She said, "Are you hungry?"

He responded, "No, are you?"

"Just a bit", came the reply..a gentle whisper of a suggestion more than anything.

"Then I will catch you a fish for your supper..and we will dine together under the stars, beside the fire..in the light of the Moon, and it will please the Lord if it is pleasant to you."

She took his hand in hers and kissed it. A tear fell from her eye to meet one of his own among the verdant blades below.

And so he took his kit and he rigged it up and began to angle as if his life depended on it, for it did. And though he wasn't hungry..he was starving; without a growl to his belly, nor thoughts of food on his tongue.

Thus it was that he was driven to ply his skills throughout the late afternoon hours until 3 were bagged there. Fare enough to feed a princess and a grateful servant-prince.

The River's blessings rarely failed to come swiftly downstream.

"I am here, dear heart", he called to her, when the distance between them would first allow it. Had he been gone long? Would he go again? "All for you dear queen", he thought, then ran to see her there.

And the fire was lit and the time came to prepare the food..but he'd thought about it and knew his duty too. So he took the fish to a spot away, to prepare it there. To hide from her sight what God would not place before her, an ugliness that might harm the Timeless Child. He would shield her, serve her. This was his call.

"They are ready", he sighed in her ear as they fried..and there were moments I won't here describe. These windswept lovers, behind tall flames and gray smoke met on some other plane.
The smell of their dinner awoke them; his hand falling from her face..he prepared them.

"Your supper, darling", he bowed.

"Oh, you sweet man", she smiled and cried.

And they fell into each other's arms again for another time, while the cool breeze of nighttime dropped softly as mother's kiss upon their foreheads.

"Is it enough, my love?"

"It always was."

"Then it is pleasant to God and so me."

With great loves, there is a connection that allows mere words to suffice. Rare, but also undeniably nice.

When the fish were ready and the Moon had risen to the stranded heather height of dusk's daydream; the couple (well fed) drank of love between bites of their supper.

The End

Baby

I love you.

Under a cool jeweled moon
two hearts know
finally know
finally feel
unneeded words that failed
to fill
a lifetime of wandering
and waiting

And could Stars be wrong
compassing,
forming,
birthing
radiating heavenly light
as tender and innocent
as the gravitational tides
that converged
their existence.

Lying with you
on early spring’s
dormant pressed grass
the wind caressed our skin
We became the wind
Passing clouds kissed
swaying treetops~
the clouds became the trees,
the trees became the clouds,

we became the window to God

We were the sky,
the curious, peeking sun
We were the birds
gently present chirps
sounding
eternal symphony
to rememberance

How could not
such blessed sacrament
but pulse a gift of love
that moved
a world of sighs to smile
a gentle hope
rightening the flow
that had forever whispered
its ancient embracing promise
almost forgotten.

'Twere not forgotten, love
But kept safe within the confines
Of a heart as yet unmet
And God alone knows why
The wait was long
Insistent longing ache
But if nature does not respond to pressure
Tell me heart
Who could've rushed its pace?

Here now
In the glen
Beyond the meadow
Where crepuscular rays
Break through the virgin pine
There are eyes watching you
Only a dance and chase away
From where the grass breaks
And begs to be trampled.

I lifted my guitar
To find your lips pressed there
Among the squandered ash
Forgotten drags
Backdropped in conversation
And in the spent and mashed
A splash of color stood sacred
..tulips.

there goes the face
I ache to see
arms long to hold me
yours are so heavenly
a fairy tale
that a daydream told me
once
in a budding Spring bloom
whispers from a mem'ry
when you illuminate the room

As you walk away
(or to your next destination as it were)
with your hair
swaying left to right
like a gossamer clock pendulum
I wonder if maybe
There is some mesmerizing hypnosis
Built into the female condition

I wonder also if perhaps
for those very few of you
whose credentials announce a lady
there exists an internal timing;
nature's own clockwork siren song
causing hips to rock
and hair to swing
to the rhythm
of an otherwise placid beast
that is brought to rise
from the depths of me
by oscillations
most distinctly feminine
in their choreography

I see your sway
and is it any wonder
that I long to dance?

You said, one day
"I'm afraid
that you'll grow tired
of me."
And though my response was honest
it was not complete
because I also grinned at myself
a smile greeted our shared insecurity
I leapt high, down below
to know that
your fears are unfounded

Perhaps that means mine are too

For that day
(which must never arrive)
would convene a Grand Jury
bringing charges to bear against me
for reckless loving
and High Crimes of the heart.

Who are these stoic women
gently bearing the burden
that brings us through
our darkest days?

What race spawned these
warrior winds
with hearts that carry on
while our grief
aids the struggle?

Who sent to us
these lovely beings
and how do they so remain?

