In the "notes to myself" vein ... I figured out what was keeping the site from working and displaying correctly in browsers other than IE. Suchi, fyi, it was primarily the menu. We had to go to the absolute-link menu for everything (it used to be the Sub menu, but now both listed menus are the same). Then we also needed to put some different stuff in the <script> codes on each page related to the menu and in spacing for the NAVBAR. I have made the changes in the Home page and in all the pages in the About Us, Features, Discussion, and Links sections. I still need to get to the Newsletter and Co-op sections. The Newsletters have some other issues too in the other browsers, mainly the old bugaboo of the content of the pages starting halfway down the pages instead of at the top, so I'll get that worked out. A lot of people seem to be using Firefox these days, and the new version of Netscape is built on the Firefox engine, so I figure we'd better get it together for those folks. Then too, I want to get our regular site sidebar onto the Newsletter pages. Once I get those changes in place, I'll need to do another backup. Then there is yet another update available to the forums software that perhaps we should go ahead and implement this summer, once I've caught up. I've also got some requests for reciprocal links and other mail to deal with. I deleted two links that didn't work anymore, one of them being The Spiral Path. I didn't realize they'd closed up shop. I hope to see those folks around more here at our place. I should probably also reopen viewing of our forums to the general public, eh? Oh, also Suchi, I should tell you that I told the organization for which I set up the new website that if I die, they need to contact you! Thanks in advance and sorry I didn't ask for your permission to do that. We'll have to figure out a way to get you back into the database at that point. Love, Maria

Thanks for the update, Maria. The Spiral Path didn't close shop. Their site crashed back when ezboard had all it's problems. They did get back in the saddle, but have since changed their name. I love the new One~ Echos of No-Thingness We should perhaps ask them first if they would still like to be kept on as a link to us. Anyway...here is the addy: http://p201.ezboard.com/bthespiralpathLisa

I hope you don't plan on dying anytime soon, Maria? Sending a guardian angel to watch over you just in case! I'm completely out of the loop right now, so much so that I wonder if I'll be able to recognise the pages anymore. So, I suppose I should spend some time refamiliarising myself with the site. And definitely, we need to figure out how I can get to the database again. How's the situation with that creepy "journalist" fellow in your town?

So if she just has a stroke, I'll go fetch her out of the home and put her back in the chair. No one is allowed to die but me as I'm the oldest male and next in line, but I have no intentions of doing any such thing until after I cash my first S.S. check and spend it all on Southern Comfort, cigars and a ticket to Hawaii. Now get back to work, Marie. You have 24 more years to go. Darwin

Heh. Naw, it's just that their board includes a lawyer who had the audacity to ask, as lawyers will, "What happens if she dies?" To which I was able to respond, without gasping or batting an eye, "Then you may contact my associate in Bombay." I felt ever so cosmopolitan and sophisticated being able to say that, and everyone was quite satisfied with that answer, and my stock went up five points. I do still need to update that site (aspenmine.org) with the latest events and info now that they finally got the website approval through the board. I'll do that this weekend after the big Cresson Dance performances Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Or maybe I'll collapse on Sunday and do the web work Monday and Tuesday. School's out at the end of next week, so I should be able to breathe again soon. But Proxy, I'll hold you to that promise of fetching me out of the home. My husband is so theoretical, he'll still be working out how to fetch me in theory, while you're already hauling me into the chair. And thanks for the 24 years. I'll take 'em. Suchi, that pseudo-journalist is as creepy a blowhard numbskull as ever, if not more so, but he has other fish to fry. (Lemme tell it like it is. ) Lisa, thanks for the heads-up on The Spiral Path. I'll write them in about 10-14 days, unless you want to go ahead and ask, which would be quite OK by me. And Suchi, thanks for the guardian angel. Love, Maria

No problem, sweetheart You're always in my prayers. You deserve them! hee hee. "Associate in Bombay" sounds like some middle-aged man in a suit and tie sitting in a swivelling chair in a wood and glass office. Was that me you were talking about? Well, if the pseud's busy frying fish, do you reckon it is alright to make the forums public again? I don't know if it's necessary though. We sure have managed to keep out the occasional creeps who used to wander in. But, may be some genuine members who were missing for a long while just turned up a few times to see no forums and thought this place was dead?

I visit this site after ages, and on the first thread that I open, I see Maria wanting to die just so that her stock goes up 5 points. ROFL {{Hugs to you sweetheart}} Suchi ROFL again trying to imagine you in a suit and a tie. Would you like a on your lapel? oh Proxy, dont die yet please. Who'll haul Maria out of her chair otherwise?

A couple of nights ago, after a more sports-oriented mom in our dance group came in and tried to "pep talk" the dance kids, running right over the top of the quiet breathing and calming I was trying to take them through, and then blew up at me when I disagreed with her that what they needed was to see (again) their injured colleague for the third time in a matter of minutes in her injured condition (she has a bad knee that sometimes gets moved out of place and is very painful, and this time it happened right in the middle of a performance) -- and all the kids kept crying over and over again everytime they saw her like that with the paramedics helping her ... and this has become quite the run-on sentence, and I really backed into this story. But anyway, this other mom had it in her mind as if they were high school athletes who should salute their fallen colleague as she was taken from the field. But they aren't high school athletes. Most of them are a lot younger and more artistic/sensitive. And they needed to just breathe and recover and remember to love the audience and not go back out there all weepy. So anyway, this other mom is my friend and I didn't want us to stay mad, but I also dislike being bulldozed and ramrodded and overrun when I'm trying to take my more soothing approach. So I wrote her a note that said, "Just because I am small and quiet does not mean I am not old and wise." Not that you guys are likely to believe I'm quiet, but that's her impression of me. And being a Capricorn Moon, I've been an old lady ever since I was a little grown-up. But, as Proz says, I do have 24 more years until I'm 70, so let's get this show on the road! But enough about me. I'm sure that Suchi does look quite sharp in a suit! And how about you, Ani? Has anyone pressed you into wearing a sari this year? Good to see you here. Maria
