Hello Everyone! It's nice to be here. I've spent some time reviewing some of the threads- there's so much to go through and it's all very intersting. I was wondering, and maybe this has been addressed already, does anyone know of a picture of Robert Brewer that may be available to look at? I am so curious to know what he looked like. Ok. I'm going back to the forums to get aquainted. Thanks everyone!

Hi optimystic! Thanks for answering. Robert Brewer was Linda Goodman's lover in Gooberz- the Leo. He was the man who she believed to be Bill Snyder. I know he left her and is still alive. I just wonder if anyone knows of a pic of him.

Dear peedalis,

Another Pisces - yippee!! Hope you like it here as much as this one does.

Um, what does 'peedalis' mean, if you will share?

I'm sure 'stranger' will disappear and that you are not a stranger.

Opti, didn't you read Gooberz? !!!

Love,

Hi Piscesdreamer! Thank you for your welcome. It's nice to meet you too. What day are you? I'm Feb 26. Oh the numbers 4 and 8 do follow me...and 26 is so descriptive of my life. Anyway, I see that I am no longer 'stranger' and am now 'member' so that's good. I am just soooo curious to know what Brewer looks like. There HAS to be a pic somewhere. I like to put a face to name no matter what, and I would love to see pics of Linda G's children, etc, but so much was written about RB that it really grabbed me. I've read Gooberz so many times and get more out of each reading. I found this site while doing some research and I thought it would be a great way to meet others who have some of the same questions. Someone must know something!

ooops, forgot to explain 'peedalis'...if you have pets, you'll get even better what I mean when I explain that I had a sweet pet rabbit named Reggie several years ago. Somehow, very quickly, his name mutated and changed forms many times and eventually became 'Peedalis'. I could outline the progression, it was about 15 names long, but you get the idea. He passed in 1998 and I still miss him. This is a way of keeping him dear and near.

Hello
my membership here has been just under 4 years and I come and go in waves.. and quite a few people have asked this same question..Gregory our Webmaster has gone from us now and passed on but there was a post where Gregory said that he had seen a picture of the 'Brewer Of Magic" in a news paper article to do with football?? and that it was too
shabby to photo copy or that he didnt think it would turn out..anyway Id like to shoot my memory to pieces right now but thats only cause Ive got a splitting headache and shouldnt be here, well dont want to be but somehow felt the urge to get online.. hopefully youll know what I mean..
dont mind me I jump in if no one else does.
really its because I did wonder the same thing myself just days ago, which must be why the story is already in my head.
this must be the release valve, dont normally get brain aches...
ok so you think he is still alive Now in 2005.Well its all relative and possible and all the readers of Linda Goodmans Books must mull over the possibilites endlessly...

Hi Crazy Daisy,
Thanks for your reply. I will continue to look through the threads, not only to get acquainted and to learn things I didn't know, but to see about the post you're speaking of. I have a friend who spoke to Ruth (who lived next door to Linda G in CO) who told my friend a lot about Linda in general, and about Linda and Robert's relationship. It's hard not to feel nosy, and that's not how I want to be, but given how Gooberz touches so many people, and given how open Linda was with her feelings about love and being in love, it feels ok to talk about it all and wonder about what people looked like, etc. I guess I don't know for sure that Robert Brewer is indeed alive right now, but as of 2 years ago he was! I understand he's a very private person, and no wonder.

I have to say that in going through this site, it feels better and somehow more 'ok' than another site I found dedicated to Linda G. I mean no disrespect to people, but you know how a person can get feelings about things...so thank you for your reply!

hi again your post is such a wonderful contribution to the LG forum then, and to think that Goob was still alive 2 years ago will be a major comfort and yet again reinforce what some have believed all along. Maria "Write-On" lives in Colorado and took pictures inside and out of LG's slipping of the time track house.
I follow my gutt feelings too and am so plesased that I did read your posts today (missed them last night),as last week thinking (if I think about Goob) it was in relation to wondering how all the marine biology research went in regard to Dolphins.. what an amazing world we live in. Robert Brewer is a VIP-
very indeed private.

I hear you CrazyDaisy, things are so synchronous sometimes. I have to wonder why I've been thinking so much about this again. I've owned Gooberz (hardcover, none the less) for 14 years and it's traveled everywhere with me. I've read it numerous times and pick it up when I need some bit of wisdom. I know everyone who reads it can relate to it in so many ways, that's the intended magic of the book, but lately it's been a bit more intense and I've found myself thinking back to a lot of the questions I've had over the years of reading it. So many unanswered questions...after my friend spoke with Ruth, many were answered, but there are deeper questions that are so curious. Seeing what someone looks like is the least of it, but I am a visual and curious Fish so I want to see faces!! Anyway, I'm still on a search for a picture...I wonder too, how all of the marine bio went, and to be able to talk with Robert for just an hour would be amazing. What a karmic path! I'm going to investigate more threads now...hope you're having a great weekend.

Hi peedalis!

Welcome!!! Its nice to see people posting in this forum, since it tends to be so quiet. I always feel a bit like tip-toeing and whispering in here

I don't know alot about Robert Brewer, it sounds like you could probably tell us a bunch of stuff though. If you haven't discovered it yet, the site's "search" function is pretty powerful, you may find some deeply buried gems in there!

Love,
Terri

Yes funny that you should ask if I was having a great weekend as we had our festival in town for the weekend, all sorts of displays and things to do. The night had a spectacular fireworks display just before the bands on stage come to an early close for the night, mainly cause the last band had a big gig somewhere else the next day.
So when I came online, geting ready for the big day was what I should have been really doing
will try and think of the time frame that post about the pic was made. If I do find it, will bring it up and you may possibly see it here in this forum. Unless you find it first.

Hi Terri, Libra and CD (is it ok if I call you that??)! And thanks again for the warm welcome. CD, I actually did find the post by Gregory about the pic of Brewer and a pic of Sally. Unfortunately, the thread just ended with no follow up. I wish Gregory had said what newspaper Brewer was featured in or why, or a date, but he didn't. And he said he didn't think the pics of Sally were scannable, so no luck with those either. I've been trying all kinds of searches to see what I can come up with. I even found, on page 613 of Gooberz, a scenario where Linda, who was in NY at the time, calls to speak with Robert and he tells her how he had a photo shoot with a photographer for the cover a magazine. In it, he was going to talk about nutrition and fasting. So...of course I'm trying to use that in a search too to see if any such magazine exists.

I'm not sure why it's suddenly become so important for me to 'see' the people in Linda's life. Even Linda...there aren't many pics of her. I saw one of her sitting in front of her typewriter and it didn't even look like her. It was kind of weird.

Anyway, I'll let you know what I come up with if I do. I often wonder what it must be like to be him- being such a foundational figure in the works and teachings of Linda G and to know that so many people would love to talk with him. Well, he IS a Leo, so I imagine all of the potential attention is pretty wonderful...

So glad you had a great weekend CD! I had to work yesterday, so my weekend this weekend was Sunday only. And it was a good one.

