long time lurker, seldom poster here. hoping someone can offer their insight regarding my chart and a career change that i am contemplating.... i am toying with the idea of going back to school to get a degree in either indian (ayurveda/yoga) or chinese (acupuncture) medicine. i am hesitant for a couple of reasons: -it will take everything i have to fund my education. i don't want to waste my money if i will be energetically drained by my profession. - i have this gut feeling/paranoia that i will lose my relationship with my partner if i leave to go to school. i can feel that things are somewhat rocky, and i don't want sacrifice the relationship for something that will energetically drain me. Can someone take a peek at my chart and tell me if either of those fields are a good fit for me, astrologically? or should i go back to the drawing board? Are there any notable transits happening now or soon that I should be wary of before i make a major decision? my birth data: feb. 28, 1974 12:53 mobile, alabama, usa my partner (if you need it) may 24, 1966 15:23 sacramento, ca TIA,

Hi Star Drifter, Your study plans sound awesome to me! I haven't peeked at your chart yet, but I'll make it a point later today. Just speaking generally, though, I can understand your concern about how much energy it takes to delve into serious study, but remember that it has its invigorating moments too! I'm not all that good at relationships myself, lol. Maybe give myself a B- or C+ in that course of life study so far. But I think that's a pretty common conflict between what you need to do for your feeling of really doing something in the world and your devotion to a relationship. For some reason, this morning, it made me think of the 6 and 9 that Linda Goodman talked about in Star Signs. (Well, and that Jimi Hendrix sang about. ) Now if 6 turned out to be 9 I don't mind, I don't mind. Dig! 'Cause I got my own world to live through And I ain't gonna copy you.He sang something like that! But anyway, 6 and 9. House 6 is the Virgo unmarried stage full of serious service, devotion to duty, life force, health. House 9 is the pursuit of wider knowledge, the Socratic Sagittian. But remember the Archer is also a Satyr, lol. That guy is going out and getting some. Heh. In the house wheel, 6 moves into 7 and partnerships; 9 moves into 10 and career/place in the world. And into what Linda said, in an entirely different context really, in terms of numerology rather than astrology, but perhaps there's a fertile overlap in the codes ... anyway, she pointed out that in the battle of the 6 and 9, although 9 appears stronger, when you add them together, 6 always wins. 6+9=15, which is 6 (1+5). Of course, what that says in relation to your question is debatable! She was talking not about house numbers but about planets vibrating to certain numbers (and this comes out of medieval Arabic studies, I think), where Venus has affinity with 6 and Mars with 9. Which, of course, takes the 6 and 9 into the context of female and male. Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, right? And actually the 6th and 9th houses set up a female/male face-off too, symbolically. The 6th house in the natural chart is the sign of Virgo, the quintessential female in her prime, capable and analytical and unpartnered. The 9th house is the jovial and randy male energy on the quest for expansive knowlege and big adventure. All of which is to say, take a look at your 6th and 9th houses and the transits affecting those and see what you see. Your 7th and 10th too. 7th is marriage and 10th is career. And now, here's a springtime equation: + + earth = Although up here in the mountains this morning it's expressed thus: + + earth = Maria

Hey, wow, Star. I'm just looking at your natal right now. Very cool chart, I'd say. Sun and Merc in Pisces at the Midheaven, Taurus Ascendant, but darn near everything else is arranged in a couple of different grand trines in air signs. So I'm reading compassion, strength, and a whole lot of intellect. But maybe it's easier to think about things than do them. You have, natally, nothing in fire but dreamy Neptune. So I can definitely see from the first bunch of stuff how alternative medicine would appeal to you and be a good fit. And from the second, I can understand the worry about draining energy. So let's see what's going on with transits. Hey, there actually is a lot going on in the 6th and 9th houses -- the tip I channeled from Jimi Hendrix above. And flopping over into the 7th and 10th houses. So hang on a minuite, I'm going to have to stare at this awhile. Maria

OK, let's start here. In your 9th house of higher education and adventure, transiting Uranus, planet of transformative changes, is smack-dab conjunct with your natal Sun, your primary sense of self. I'm going to say, just from that, "Go do this thing. Go do the studies that will transform yourself." In the same house, transiting Mars, planet of willful action, is conjoining your natal Mercury, planet of mind and communications. That also puts transiting Mars in loose trines with your natal Uranus and Saturn. So all that energy supports willful, mindful change, relating to consciousness and structure (Saturn), with again, a primary focal point in the 9th house of higher education, long distances, adventure. Down in your 6th house of service, transiting Jupiter is trining your natal Chiron in the 10th house, and Chiron represents your inner "wounded healer," so Jupiter is putting a benevolent focus on that inner healer, lending it power. And the transiting Sun is conjunct your Chiron, aiding in the healing and enlightenment. All of this says that the aims of your study are true and supported by the universe right now. Now for the not-so-good news, and I'm not terribly good at being tactful: In terms of energy, and related to your relationship, Pluto the big dog of plutonium is transiting your 7th house of partnerships, so it's entirely possible that he's going to pluto your partnership, as in blow it into oblivion. If not destruction, there will be major transformations in partnerships when Pluto transits the 7th. In addition, that transiting Pluto is quincunx your natal Mars and Moon. That's an uncomfortable angle, and I'm going to suggest your inner Mars, willful action center, and your inner feelings, Moon, are making you feel unappreciated and like you're not getting what you deserve in the relationship. Like there's intensity in the relationship, but maybe it's holding you back. Your energy and feelings are kind of squashed down, but they may also flare up. The thing about Pluto is he doesn't move much. He goes retrograde-direct-retrograde-direct, and it'll take about five years before you're completely out from under that influence that might make you feel like your energy and feelings are kind of pushed down under pressure and not entirely free for you to use. And he'll be in your partnership house even longer than that, so partnerships for some time could be intense and unstable. Hope this helps. Sorry it's not all grand! Maria
