Wow! Maria and Steph,

This forum is new to me and everyone else too I'm sure. Stuff right up my alley! A friend of mine had me moderate on forums she had on her site (before she decided not to stay in that format and went to blogs) and my area (one of them at least) was similar. Health and healing, but we do a fair amount of organic gardening, and take care of our pets (a house of cats and a Rotty) as naturally as we can afford. If we were flowing with the green we'd be living all organic!!!

& Just to let everyone know I'm pretty stretched for time, but I'll pop in as much as I can.

And Veneo it is expensive to eat organic, but I think the prices have gone down some in the past few years as more people are eating organic. There are also tips and tricks to saving $$. For example we don't buy organic bananas and some other thicker rind fruits and veggies. Unless you are planning on eating the banana peel, I think it's a waste of money buying organic bananas.

We usually buy "regular" oranges...unless I'm making my favorite cranberry-orange scone recipe which calls for 1 Tbsp of orange peel zest then I'll buy organic oranges. However the last time I went to purchase oranges at our local Wal-Mart Superstore there was a piece of paper in the mesh bag that informed the consumer that the oranges had been treated with dye to enhance the color of the fruit. I haven't seen this before, so I went to Fresh & Natural Food (my favorite health conscious grocer) and bought organic oranges.

Good tips, HRH! The only milk available at my regular supermarket these days is organic, and I actually use very little milk, although I use a lot of half-and-half. But I have to say the organic milk tastes strange to me.