Terri- I'm not sure how much more I know that people in this forum don't already know. We have all done our own research though, haven't we? I guess some of what I found out that may be insightful was from a friend who spoke with Ruth. This was a few years ago. Some of what Ruth said was hard to hear. I guess it 'humanized' Linda and the people in her world, which isn't bad, but sometimes it seems as though we tend to forget that being human means having good moods or bad moods...and of course I idealized Linda G and Gooberz without even knowing it (Pisces in me!) so I came to Earth with a thud after finding out a few things. I guess the main thing that I DIDN'T know until my friend found out, was that unlike in Gooberz, Robert never came back. He married the Scorpio (Catherine?). And it upset me terribly for a long time. I wanted the story to have ended the way Linda wrote it. In a way it did, in her spirit, but you know what I mean. There were other things that were hard to hear about how Linda and Robert treated each other. I know every relationship has all moods, but again, being so involved in the sweetness of Gooberz made for a hard landing on Earth once some characteristics became known. Apparently Robert teased Linda a lot- even about her love for animals. And apparently LInda was extremely difficult to live with. Very up and down and a chain smoker!! There are other things, but I don't want to go on so much right now. I'm new here and all!

Libra...I have no way of knowing how to tell you what Gooberz is about!! Oh dear...it's an amazing work of art that molds itself to all of us. And it's an amazing insight into the life and mind of Linda G...and what a love story. Not sure what else to say. I've had my copy for 14 years and it still unfolds for me.

I must go to bed now! Work tomorrow...
Hope everyone is having a great night.

Hello again
yes CD is fine
ok so it was the pic of Sally that was unscanable.
have been curious to read it all again, It does not surprise me that he married someone else, as for some reason the book conveyed to me that he did not come back.
He was 20 years or so younger than Linda wasnt he?

Now that's my kinda guy...

Robert A. Brewer

initials = R. A. B.

backwards it's...

B. A. R.

Brewer

1.)Someone who brews beer or ale from malt and hops and water
2.)The owner or manager of a brewery

Yep! That sounds like a Drunkard's Dream if I ever did see one!

Yup getting real interesting now

Thing is Linda talked of Bill Snyder who rhymed with Apple Cider.
while that can be non alchoholic it was Bill Snyders drinking that Linda talked about, referring to drowning in a sea of Vodka, funny she should wind up with a Brewer.

A couple more little fish eggs about Robert from "Roe"-Land (in case you missed it)

Quote:

Robert -- Old German. "Bright or shining fame."
Roland -- Old. German. "From the famous land."

My my...how very interesting this thread has become! Perhaps we should rename it...but this is what's so very amazing about discussions and spiraling into other realms.

I think Linda was indeed private to a great degree BUT...she also put her life in the limelight in many ways. To write about such intimacy and to convey her feelings as she did- well it seems as though she WANTED to get people discussing her life and in general, the topics she proposed. Gooberz is VERY personal and very intimate and to expose her feelings in that way tells me that she trusted her readers immensely. So I feel as though it's ok to have these musings and wonder about the people she wrote about. Otherwise she wouldn't have written about them. In no way would I want someone's privacy to be violated, but I am curious!! I have so many questions and I want to see pictures!!

Some of my questions aren't just about the people or relationships LG had, some are questions she raised in Gooberz in general. Like: What was the 'secret mission' that she and RB were part of that involved karma higher than their own? Or how about the mystery of John, Spirit, Water, Fire...I think she actually reduced it to the mystery, or secret of Water and Fire (and I am a water sign and my significant other is a Fire sign so you can imagine how this drives me nuts!) And how about the way she used numerology sometimes. There's a whole verse where she is analyzing she and RBs last meeting and she goes through a fascinating analysis of the numbers involved. She chooses to use their name number values instead of birth values, which I realize any of us has creative and 'intuitive' license to do, BUT... she doesn't explain WHY she chose the numbers she used, when analyzing with a combo of birth numbers and name numbers would have yielded more comforting answers for her. That's just more my opinion than anything else, but since I have 4 orbs in Aquarius then my curiousity and science mind get the better of me sometime. I ask WHY a lot.

And how about the fact that she doesn't mention her living children or Sam Goodman in Gooberz? Odd...

I know the time lines of Gooberz and Star Signs are wacky, but she explains that in Star Signs. They had to be published out of the order in which they were written. An interesting fact is that although she mentions Robert Brewer as an editor in the first few pages of Star Signs, he was not a part of her life at that point and hadn't been for years. The two of them were only together for little more than a year when he left her. And yes, he was 20 years younger than she.

So there are some things that I think we can all be curious about without violating someone's privacy. I figure if Linda wrote it, it's open for discussion!

Here's something: has anyone ever wondered about the fascinating fact that some signs can never be some numbers? Like there will never be a '30' Pisces, or the very COOL fact that there is only a '29' Pisces every 4 years. What's up with that? I wish the Chaldean texts talked about that!! Even astrologically, the way Mercury can only ever be in the sign that the sun is in or the one that immediately preceeds or proceeds it...it just makes one spiral into the very many interesting things about human nature and personality.

Thank you Opti for looking more deeply into my stagename. You ask what color Reggie was. The sweetie was a gray and white Lop who was never kenneled. He was litter trained and had the run of the house. He was an Aquarius (Feb 4, double Uranus vibe) and VERY quirky and independant. He was a rescue and lived with me for 8 years. I never lexi-d PEEDALIS, but I instantly SEE: SLIDE, SLIP, PLEASE, SPEED and SLEEP in the word. And SEED. I'll have to look into this more closely, and wear my DALI clock earrings while doing so.

Thank you all for such a nice welcome. You're terrific!
Goodnight,

An interesting fact is that although she mentions Robert Brewer as an editor in the first few pages of Star Signs, he was not a part of her life at that point and hadn't been for years. The two of them were only together for little more than a year when he left her

Love Signs was a result of her relationship with Goob wasnt it?, interesting that she spent just over a full solar cycle (year) with him to write about all the 12 signs in "Love Signs"...
In the wakefulness of her sleep she was also in contact with him for the writing of Star Signs.
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn was to reflect her life in the 40's.
That last meeting didnt she add the numbers of the room to their name numbers?, and then there in that same room on her own during another stay, saw it in a different Light, as later that same room had its number changed in the Franklin Roosevelt which she conveyed had changed the whole vibration giving a different outcome of the earlier events..

Hi peedalis,

Good point about Pisceans being the only sign of the zodiac that can age at a 1/4 of the speed as the other 11.

Hi all,

I'm in the mood for a Good Love Story today...and since you want to pry, peedalis, I'll try to give you a little more...providing my Leaky Windows don't Short-Circuit the keyboard...

It is my understanding that the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel became symbolic of the seedy hotel in which LG made love to her Twin Soul for the first time.

At first to her the hotel was a nasty dive, but in the end it became the Tash Mohall (sp?) of hotels. To Linda Goodman that seedy hotel room with the lumpy bed was the fu*king best hotel on this side of the galaxy...and to her it eventually became the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

You know the kind of seedy hotel I'm talking about? Those hotels above shabby bars and greasy-spoon cafes, that rent rooms by the week. The kind of hotel in a small, seaside, weekend-tourist town where traveling construction workers, newly divorced men, drunks, drifters, and lost souls live.

In the shabby hotel room bathroom, Linda cuts impulsively cuts her HARE, before she makes love to her twin soul for the first time.

And it was in this 'shabby hotel' filled with lonely and lost souls that Linda and her twin soul had found each other...
Quote:

Canto 8 page 221

I remained in the bathroom, with its cracked mirror and stained wallpaper
For what must have seemed to him, hours
Hating my uneven, shoulder length, straight hair
And, hoping it would look neater short
I cut and slashed away at it, with a razor blade from his shaving kit

After her twin soul dies from drowning in a sea of alcohol (pneumonia by the ME), she is overcome with grief and decides she needs to get away. And she decides to goes back to the place where her twin soul had lived and where they had first made love. Which is what "the week" at the hotel in Beaches and Boulevards (Canto Thirteen) is about...

