she just needs a little time to warm up to adults and then she is fine.

I have no worries about her......she is her own little person and strong in her individuality, even if she is a bit shy. She carries her Spiderman lunchbox and Buzz Light Year back pack with pride, even though she's been teased by the girls for liking boy-things. "Do you like them?" I asked her.
"Yeah, they're my favorite, Mom", she said.
"Well, then, that's all that matters, cuz they're your things, not theirs."
"Ok, cool", she said.

At her kindergarten field trip riding a tri-cycle race track she went the opposite way then the other kids. (Aquarian Moon )

A parent actually approached me all concerned, "I don't think she should do that!".

I thought, geez, they're tri-cycles for God's sake! How much damage could she do?
"Oh, I think it'll be ok. They're having fun, " I said to the lady.

Within a few minutes every kid on the track had turned his tricycle around and was following Cheri around the track backwards.

She'll be just fine, I think.

Can see why you're so proud to live in your own Cripple Creek, where diversity is encouraged.
