Hi Everyone

This forum seemed like a good place to share about visitations from Mom from the other side.

Just in case you haven't read my article in this month's Newsletter, I wrote a Eulogy to my Mom who passed over in March. We had a sign/symbol that she would use to let me know when she was around. It was/is a butterfly. I shared this story with my brother and other family members as well and they look to it as their sign as well.

During the first family get together since her passing my youngest nephew saw a butterfly when they were all together fishing and said "Look Mom, a butterfly... it's Nana Lois!"

The most recent incident was this past Saturday. It was my nephew Patrick's Communion. My Sister-in-law Lynn was in the kitchen putting some food away while my brother and Dad were in the same room talking about Mom, when all of a sudden Lynn noticed a butterfly flutter past the window. She got my Dad and brother's attention, and they were all speechless. When she told me about it, I got chills. She said "I knew she wouldn't miss Patricks Comminion."

The other incident was even more remarkable... my son was home alone on this same night (he's 16). He had two friends spend the night and was the last one to bed and the first one up in the morning. I had a picture my Mom had given me sitting against a table that I had planned to hang, but hadn't yet got around to it. He asked me yesterday where I had that picture at. I told him, right there on the floor leaning against the table, why? He said because when I got up Sat morning it was laying on the recliner. I asked my friends if they had done it, and they said no. I knew right away that it was my Mom. She used to call my son if we were to spend the night away from home to check on him, and talk to him, she told me that she could tell that he liked when she did this. I told him "It was Nana, letting you know that she was here checking in on you."

Hi Kel,

I very much enjoyed your article...the synchrony of the fluttering of Spring's first butterflies and Mother's Day yesterday...

I recently cleaned up an Alice in Wonderland pic, which was scanned on two pieces of paper so I removed the paper seam & other digital tweeking...thought you might like...

How wonderful that Lois was there for these occasions! Beautiful, Kel!

I know... huh Maria?

I talked to my Dad today and he told me a little detail about the butterfly story that Lynn hadn't shared. It was extremely windy all day which is not the kind of day that one is likely to see butterfly's at all let alone flying past a window... Even my Dad was a believer and he can be somewhat skeptical. He told me that he read my Eulogy too, and really liked it. He said that it was the eulogy that should have been shared that day.

Check this out...

I found out from Lynn either Tues or Wed that the butterfly she had seen was yellow as we were emailing back and fourth, then an hour or so later I was upstairs looking out the bathroom window and saw a yellow butterfly flying up high above by back deck going from my house towards my neighbor Debbie's house. To me it was a confirmation from Mom that it had indeed been her visiting the day of her grandson's Communion.

Oops...

I found out the other day that my son's friend had moved the picture from against the table to the recliner. The kittens were playing and he was worried that they might tear up the picture, so he moved it. I guess Tom just didn't look in the living room before going to bed. I had asked him if he asked his friends when he asked me about it and he said yes at the time... Oh well, I still believe that she was watching over him, she just didn't move the picture.

Well... I hate to mess up the 11:11 standing with this thread, but I have more butterfly stories to share. One from my son and one from my Dad.

A couple of weeks ago my son washed my Mom's car that was left to me. When he was done he took some pictures, and as he was leaning back into our front bushes a yellow butterfly made it's presence known. When he told me about it, I said "Nana wanted to let you know that you did a good job cleaning her car."

My Dad shared this with me a couple of days ago. He and his wife went to Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh to see the plants and such. He didn't know that they now have a butterfly room. When he walked in there there were butterflies galore and he said "OK now which one of you is Lois?" It didn't take long before this one butterfly was all around my Dad and wouldn't leave him alone for the longest time. He asked me what my Mom's favorite color was, and I said I'm not sure, but she always liked fall colors. He said it was orange, and when it eventually landed on a flower he got a picture of it that he was going to send me. I can't wait to see it!

I almost forgot the one that happened to me...

My brother and his family were just in this past Thurs, Fri & Sat am for their first visit to KY. On Saturday we went to Mammoth Cave for a tour and then Troy took them all fishing at a friends house. I stayed behind to prepare dinner since it was already late. Before they left my brother had noticed a little white butterfly hanging around our front bushes and said "Hey, there's Mom checking in on us" and we both smiled. After they all left I was in and out of the house checking on the kittens who were out in the bushes and front yard playing, and every time I'd come out that white butterfly was still there. I thought, ahhh, Mom stayed here to hang out with me and the animals.

Hi Y'All,

I don't have any new butterfly stories to share but wanted to share that I found this journal and little picture portfolio at a Dollar General store that has real pressed flowers in it and butterflies all over the cover. I got it for a discount for $1.40 and thought I'll write my butterfly encounters in it. I think Mom guided me to it, as she was quite the bargain hunter herself. Luckily I've shared them here so I can backtrack.

Most excellent, Kelly. I like the one with the car and cats. I like the one where your Dad asks and gets an answer. You know, John Lennon said he'd be a feather floating down. But you have to catch one in mid-float to claim a Lennon sighting. My medicine teacher is, of course, a crow. An intense, almost scary-looking loud one. He comes around and yells at me every now and then, and I say, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, I hear ya. Shut up about all that and tell me how you are."

This site is Greg's butterfly. Some of his relatives who had lost touch with him some time ago, just recently went looking for him and found him here.

Whole lot of touching stuff in these last few days, mixed in with some painful stuff too, like this abcessed tooth I've got that feels like a terrible earache. Ahh, the human condition in all our perfect imperfection.

Keep the stories coming.

Love,
Maria

Thanks Maria, I'm glad you are enjoying them.

I thought it was how Mom decided to hang out with me and keep an eye on the kitties playing. Who knows maybe she was with my brother and crew fishing too (since spirits can bylocate - be two places at once)... I forgot to ask if they had a butterfly sighting there.

My Dad is too funny, he thinks my Mom (in butterfly form) is mad at or attacking him, because the one he saw at Phipps seemed to be doing this... then I find out that they saw another orange butterfly doing the same thing (coming at my Dad towards his face over and over again) at the graduation party this weekend! I said, no Dad, she's not mad at you she just wants to make sure you know it's her and is giving you love.

It's too wild how it was another orange one... just like here at CE/Metamorphosis. That's so wonderful and heartwarming to hear how Greg's long lost family members have found him here. That is why I wanted to do my Mom's eulogy here, since the butterfly is such a significant part of this place.