--Monday
Still, I had to go away
Somewhere

To find a quiet private shore
Where I could listen to the oceans roar
And watch the waves roll in
Maybe even try once more
To write my happiness poem
Since I had failed in Colorado and New York

But...much more than the writing
There was this restlessness of spirit I was fighting
Something nameless I was trying to discover
Before it was to late
Something I was desperately trying to reach
...a seaside town called Laguna Beach

--Tuesday
I finally settled on the Dolphin Suite
Because its name, for some obscure reason
Appealed to me
Yes, The Dolphin

[Remebering the time at the shabby hotel she cuts her HARE again...]
On impulse, I had, with a sharp razor blade
Just cut short and feathered my mouse-colored hair
And it was hanging forlorn and limp

.................
Why did I come to this forlorn beach
And allow it to be uncovered in these alien sands?

Alien to me...but not to him
For he had once walked this very shore
Maybe even sunned himself on this very spot
Where I now sat...remembering

--On Wednesday she went to see a movie...but the sound malfunctions.

--Thursday
I was desperately trying to see Forever with my imperishable wish
To penetrate the curtain between my twin soul and myself

Later that day, Linda is so freaked out by meeting an astral twin of her twin soul that she flees from the Dolphin Suite hotel to the city of lost Angels.

--Friday
Linda's spends her first day at the HRH.

She felt peaceful there and it soothed her soul...the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel had in a way become the magical "seed"y hotel room she had shared with her twin soul. Her Twin Soul deserved to be in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, not a shabby hotel. This was the special magic the hotel held for Linda...the special magic she needed to penetrate the curtain...and she knew that she had to write her Happiness Poem in the HRHotel ...besides there was no room in the Madonna Inn.

Ok I'm going to go screw my head back on tight...
Then I'm going to make an appointment with my hair stylist in the salon right next door to this shabby little hotel...her last name rhymes with Cider.

Love&Light,
HRH Stephanie

PS. Peedalis I hope you find a pic of R.A.B. He has dark hair and brown eyes with little green speckles that look like fish swimming, and high Indian cheekbones...

Hi CD,

Thanks for the ride back to the Hotel!

Here's some more Hollyweird-ness for you...

Quote:

Hotel California

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering Light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night

There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell

And I was thinking to myself,
'This could be Heaven or this could be Hell'
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year, you can find it here

Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes Benz
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

So I called up the Captain,
'Please bring me my wine'
He said, 'We haven't had that Spirit here since nineteen sixty nine'
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
They livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise, bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said 'We are all just prisoners here, of our own device'
And in the master's chambers,
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can't kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
'Relax,' said the night man,
We are programmed to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
but you can never leave!

Over half the members of The Eagles are flying an octave higher Scorpio Eagles.
(If I remember right 3 of the boys are Scorpion Eagles, 1 Virgo, and 1 Cancer)

Also if I'm remember correctly many of the members of the German band The Scorpions are also Scorpios (i think many with Scorpio or Taurus Moons 2)

Linda Goodman wrote Love Signs at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel between 1970 and 1978. The Eagles Hotel California was released in December of 1976.
You just have to put the Pieces together.

As The Eagles sing in Already Gone...

The letter that you wrote me made me stop and wonder why
But I guess you felt like you had to set things right
Just remember this, my girl, when you look up in the sky
You can see the stars and still not see the Light (that's right) ...

So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains
And we never even know we have the key

Much Love & LIght,

Hi HRH,
I don't want to pry into LInda's life, I'm just trying to analyze the details and events she made public for us to think about. Thank you for revisiting the time she spent at the hotel and the week before she met RB. I had just re-read that in Gooberz last week.

CD, not sure what question I asked that HRH answered with a question...I do indeed understand about Goob. Hmmm...

Welcome, peedalis!

I do have a photo of Sally, which was one of the unexpected treasures included when Linda Goodman's work desk (big and businesslike) came home with me. I went down to the auction house the day after a two-day auction of Linda's things had finished and all the "good stuff" had been purchased. I had very little money. I had my husband's pickup truck. I took it slow, down the long winding road through Phantom Canyon. There was something very magic about that desk and file cabinet and their contents being there, waiting for me, forlorn and bulky and a bit beat-up ... and here and there revealing little treasures.

I'm thinking it could be the same shot of Sally that Greg had a copy of as well, because it's small, poor quality, but it was enclosed with some of Linda's notes from her search for Sally. I know that Linda's friend Ev and I have to get our rears in gear, gather what we have, talk to a lot of people, and get the available information together to present, because people do, and rightly so, want to know about Linda's life.

I don't think I want to just post that picture on the internet right now though ... makes my tummy feel all squeamish.

Robert Brewer I could swear I've seen pictures of because I have such a clear picture in my mind's eye. But maybe I just saw a self-portrait drawing? He drew a lot. My third-hand understanding is that he does not care much for his former association with Linda and would rather not promote his identification with her.

This will be the year I will really start to devote some time to this. I've been gathering stuff and working with it little by little for several years, so ... time to get going!

Love,
Maria

Dear Peedalis Hi there
so sorry for confusing you, my communication skills on-line can be poor I guess, esp as my posts are usually mostly dropping in articles: cut/pastes and not expressing how I feel, and from what I read last night its all to do with my Moon sign.

My comment, "answering your questions with Questions"
was something I said to Stephanie because my response to you consisted of the question "Love Signs was a product of Linda's and Goobs relationship wasnt it?"(also centering in and around the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, which Linda openly writes in the book) naturally this lead me to think Stephanie figured I was asking about the Hotel room too.
Excellent of her to Post the details, and it was slack of me not to refer to the Books.(This is why I mentioned last night, in future any of my comments would be taken/quoted from the book(s), as Im not paying attention to de Tails DETAILS).There is a post "Totem Animals" that I made and it is applying to my situation at present, if you get into that sort of thing, Which I do I do..

These are 2 of the questions you asked that my post was related to.
Quote:

I know the time lines of Gooberz and Star Signs are wacky, but she explains that in Star Signs. They had to be published out of the order in which they were written. An interesting fact is that although she mentions Robert Brewer as an editor in the first few pages of Star Signs, he was not a part of her life at that point and hadn't been for years. The two of them were only together for little more than a year when he left her.

And how about the way she used numerology sometimes.

Well my reply was that she used the Room number of the Hollywood Roosevelt in combination with their name numbers, and then the blurb about the room number being changed later.
anyway my confusion has obviously confused you. mercury Rx could be.
Quote:

she doesn't explain WHY she chose the numbers she used,

Their last meeting in that room, being what you referred to, lead me to explain that she added the Room Number to their names...sorry maybe reading Gooberz again, the part where she explains their last meeting would have given me a better understanding of your question, and I would have known if my reply was the correct one.oh and you understood about the astral connections. These sort of Questions Im sure RAB would want to steer clear of without saying Linda was as nutty as a fruit cake to suggest such things.Anyway most of us probably understand and have had these experiences and know this to be true to some degree.
anyway on that note and I did say last night no more from me, infact I was going to give it a rest when you arrived. Excitement gets the better of us all, and I wish you luck in your genuine curiosity of wanting to see a picture of the man whom Linda called Goob.See you soon.
Love to you Peedalis

Maria thankyou for posting that, sounds like hes trying to be cruel to be kind but not in the right measure.

