When it's most needed, it's least heeded...

Vice is an interesting Word. IT depicts many a thought in One's Mind when pondered.
From the small utility contraption in the workshop that holds things tightly in place to the numerous addictions and calamities that Mankind endures on his daily passage through Time; Vice conjures many images and offers Virtue as it's remedy.
Both of which are essentially concepts created through the existence of ManKind and it's perception and application to Life indeed!
aGain, the Whirled in witch we Live in and make Our own, we stand carefully poised between Vice and Virtue.
Pendalooming headstrong towards the latter; striving for Goodness and Righteousness....making straight the Path. Acting in Consciousness as Our Divine Creator expects. Hoping to attain Enlightenment through Good, Clean Living.
We seek Virtue. All Ways.

The Former, however, knows no such course of Action. It exists unto Itself. Here for no One in particular, except it's own plea sure. Exisiting only through it's own use, it bides it's Time, fully assured of it's attainment through ManKind's propensity to use It.

Lisa, that's quite true about existance needing us and missing us when we are gone. We leave a void that can't be filled by anything or anyone else.

I forgot who said it but someone said that whenever another human soul dies, "I too am diminished."

It would indeed be wonderful to feel at home wherever we go in life. I think most of us only feel at home with those who we know accept, approve of us and love us for just who we are. That would be mostly very close friends and family. Not to mention my cats.

I never feel at home when I am out in the world. It makes me tense and I can't wait to get back home to my safe haven. I guess that's in part because I am a taurus with cancer risings. A homebody. Home is where it is at for me. It's where I feel safe and protected.

Yeah, we should have an international be nice to one another day. We would all have to get rid of a lot of baggage for that to happen though. Mostly we only do things when we feel there is something in it for us...to fulfill a need we have. Even if that need is only to make us feel good.

Vice and Virtue:

I think it's true that we all live in the middle of both vice and virtue, and as you said, Chahlie, striving for virtue and constantly struggling to rid ourselves of vices. It seems the human condition that vice is a whole lot more enticing than virtue.

Last night I was surfing around the net concerning the subject of vice and virtue and I came across these astrology related charts. These are nothing new but it doesn't hurt to remind us that we have inate virtues but according to our astrological make-up we also have inate vices or at least the vices we are attracted and prone to.

I have been thinking alot about this vice we speak of. This attraction we pay dearly to ride on.
This temptation thing that seems to go hand in hand with our foot in our mouths, vice lives within Us.

Instilled in our Essense is an inclination to certain behavior indeed. All predisposed based upon our ETA. Giving us uniformity in our shortcomings, we are all well aware of each Other's vice as we deal with them on a daily basis. It's easy to see what's wrong with You and me.
I wonder though.....are Aquarian deer also erratic and reclusive at times?
Do Cancer birds eat more than their share?
Are Virgo spiders more hygenic than other spiders?
Do Libra cats settle catfights diplomatically?
Maybe Taurus fish would rather be on land?

This has been giving me Food for Thotht for some Time Now.

These innate vices, that seam to have a hold on Us before we even real eyes it, spiral into conscious creations that absorb our True Energy; either by consuming our HEart's desire in fear and anxiety or drowning our Pure intent in wastefull addictions. Oh the Power of the Mind! Not to mention the Genes....

Why don't animals have drinking problems?
Or eating disorders?

I think it is a trade-off of free will, Chahlie. Though it has never really been proven beyone a doubt that animals can't think, lower animal forms react by instinct instead of thought and choice. But then again so do some people. hee hee

For that reason it is my thought that the only vices that animals have are the ones they pick up from the people they live with.

They don't have eating disorders per se but if they live with people who eat even when they aren't really hungry then the animal will do the same. My cats want to eat every time we eat even if they just finished eating their food. They hear the can opener and they come running.

I have said before that in some ways lower animals may be better off than we are. They are content being just as they are whereas often we are not. A cat is happy just being a cat and doing the things that cats do and doesn't want to be a dog or anything else. We humans always want to be more than we are and we are always comparing ourselves to others. We always want to be prettier, richer, smarter more famous etc. Even in spirituality we even want to be more good or more holier than the next person. We are never content just being who we are and looking just the way we look or having just what we have. We always want more. We even look at life and say there has to be more to it than this.

Face it, we're all a mess but that's okay because God loves us just like we are. However, we even think that God expects more of us. See what I mean?

In all fairness I should say that the part about the tree was inspired by a friend~~A gifted writer, whom described so beautifully the way, when we come together in this life and touch each other's hearts in special ways, a tree is planted therein.

We, in our hasteful need for tangible confirmations, may uproot its tender roots...feeling we need to artificially re-pot it....place it upon our mantle for daily visual reminder of its existance. So fearful, if we let it out of our sight, we may lose it~~oblivious the very fear of losing is what loses.
If only to keep it natural within us and let its gradual budding leaves coolfully shade our anxieties. Allow all the gentle rains of our Trustful Receptiveness and Acceptance nourish it through time.
How much deeper and vaster may its roots spread.

Well then. We must have a serious Forest around hear.
I can't see it through All these Trees.

I don't believe the gentle rains within could Be without such Understanding or Awareness. Firstly, Acceptance and Love of Oneself, aLone. And this kind of Awareness couldn't come from blind Alliegiance or merely blind Hope...only through the timely shifts of an observationally-expanding... ever more understanding Soul.

Without this first Embrace and Love (of Self), the inner landscape would be too barren and dry to produce the right atmosphereic conditions needed for replenishment.

Commentary:

The branches of these two flowering trees are intertwined, and their fallen petals blend together on the ground in their beautiful colors. It is as if heaven and earth are bridged by love. But they stand individually, each rooted in the soil in their own connection with the earth. In this way they represent the essence of true friends, mature, easy with each other, natural. There is no urgency about their connection, no neediness, no desire to change the other into something else. This card indicates a readiness to enter this quality of friendliness. In the passage, you may notice that you are no longer interested in all kinds of dramas and romances that other people are engaged in. It is not a loss. It is the birth of a higher, more loving quality born of the fullness of experience. It is the birth of a love that is truly unconditional, without expectations or demands.
