All our accounting is available under the About part of the menu, but I went ahead and collected this up so you can understand the server situation of the last 11 months and see an estimate for the next 12.

If you add in other things besides the server that I've paid for, I've spent more than $800 keeping us afloat. Also, the folks that have provided the "site revenue" at $100 a month can now only pay half of that, so there's another $600 I've have to find a way to cover...

You can see it's looking tough.

SERVER CONTRIBUTIONS OVERVIEW
I have contributed: $762.59
Layla has contributed: $256.80
Other CE members have contributed: $489.20
Dragon Court members have contributed: $277.32
Site revenue contributed: $766.40
Co-op revenue contributed: $23.77
Total contributed/spent on server for 11 months: $2,576.08

Hey guys

Do you think we could find a dozen angels among us to each offer to cover a month? People could partner up too, if they don't have the same means. I know we're all in different economic positions, and no one should feel pressued to give more than they can bear, but I think all of us had enough of a jump in the last couple days of the site being off-line to realize that if we want to keep this place going we need to push up our sleeves and muck in a little more.

I know Layla mentioned she was going to talk to her family about handling some of the site's expenses, so maybe she'll come back here with soem other good ideas. In the meantime, I think we should think about the year ahead - for example, in my own life, b/c I will work extra hours in the last two weeks of December, I will have more when I get paid in January - not enough to cover a whole month, but enough to offer half towards February? I think between us we might be able to plan out a solution - especially now that we know what we need to raise. Its not the same shot in the dark that it was during the early part of last year...

Love,
Terri

Living on a fixed income... when the price of food, heating, gas and everything else keeps going up while, like Nero, Bush just fiddles, oblivious to it all...is a challenge but I will do what I can, Terri.

I am confident that with prayer, God's help and Greg's help this site will go on. Right now our dedication and commitment to CE is being challenged and as you said, Terri, we all got a big wake up call when the site went down for just a short time. We do need to step up to plate and do all we possibly can to help Maria and Greg's family keep the site going. For all that Greg has done for and given to us we can do less to keep his legacy going.

Love, Connie

Hey Connie

You know, I was thinking last night about the needs of the site. Money is something obvious and crucial, but money alone does not make this site what it is. Money pays the rent for the space, but it's the people living here who make the family. To strech that family analogy a bit, I think that when alot of us first met up here we were in the teenage phase of life; questioning, asserting, sometimes fighting. Then I think alot of us grew up and spread our wings and moved away - but like kids coming home for the holidays, we still need this place to call home, to use as our touchstones. But if you look at the last six months or so, while the money has been there to keep the site open (Thankfully!!!) the human energy, the spirit of the place has dimmed considerably. So when the kids came home for the hoildays instead of finding their happy family talking and loving and cozy, they found that alot of their family had split too. The house was standing but it was quiet - which has its benefits too, for the introspective among us, but it doesn't give off that same welcome glow.

Which brings us to now and our needs - beyond money, we need human energy, plain and simple. There's a different vibe eminating from this place in just 48 hours, and that's only with about a dozen different people combining to post less than fifty messages. But its the quality of caring in those messages that makes the world of difference. And those contributions will always make this place what it is in a way that money never can.

So don't fret - we all have things we can give, and a gift of money isn't any more special than any of the rest.

Love,
Terri

Excuses, excuses, excuses.

One hambuger - #3.99
One beer - $2.00
A small loaf of cheese - $4.98
A gallon of milk - $3.79
A gallon of gas - $2.69
----------------------------
$16.35 x 200 users = $327.00

Women are, in general, skin flints.
Usually, the worst tippers, and have benn known to short their bill of their best friend's dinner party.
And you all know it.

Dar, that's the same stuff I was trying to tell taxpayers about the school bond. They didn't get it, though.

Personally, I'm a great tipper. I act like I'm Lady Bountiful even though I'm also on a fixed income, bills are going up for me as much as anyone and my husband isn't one who makes income generation from his end of things a priority. Wasn't that a nice, gentle way I said that about Doug? If a tithe is 1/10th of one's income, I've come quite close to a full tithe here to this place this year!

I'm not the church, and I'm not expecting that from others, I'm just saying...

And I've been very grateful for the donations we have gotten.

Love,
Maria

Hey Prox, I'm a good tipper too. Especially to waitresses. It's a hard job being on your feet all day like that.

That is unless the service is bad. Don't want to encourage bad service.

Terri, you are so right in that we can contribute in more ways than money. Loved the things you said in your post.

Men say that women are the worse skinflints but you notice they have things calculated down to the last dime. hee hee Butch does the same thing.

Love, Connie

Of course you are.
You are part Leo.

Yeah, the waitreses stroy. My daughter worked as waitress and caterer. when ever we went out to dinner she would watch how much I left for a tip. And I'm part leo, too. But if she thoht it should be more she would just grab it out of my hand and count it off. lol

My piece of pumpkin pie today, cost $3.39. It was the best piece ever. lol