Hi peedalis,

Quote:

Thank you for revisiting the time she spent at the hotel and the week before she met RB.

I think you misunderstood ...I don't think I spoke of the week before LG met RAB...Linda CLEARLY states that they had already known each other for 7 months and 7 days...
Quote:

...in the beginning, Love created "Us", needing -- but we waited
and on the seventh day, a Sunday -- of the seventh month after we met
we faced, for the first time, the seductive serpent of our original sin

I'll be back later...I was up late last night sprinkling magical green Leperchaun glitter through the hotel hallway and the pedestrian street outside. Successfully dodged cameras and security...I bet it will take maid service at least 4 months to be rid of all that the green glitter! Happy St. Pat-TRIX Day!

Gotta go!

Hey... You guys will like this...

Quote:

Over half the members of The Eagles are flying an octave higher Scorpio Eagles.
(If I remember right 3 of the boys are Scorpion Eagles, 1 Virgo, and 1 Cancer)

But do you know WHY the Eagles named themselves the Eagles? At least one of them, but I think maybe more of them, came to my university. My university has a renowned music program, though it's especially renowned for its jazz music. They picked the name the Eagles, because supposedly they met here (at least some of them did) and our school mascot is the Eagle.

What's even more bizarre to me is the fact that before I came to this school, I didn't know any Scorpios at all. When I got here freshman year, my first roommate, both suitemates, and the girl who lived next door to me were ALL Scorpios. And now, senior year, the majority of my close friends are Scorpios (though not the same ones I met freshman year). It's really weird. It just always struck me as funny because our mascot IS the Eagle. For a while I started calling my university the "Scorpio School." lol.

I just thought you guys might like to know that little tidbit of information...

Interesting conversation you have going here about Gooberz and Linda. I'd be kind of curious to see a picture of the Robert guy too, but I don't know... Seems like prying to me, and besides, I think I like the mystery surrounding it all. It's still meant to be a story, not really the entire truth, which is probably why she ended Gooberz differently than the way things actually ended. However, it is fun to analyze.

Peedalis,

I don't know if this will have a picture of Robert Brewer or not, but it's worth a try:

Robert Brewer wrote and published a book (yes, THE Robert Brewer to whom you are referring) and its title is "Captains." The full title is "Captains: the Good, the Bad and the Ridiculous." It was published by Hampton Roads Publishing Company in 1993.

If you Google it, you'll see that you could purchase it or maybe look for it at a library.

Perhaps there is a picture of the author in his book. As I said, it could be worth a shot if you're really interested in looking for a picture of him.

Just a suggestion.

Good luck in your quest!

Good stuff guys

Sounds like a COOL SCHOOL, enchantress!

RobertChancellor - Thanks for the info! I couldn't even find a picture of the book cover on the web. However, LOL The title reminds me of my favorite Clint Eastwood movie, The Good, The Bab, and the Ugly...and I always get that eerie, hypnotizing song from the movie in my head and find myself doodley-dooing it away while I'm doing housework.

I`m not joking at all
fish are wiser than most people surmise

is that what your secret assignment is ?
are you going totry to teach dolphins to talk ?

You looked straight into my eyes
When you replied

if I ever became friends with a dolphin

I would never presume to try to teach such a creature

more evolved than most humans could ever be

on the contrary, I would try to learn

all the levels of insight and depths of wisdom

a dolphin might be kind enough

to share with me
train dolphins for secret missions ?

I`d prefer to train them how to remain free

that is...if I were ever to meet one

and the two of us

should happen to share a cup of tea

then you smiled and changed the subject...

1st DEGREE GEMINI

First Image, Outer Symbol

Two Children, a boy and a girl, are approaching Hand in Hand from the right, moving along a road towards two beautiful yellow lilies growing under a tree with a canopy of foliage.

Interpretation
As a first degree, this image has all the symbols of the sign. The boy and girl are obviously twins. There are twin flowers growing at the way side, and the tree is showing its foliage(the Mercurius stage of the plant)
Janduz calls this a degree of `Tranquil Security`, which does not quite express the typical Gemini duality: the dialogue between good and bad, positive and negative, male and female, active and passive. Here, in this degree, we see two children going along together in full harmony and with a common aim. This represents the opposite sign Sagittarius. The road is leading towards a goal(Sag.).We also find the three air signs clearly presented, Gemini-Libra-Aquarius. There is the harmony and indeed tranquil securiy of Libra, when the duality of Gemini meets, and there is the openness and contact of Aquarius.

People with this degree rising, or with a planet prominant here, may show the typical Gemini duality. They are always in dialogue with one part of themselves. Their spirit(the boy) is in interplay with their feelings and the mirror of their experiance(the girl). Their DUALITY SHOULD NEVER BECOME A DIVISION, Becouse these people are meant to be happy children with a quite nature, who simply walk the earth and enjoy it. They have passed the stage of the hind-axis Taurus-Scorpio. They still have to grow up(Tau.).Hard work(Tau.),death and sex are either beyond them or simply integrated in their natural life. The for-axis is still before them, Cancer-Capricorn. They are embedded in their parental home(Cn.)and have no worries about law and order, or the state of their country(Cap.)

Gemini is first and formost a sign of observance and keeness of observation.Gemini people have to learn inner dialogue. They have to know that the outer horizontal observed world is the mirror(Cn.) of an inner one, experienced when they are in dialogue with the Creator."

...and now we must return to

Suite 1217

The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel
on Hollywood Boulevard
in Los Angeles, the city of "Lost Angeles"

in the same haunted room where it was begun...

PART TWO -- CAROUSEL
Canto Eight
And We Were One -- pg. 217

And We Were One -- 217

Quote:

And We Were One

Yes, it’s time to remember
it has started to rain..

never mind the pain, never mind it
I remember……….

for the first time since my own Brownie pack, I was properly identified
by himâ€"the one always trying to reach a star
or ring a faraway bell
the one so like the Bill from Carousel
he knew exactly who I wasâ€"from the moment we first met
and I knew him too
as the Bible tells
we knew each other…â€and Abraham knew his wife Sarah
…and she conceived…â€

he wanted to be a composer ..a writer or a doctor ..maybe an artist
to heal, he said ..people’s bodies, minds and souls
it didn’t matter which, just one of the three
and the healing of the other two
would surely follow, he believed

…oh, darling
you healed me
you healed me !

he never quite made itâ€"he tried, but somehow
something always interfered
he startedâ€"then stoppedâ€"in medical school
at two different universities
as for composing, the closest he ever came to that dream
was listening to symphonies for hoursâ€"an to operas
Tschaikovsky, Madame Butterfly, Der Rosenkavalier
..and others
but he did finally become a writer
at least, I thought so..
his letters to me were poems
needing only to be placed in stanza form
and scanned
yes, to me ..his letters were poems

in one of them, he wrote

“I send you a message from Eistein
about the relativity of Us
darling, I love you more at this moment
then I loved you tomorrow
and more than I will love you yesterdayâ€

then, in the Postscript
he asked, anxiously..

“does this letter confuse you ?
do you understand ? I was trying
to explain in which wayâ€"and direction
Time moves for Usâ€"in an Eternal Now
Like the Serpent Circle of Eternity
The snake, eating its own tail
But since we’ve been apart
Time is crawling like a snail…
Oh, I miss you ! and I love you soâ€

And I wrote back
“I know, darling, I knowâ€

he seemed to say it better each time, the Forever thing
in every letter from Stuttgart, Germany, written as an Army Sergeant

..there were no trenches
no notes scribbled under enemy fire
no wading through rice paddies in Korea or Viet Nam
thank God for that
he had no stomach for war and killing

during a weekend in Switzerland, in another letter, he wrote..

“I am like a bird, swelling and expanding
into the Universe
skiing down these snowy mountains
is such a magical challenge and thrill !
I’ll bring you here somedayâ€"and together
like druids, you’ll see
we’ll make these mountains fly !â€

yes, he loved Tschaikovsky, Puccini ..Nature ..the woods
and especiallyâ€"later, in California, the ocean
walking for hours along its shore
he knew exactly how to make a dandelion ring
..most people don’t, you know
and once, he did a very enchanted thing
at the movies, watching Carousel
he went to the lobby
and brought back a box of chocolate covered Goober’s Peanuts

then whispered in my ear
“here’s something for you to munch
these are mystical peanuts
manufactured in another galaxy

and when you eat them, you become
extremely small
very teeny-tiny
you grow smaller ..and smaller
till you’re no larger than a mouse
with a faint, inaudible squeak ..so
be careful !â€

I laughed, gobbled them downâ€"and
all the rest of that night
he pretended he couldn’t see me, or hear me
with a perfectly straight face ..oh, he was magic !

we rode Life’s Carousel, side by side, and hand-in-hand
..familiar hand
our painted horses grinning, dipping up and down
in crazy rhythm, seldom synchronized
first, his horse rode high…and I looked up to him
then his horse dipped gracefully lower
as I rose higher, looked down on him
and blew him a kiss

rising and falling, to the rhythm of the Calliope
the music now pouring out smooth melodies, now screeching
sometimes tinkling brassy notes, but never stopping
around and around ..and round and round
they matched perfectly, the two fine horses we rode

so did the our secrets match

all the other Carousel horses seemed, to us, grotesque or comical
wild, unfamiliar stallions and fillies, with oddly measured gait

Yes, my twin soul and I

walked together, along the painful path of evolving and learning
and shared the burning lessons of growing
but also shared the ecstasy of each deeply knowing ..the other

we quarreled bitterly, sometimes violently
as we cut and lash each other with cruel whips of words
occasionally dropping the reins
and nearly falling off the Carousel
or pushed by one another, during some unbearable hurt

we raged…

but we lovedâ€"and so we forgave

forgave..even her..the cool, sure one
so different from me, so unpossessing..so permissive
with small, daintily dimpled hands
and soft feminine voice..unlike my own

so unafraid, she was

she was so sure…she was so un-teared

yet, after a while, I forgave him..even her
and he forgave in me, too, so much
different kinds of things, but still..so much

I have forgiven tooâ€"though not forgotten
another minor, hurting-thing
but, if minorâ€"then why do I still remember ?

yes, if minor..why can’t I forget ?

it was in the beginning
…in the beginning, Love created “Usâ€, needingâ€"but we waited
and on the seventh day, a Sundayâ€"of the seventh month after we met
we faced, for the first time, the seductive serpent of our original sin

we were not wed

and the lumpy bed in that shabby hotel room, was sagging
the spread was thin
old and torn
the carpet faded, cheap and worn ..a musty odor
lingered in the bedclothes, and in the mended drapes at the window
permeating the close, dank airâ€"oh! why did we go there ?

it was so ugly ugly ugly...but I was drawn
like a helpless wooden puppet, manipulated by his eyes
my arms and legs dangling awkwardly, awaiting instructions
or a pull on the strings from the puppeteer ..to make it clear
what was expected of me
it was a hasty, ill considered decision of passion
..therefore
I had not gown to wear
And not sufficient brazen courage ..or trust ?

For love’s honest, naked offering

So I slipped over my head his wrinkled shirt
The one he’d been wearing all day, in the hot Sun
Measuring with precision instruments, the roads outside St. Mary’s

..tiny town of three or four hundred souls

he had become and engineer, and secretly despised it
the Highways of the State employed him ..as the Pharaohs employed
the slaves
to lift and measure stones, to build their silent tombs

dusty roads ..are so unlike sterile medical laboratories
nor do ditches much resemble a vaulted concert auditorium
or the polished hallways of an art exhibit

but he did save up enough cash
to buy a typewriter
one-two-three dreams, your out !

and who is the umpireâ€"Fate ?

the shirt..

was miles too large, over my trembling nakedness
and khaki colored, like an army regulation
I slipped it on nervously ..then, for no reason at all
except pure, raw tension

I remained in the bathroom, with its cracked mirror and stained wallpaper
For what must have seemed to him, hours
Hating my uneven, shoulder length, straight hair
And, hoping it would look neater short
I cut and slashed away at it, with a razor blade from his shaving kit

Stalling for time-time-time

My hands shook so, I nicked my ear lobe
So I drew dark-winged arches on my brows
Smeared blue shadow on my lids
Bruised my lips with fuchsia-scarlet gloss ..and on my cheeks
The corpse-colored pink foundation
Called Sun-Kissed by some insane, blind Madison Avenue copywriter

….as compensation for shredded wheat hair
and bleeding ear, and shaking hands….

the stern, army regulation of the mud-colored, long tailed shirt
revealing one bruised knee, no thigh….firmly buttoned up high
to forbid my swelling breasts from shaming themselves
with any suggestion of surrender

ugly, coarse nightgown

oh ! but it smelled of himâ€"Sun-soaked and musty
sweet, like a nest for birds
made of straw, caked clay…and dampness
I could feel baby robins fluttering their wings
somewhere deep within me
they were hungry

I walked into the bedroom slowly, unsure…uncertain
Knowing-knowing-knowing
I was a peeled onion, with a stinging, smarting ear lobe
My blue shadowed eyes swollen, under the black raven arches of brows
Eyes bleared with criss-cross red lines, from weeping in frustration

I hesitated

Then walked towards the bed…to my Comforter

And he laughed

He laughed, and said

“hey ! take off the Dracula mask
and that Bride of Frankenstein wig
you’ll never catch a husband that wayâ€

oh ! what a dumb thing to say
what a dumb, dumb thing to say
and I though he was a poet….

my heart broke, and I wept ..humiliated
then he told me he was sorry

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorryâ€

over and over again, against my sore ear
and murmured hoarsely, swallowing hard

“it is I who is the Monster, not you
I am the Frankenstein ..Dracula Monster
for teasing you
you are ..oh, you are, you are
a beautiful woman
and you have lovely hair
it smells like raindrops ..and it feels like..
gauzy butterfly feathersâ€

then we both fell down on the lumpy mattress
and rolled and tumbled, doubled up with fits of uncontrollable laughter
laughing so hard, the tears ran down his cheeks and mine
until my fuschia-purple lipstick, pink pancake and blue eyeshadow
streaked into crazy rainbows
on both our faces, turning us into clowns
turning our hearts suddenly sunny..banishing my tears
as we laughed and laughed…oh, it was so funny !

trying to imagine
a butterfly with feathers…

suddenly
we stopped laughing

suddenly, we stopped

it was so still between us
I could hear his thumping heart

as he stared deeply into my rainbow-hued eyes, all stained
for a long, long moment ..his lips so near
I could feel and smell his breath
hot and musty, like jungle grass

then he reached out…slowly…and stroked my cheek
with his fingers, then cupped his hands around my face
so gently ..so very, very gently

and I felt an unaccustomed, throbbing ache
that hurt in the back of my ears
in the spot where you first feel mumps
an incredible mump-lump of inexpressible longing
no words can describe

as we kissed deeply deeply deeply
clinging, clinging…both moaning softly, low
then melted together like cocoa butter…and loved
again and again and again
until we feel asleep, damp and exhausted, in each other’s arms

it was..the first time ever

for both of us

the next morning, I awoke..reached out to him
but touched only an empty pillow
he was gone

not there
..just gone

fingers of fear clutched tightly, then, into a hard-knuckled fist
and trust a sharp cramp into my belly, like a curse of shame
causing crimson streams to flow across the love rumpled bed
as I lay there, a pale clown, sans greasepaint
staring at an empty tent ..a ludicrous clown, with no audience
to applaud my antics
no one to cheerâ€"the audience had walked out
indicating distaste, disapproval of the clumsy, inexperienced grossness
of my unfunny, un-touching tumbling act

I had lost my seat on the Carousel for fumbling the reins
and was slipping off my painted horse, never to catch the brass ring now

oh, who cares ? I was weary of spinning anyhow
nearly falling ..and thinking of a painless way
to end the ride

but falling off the carousel is an art

ask those who try..

I started to cry, swallowing the ache in my throat
as I realized he hadn’t even left a note
not even a thank-you note
to thank me

how did the other girls successfully perform this tumbling act ?
how did the other girls tumble, and never fumble
holding the audience breathless and spellbound ?
I had no practice ..no rehearsal ..and I had thought
there would be a net to catch me, if I fell
a safety net to catch me.. his arms

his arms were my safety

the the door
opened suddenly

as he exploded into the room !
fell on the bed beside me, in one great leap
and scooped me up into his arms
smelling of fresh air and March winds, rain-washed

..kissed the tip of my nose
handed me a toothbrush, in a blue case
and a spray of pink-and-white apple blossoms
from the tree in front of the drug store, on the corner

oh, that lovely, lovely tree ! *

* * then said, his eyes tear-misted
* “darling, will you marry me ?â€
* *
* *
*
magic magic magic magic magic !
* *
* *
*
I tried an experimental tumble through a hoop
and laughter and applause roared all through the tent
as we swung out higher and higher, soaring on a silver trapeze

then floated
floated
floated

down into the safety of each other’s arms
..like gauzy butterfly feathers

If I loved you

.. if I loved you

I loved you

I love you ..

“oh ! I love you!†he said “I do, I do!â€

like the Carousel Bill

“but you should have left a noteâ€
I whispered, trembling still
The fist of fear relaxing slowly

“you should have left a note
to tell me where you went ..because
I almost fell off the Carousel
I really, nearly did

..I really, nearly didâ€

Just re-posting this on the Robert Brewer pic? thread... seems to fit nicely here too.

Read a couple books on soul mates and both books basically said the same thing regarding SOUL MATES & TWIN SOULS.

Here's the "meat & potatoes" from Soul Mates: Understanding Relationships Across Time By Richard Webster.

Quote:

SOUL MATES:

-->A soul mate relationship is a strong bond between two people that has existed over many incarnations, where each partner helps the other to learn the lessons that he or she needs to learn in this incarnation.
A soul mate relationship…
--is not restricted to heterosexual relationships
--is not necessarily a love relationship either
--does not necessarily last for a whole lifetime

-->Many people feel there is only one potential soul mate for them in the whole world. Fortunately, this is not the case. It would be terrible if you lived in Iowa, but your one and only soul mate lived in Finland. It is likely that you will find a soul mate in the town or city that you already live in.
Ancient myths can teach us valuable truths that we would not understand in any other way. Throughout the East, where reincarnation is considered a basic fact of life, there are ancient writings telling us the soul originally consisted of both male and female principles. The divine energy is spread throughout the universe by a process of division. Groups of cells gather in different places, all waiting to be transformed into souls. The smaller the group the closer the association that these cells have with each other. Later on, in human form, these souls instantly recognize each other again whenever they happen to meet. The other cells in that group you belonged to are all your soul mates. There is an immediate attraction and recognition at a soul level whenever two soul mates meet.

-->…soul mates love at a deep soul level that far transcends the love between two individuals who are not soul mates…

-->This even applies in nonromantic soul mate relationships. Soul mates are brought together to work on a specific task. A love relationship is what comes to most people’s minds when they think of soul mates, but the variety of possible tasks is limitless. It might be to pay off a karmic debt or to work on a challenging project that both people consider worthwhile. The relationship may only last for the length of time necessary to complete the task, but the strong love bond will be apparent to others, even if it is not recognized by the people concerned.

-->If we accept the definition of soul mates as being a strong bond between two people that has existed through amny incarnations, we also need to accept the idea of reincarnation. Reincarnation is the doctorine that says we evolve spiritually by living as many lifetimes as is necessary to achieve perfection. In other words, although our physical body and personality die, our soul is immortal.

-->If we have already experienced countless previous lives, why can we not remember them?
Imagine the complications that would be created if we were trying to live one life, while full of memories of another. Even in our current lives we usually have no memory of learning essential skills, such as walking or talking. It appears also that oxytocin, a hormone produced by the mother’s posterior pituitary gland, bathes the unborn child in the latter stages of pregnancy. Oxytocin causes memory loss in laboratory animals, and might explain why we can not remember our past lives.
Consequently it is unusual for soul mates to recall any of the intimate details of their previous lifetimes together. This is not surprising, as their current personalities have no conscious memories of their past lives. It is the soul that remembers. However, their hearts open wide when they first meet in this lifetime and an immediate attraction is felt. Each incarnation strengthens and deepens the relationship, until finally they reach a perfect state of love.

-->Of course, in this lifetime, we are not just paying off karmic debts. Through the experiences of our lives, and our reactions to them, we also pick up karmic debts that will have to be paid back later, either in this lifetime or in a future life. We will also gain karmic credit for our good deeds.
It is not what happens to us that is important, it is how we react to them. If we respond to a negative situation in a positive way, we are effectively creating good karma, rather than bad. It means we have learned our lesson and can move on. Conversely, if we react to the situation in a negative way, by becoming angry, stressed out, bitter, jealous, and full of desires for revenge it shows that we have not learned the lesson. As a result, at some stage, we will be presented with a similar situation again. This will continue to happen until we finally learn the lesson.
I have found many people who have experienced virtually identical situations in several previous lifetimes. Obviously, the lesson was being repeated over and over again until, finally, the soul learned it and was able to move on.

[Aside to reader: Also makes a good holding pattern Evaluate your Karma regularly and implement it wisely...did anyone catch Drew Barrymore talking about Karma on Jay Leno the other night? ]

Twin Souls:

As well as your soul mates, there is one twin soul searching for you. This twin soul is your other half, dating from when we were all whole. It is most unlikely that you will meet your twin soul in this incarnation. It appears that your twin soul comes into your life when you are both experiencing your final life on this earth plane. A twin soul relationship is an unbelievable perfect relationship on every level.

You and your twin soul will connect with each other on the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and soul levels. Most people connect with their partners on one level, and some have no connection at any level. Good relationships are forged if the partners meet on two levels. Imagine what it must be like to be connected with your partner on all five levels.

To be totally in tune with someone at every level is a joy that all of us will experience on day, even though that day might be many incarnations away. In the meantime, though, we can enjoy a rewarding, joyous, fulfilling relationship with one of our soul mates.

Can't remember the source for this...Really!?

Quote:

The River of Forgetfulness:

In Classical Greek, Lethe literally means "forgetfulness" or "concealment". The Greek word for "truth" is a-lethe-ia, meaning "un-forgetfulness" or "un-concealment".

In Greek mythology, Lethe is one of the several rivers of Hades (the god of the underworld in ancient mythology; brother of Zeus and husband of Persephone). Drinking from the river Lethe ("forgetfulness" or "oblivion") caused complete forgetfulness. Some ancient Greeks believed that souls were made to drink from the river before being reincarnated, so they would not remember their past lives.

Some private mystery religions taught the existence of another river, the Mnemosyne (the Titaness who was goddess of memory; mother of the Muses); those who drank from the Mnemosyne would remember everything and attain omniscience. Initiates were taught that they would receive a choice of rivers to drink from after death, and to drink from Mnemosyne instead of Lethe. These two rivers are attested in several verse inscriptions on gold plates dating to the 4th century BC and onward, found at Thurii in Southern Italy and elsewhere throughout the Greek world.

SONG FOR BOB DYLAN by David Bowie

Oh, hear this Robert Zimmerman
I wrote a song for you
About a strange young man
called Dylan
With a voice like sand and glue
His words of truthful vengeance
They could pin us to the floor
Brought a few more people on
And put the fear in a whole lot more

Ah, Here she comes
Here she comes
Here she comes again
The same old painted lady
From the brow of a superbrain
She'll scratch this world to pieces
As she comes on like a friend
But a couple of songs
From your old scrapbook
Could send her home again

You gave your heart to every bedsit room
At least a picture on my wall
And you sat behind a million pair of eyes
And told them how they saw
Then we lost your train of thought
The paintings are all your own
While troubles are rising
We'd rather be scared
Together than alone

Ah, Here she comes...[etc.]

Now hear this Robert Zimmerman
Though I don't suppose we'll meet
Ask your good friend Dylan
If he'd gaze a while
down the old street
Tell him we've lost his poems
So they're writing on the walls
Give us back our unity
Give us back our family
You're every nation's refugee
Don't leave us with their sanity

Ah, Here she comes....[etc.]

SIMPLE TWIST OF FATE -- by BOB Dylan

They sat together in the park
As the evening sky grew dark,
She looked at him and he felt a spark tingle to his bones.
'Twas then he felt alone and wished that he'd gone straight
And watched out for a simple twist of fate.

They walked along by the old canal
A little confused, I remember well
And stopped into a strange hotel with a neon burnin' bright.
He felt the heat of the night hit him like a freight train

Moving with a simple twist of fate.

A saxophone someplace far off played
As she was walkin' by the arcade.
As the light bust through a beat-up shade where he was wakin' up,
She dropped a coin into the cup of a blind man at the gate
And forgot about a simple twist of fate.

He woke up, the room was bare
He didn't see her anywhere.
He told himself he didn't care, pushed the window open wide,
Felt an emptiness inside to which he just could not relate
Brought on by a simple twist of fate.

He hears the ticking of the clocks
And walks along with a parrot that talks,
Hunts her down by the waterfront docks where the sailers all come in.
Maybe she'll pick him out again, how long must he wait
Once more for a simple twist of fate.

People tell me it's a sin
To know and feel too much within.
I still believe she was my Twin, but I lost the ring.
She was born in Spring, but I was born too late
Blame it on a simple twist of fate.

...What higher Wisdom created these Lilies of the field of the field? Gemini subjects have to develop the notion that they possess an inner higher Wisdom which can speak to them. Their gain in life is great, as they are not only twins in the image, but also a tree in full foliage. They are protected by, and protect, the higher knowledge in life. They are True (Aq.) to their teachers and protectors. Their own inner security may spread over their friends and surroundings. They radiate an inner peace and spread happiness. One might speak of the finding of the Twin-Soul, but these people may be the two in one[i/]. The outer search for the twin is the projection of the inner life into another person, which is the fatal split in Gemini. They have to learn to find it all within themselves,as we see it developing in the other degree-images of Gemini.

The Twin-Lilies are the symbol of Wisdom. The Lily has a deep esoteric meaning of wich the fleur-de-lis, in heraldry and art forms, is an historic reflection. Its botany is also meaningful. The Hebrew word for lily is shoshannah, which has the words Whiteness and Trumpet in it.

Spoken and written words come under Gemini and are mediators for the communication between the Creator and the horizontal world. The
Yellow (Le.) of the lilies shows firthermore that those with this degree prominant may flower into creative speaking and writing. An example of them may be shown in the greatest of all love-songs about Twins, which feed amongst the lilies, written by the wise man King Soloman.

Second Image, Inner Symbol

A Glass-Bottomed Boat Drifts Over UnderSea Wonders

Interpretation
In the first image we do not notice the other two signs of the mutable cross Virgo-Pisces squaring Gemini. There was no critical analysis(Vi.) in this togetherness of the Twins, nor the loneliness of Pisces.

Here in the second image the difficulty for Gemini is brought to a higher level in the clear water of Pisces, and the technical advancement(Vi.) of ob
serving the underwater vegetation from a glass-bottomed boat. Thus there is the realisation of the inner observation of miracles-wonders of nature. When mysticism(Pi.) and humble service (Vi.) are brought into the lives of these people, there comes to them the inner consciousness that they are continuously in touch with their deeper sources, which are the origins of life itself. This brings a tremendously refined sensitivity to collective images emerging from their inner (un)consciousness. When their observation is turned within, they can discover forms which are not of this earth. Through their inner hands(Ge.) they have to bring these wonders up, as if from another world, and make them visible for others in words or pictures. It is still the mirror or The Looking Glass through which they see, but they prepare themselves, and others, to meet The Creator face to face INSIDE.
They may bring up the lilies from the bottom of the sea of the collective unconsciousness. Then they express Gemini at its highest, as mediators, Christ-messengers.

By Helen&Willem Koppejan from Their Triology Of Books,This 1Beeing The Mutable Signs.

Biblical Parallels

Lilies are engraved on the top of the pillars of Soloman`s temple. The Song Of Solomon mentions the Lilies several times.See 2:1-2; 2:16;4:5;5:136:2-3 and 7:2.
The most striking ones for this 1st Gemini are:

"Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins, which feedeth among the lilies".Song 4:5.

I am my beloved`s, and my beloved is mine:he feedeth among the lilies." Song 6:3

The mystic wonders of Solomon`s Song may be interpretated on many levels, literal, symbolic and Kabbalistic. See the Literature.

THE LOOKING GLASS
"Before the throne there is a Sea of glass like unto Crystal".(Revelation of wonders beyond our physical eyes) Rev.4:6.

Note
In Camogli in Italy, at the bottom of the clear green sea there is a white statue of Christ, called The Christ Of The Depth , which has been placed there by Guido Galetto, an Italian sculpture.

Dylan -- Old Welsh. "From the Sea." Dylan was the Welsh god of the sea. Dylan Thomas was a famous Welsh poet who lived in the first half of the 20th century.

A poem from Linda Goodman
to David Bowie & Bob Dylan

Quote:

LOVE SIGNS
SCORPIO Woman - SCORPIO Man Section

(pg. 720 softcover)

the odd-shaped things I save
that smell, and feel of us...

a crumpled book of matches from the pizza place
some wilted flowers
picked outside the door

you couldn't enter

a bleached and crooked twig
washed ashore at that spot on the sand
where you first said you were lonely

and suprised me into tears

a hotel room key
stuffed inside an airline ticket envelope

......I guess you saved the bird verse
and the memory of my last smile...

they take so little room in your scrapbook*

Venus Trines at Midnight, by Linda Goodman

And every one of them words rang true
And glowed like burnin' coal
Pourin' off of every page
Like it was written in my soul from me to you,
Tangled up in blue.

CD & thank you!

Here's another Hotel that very accurately describes LG's Shabby Hotel... The Grateful Dead FROM THE MARS HOTEL.

The first song on side 2 FROM THE MARS HOTEL is Scarlet Begonias.

"Scarlet Begonias"
words by Robert Hunter; music by Jerry Garcia
("Scarlet Begonias" composed and written by Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter. Ice Nine Publishing Co., Inc. (ASAP))

As I was walkin' round Grosvenor Square <---(how can you walk round a square ?)
Not a chill to the winter
but a nip to the air
From the other direction
she was calling my eye
It could be an illusion
but I might as well try
Might as well try.

She had rings on her fingers and
bells on her shoes,
And I knew without askin' she was
into the blues
Scarlet begonias
tucked into her curls
I knew right away
she was not like other girls--
other girls

In the thick of the evening
when the dealing got rough
She was too pat to open and
too cool to bluff
As I picked up my matches and
was closing the door
I had one of those flashes:
I'd been there before--
been there before.

[Bridge]
I ain't often right
but I've never been wrong
It seldom turns out the way
it does in the song

Once in a while
you get shown the Light
in the strangest of places
if you look at it right
<---

Well there ain't nothin' wrong
with the way she moves
Or scarlet begonias or a
touch of the blues
And there's nothing wrong with
the love that's in her eye
I had to learn the hard way
to let her pass by--
let her pass by

The wind in the willows played Tea for Two
The sky was yellow and the Sun was blue
Strangers stopped strangers
just to shake their hand
Everybody's playing
in the Heart of Gold Band
Heart of Gold Band

Scarlet Begonias
Musical details:

* Key: E
* Time signature: 4/4
* Chords used: E, B, A, F#
* Songbook availability:
o Grateful Dead, vol. II
o Anthology

"Scarlet Begonias" debuted on March 23, 1974, at the Cow Palace in Daly City, California. The show also included the first "Cassidy," as well as the sound test for the famous "wall of sound" system. It appeared in the first set, between "Black Throated Wind" and "Beat It On Down the Line."

Two days later, the group began recording From the Mars Hotel, on which the song appears. (DeadBase)

Recorded on

* From the Mars Hotel
* Dick's Picks, v. 6

Robert Hunter recorded the song on his Box of Rain album. (1991)

Keith and Donna Godchaux covered the tune on The Ghosts Playing in the Heart of Gold Band. (1984)

Blair Jackson, in Grateful Dead: the Music Never Stopped, says this about the song: "`Scarlet Begonias" remains one of Hunter and Garcia's very best songs, with its intricate percolating rhythm...a bright, tuneful melody, and dreamy lyrics: `The wind in the willows played "Tea for Two'/The sky was yellow and the sun was blue,' the final verse begins, continuing with a wonderfully worded sentiment that describes the bond between Deadheads and the band--`Strangers stoppin' strangers/just to shake their hand/Everybody's playing in the heart of gold band.' If there is one sentiment that is repeated over and over again by both Deadheads and the band, it is that they feel they are all actually part of the same animal, in the same sense that a Grateful Dead show is a giant gestalt in which the band and the audience support each other. Everyone is in the band in that respect." (p. 155)

LOve&LIght,
Stephanie

PS. Thanks again to David in the Vault...you're a St.

Grateful Dead Time Capsule

12/?/65 "Grateful Dead" founded in San Francisco

Formerly the Warlocks, Phil saw an album by another band of the same name. Many other names were considered, including Emergency Crew, Mythical Ethical Icicle Tricycle, and Nonreality Sandwich. Smoking DMT one day at Phil's place, they decided to try Valentinian chance - using a randomly selected passage from a book.

Jerry recalled: "One day we were over at Phil's house...He had a big dictionary. I opened it and there was 'Grateful Dead', those words juxtaposed. It was one of those moments, you know, like everything else went blank, diffuse, just sort of oozed away, and there was GRATEFUL DEAD in big, black letters edged all around in gold, man, blasting out at me, such a stunning combination. So I said, 'How about Grateful Dead?' And that was it." The phrase has been attributed to several sources, with much confusion .

Funk & Wagnalls New Practical Standard Dictionary of the English Language:
GRATEFUL DEAD: The motif of a cycle of folk tales which begin with the hero's coming upon a group of people ill-treating or refusing to bury the corpse of a man who had died without paying his debts. He gives his last penny, either to pay the man's debts or to give him a decent burial. Within a few hours he meets with a travelling companion who aids him in some impossible task, gets him a fortune, saves his life, etc. The story ends with the companion's disclosing himself as the man whose corpse the other had befriended.

They later came across this supporting text on the burial of Egyptian pharaohs in the Egyptian Book of the Dead:
"We now return our souls to the creator, as we stand on the edge of eternal darkness. Let our chant fill the void in order that others may know. In the land of the night the ship of the sun is drawn by the grateful dead."

Original Grateful Dead:

Jerry Garcia, 23 - guitar, vocals
Bob Weir, 18 - guitar, vocals
Phil Lesh, 25 - bass, vocals
Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, 20 - keyboards, harmonica, vocals
Bill Kreutzmann, 19 - drums

THE MOTELS

Only The Lonely

We walked the loneliest mile
We smiled without any style
We kiss altogether wrong
No intention

We lied about each others drinks
We lived without each other thinkin'
What anyone would do
Without me and you

Chorus:
It's like I told you
Only the lonely can play

So hold on here we go
Hold on to nothin' we know
I feel so lonely way up here

We mention the time we were together
So long ago, well I don't remember
All I know is that it makes me feel good now

Repeat chorus

*********************

Remember The Nights

Fragrance of that long lost evening
Tender moves that keep repeating
Soft night's melody that I can't forget
Younger boy and helpless girl
Passion of the other world
Strange old place from a
Nursery rhyme that I can't forget
I can't go back,but I can't stay
Help me
Remember the nights with you

Street corner stands in shade
Lanterns swing in the heat of day
Old lady sings the song that I can't forget

Little girl that asked you who
Collects the flowers they give to you
Her eyes, her dress, the sky
The blue that you can't forget
I can't go back, but I can't stay
Help me
Remember the nights with you
(repeat)

Long ago and far away
Memory like a dream
I stay in the other place
The other time that I can't forget
I can't go back, but I can't stay
Help me
Remember the nights
Remember the nights
Remember the nights with you

****************************

Total Control

Looking counter clockwise
Knowing what could happen
Any moment maybe you maybe even you

Steadfast collapse
Always certain any moment
Maybe you maybe you
Maybe even you
Recline complete dream too sweet
I can't do it not with you
Not even with you
Maybe never with you

And I'd sell my soul for
Total control

Yeah I'd sell my soul for
Total control

Street wet tonight, lovers touch
It's pure delight
Always certain any moment
Maybe even you
Stay in bed stained sheets
My head hurts I repeat
Maybe you maybe you maybe even you

And I'd sell my soul for
Total control
Yeah I'd sell my soul for
Total control
Ooh I'd sell my soul for
Total control over you
Over you
Total control over you