If you couldn't find your shirt
this morning
it's because I've hidden it away
along with your
slacks, socks, pants
and other articles
(which I won't here mention)

I'm holding them for ransom;
as a keepsake
of an April night together
warm caress and sultry moon
when there was no goal
but a taste or better
when the fabric hit the floor
to be hidden away
for remembrance
until a fresher set
replaces them.

Darling Lisa,

Hey sun shine,
your name's
been on my lips forever
Sing for me
and do you mind
if we should sing together?

I never knew
the sound of a lullaby
until I heard you singing
A note or two
into the melody
and my heart was ringing

Baby,
your voice
is the sound
of my own fast beating heart
Another word or two
until you break my heart
And my heart's still beating, beating

Make a wish
And I will try my best
To help you see it
Sing your song
So to my loving
I can't quite believe it

Were there ever two
who sang a tune
So beautifully together?
Could it be that you
might be the music
that goes on forever?

Baby,
your voice
is the sound
of my own fast beating heart
Another word or two
until you hit the mark
And my heart is beating, beating..baby
Your voice
is the sound
of my own fast beating heart
Another word or two
until you break my heart
and my heart's still beating, beating

Yea my heart's still beating, beating

My heart's still beating.

Love,

daf

It isn't right
you know
that you woke up
so close to the ground.

It isn't what
the gods would see
if there were gods
at all.

They'd raise you up
tall and proud
to inflated heights,
present to the All
your regal state;
placing kisses
upon your grace
and upon your eyelids
when you wake.

Missed the last moments
of your face
as they backed down the drive
this morning

And if God forbid
the day should deem
you not return to me
I will continue to regret
that fatal distraction

Having failed
to cherish you enough
I will not try to stop
the night's relentless cold
consequence.

An enchanting face
in my dreams these days
is singular and composed
of hopeful days
tender wishes
blessed breath
and Venus' kisses
It fascinates
my dream mind
steals my senses
upon waking
when the sight
that greets my eyes
comes into focus
and is you.

Used your towel
to dry my face
You're not around
but the scent
still remains
Like pink candy hints
of just-washed skin
the wildflower fields
of freshly shampooed hair
an underlying trace
of you
your demure notes of lingering
I clothe myself in these
and am with you
your silken touch upon me..
then it is gone
A towel is all.

Lifting this to my eyes
I dry my face.

Exquisite poetry.

True loving sentiments.

I dont want to trespass here.

You are two astonishing people.

I will always have my guilt and deep regrets,
but my worries are not what they were.

It brings some peace to know that you have found each other.

That you are happy, Lisa.

God Bless You Both.

And forgive me this intrusion.

Lisa,

Songs that once stuck
in our minds
aren't shaken easily
can still be lost
my love
with time
though called eventually
Then sung
or listened to, when found
acquaintances again
Perhaps forgotten soon about
Perhaps never again
But of these two
you never were
for I will not forget
the loveliest tune
I ever knew
the sweetest I know yet
Until your heart
envelopes mine
and I should cease to be
know this, dear muse
my heart beats true
unto your melody.

Lisa,

April snows
and like the storm winds blow
I find my
heart racing
down the way to where you're waiting

Each gentle
flake that falls is like a
rare feather
Baby could we catch them all?

They're
tittillating
All updated
Shining like the sparkle
in your eyes
when we're together lately

Could I catch you
in my arms and
hold you like a feather
in the snowy April weather, baby?

(refrain)

Rains will come
and darling
'fore they're done
I'll taste the
*cool magic*
sent with every one

Raindrop
glist-en-ing embrace
could ask
tender fingers to softly touch a face

That is
Tittillated
Fascinated
By the sparkle in your eyes
under the rain
when we're together lately

Could I catch you
in my arms and
taste you like the raining
on a cloudy April morning, baby?

(refrain)

(break down)
Can I keep you with me
through these fickle
April days?

Setting sun
the day is almost done
Come to a
warm lover
who'd never love another one

Until the stars
come out to play we'll
try to catch the envy
of a sunny April day

We'll leave it
Titillated
So frustrated
trying hard to sparkle
like your eyes
when we're together lately

Could I catch you
in my arms and
blaze into the summer
from the spell you put me under, baby?

I'm not sure why
I love you so
Just so you know
I'm not alone
thoughts and memories
are sufficient company
and when the moments
of our lives
aren't so tightly intertwined
through the distance
they will hold you close to me.

If destiny
should coldly go
where no heart
should ever know:
into a dreary world
devoid of your embrace
I'll call those thoughts
and other things
left of the time
you spent with me
to raise a glass or two
in memory of your face.

*blush*

thank you. {{{}}}

Darling,
I've waited for you
for a thousand years

in this dull-polished amber
held back the tears

the highways eclisped me
the meadows grew far;
time a bereaved
bretheren of afar

How I paced back the miles,
retraced every step

all the while,
the memory
of your precious soul
held warm against my heart.

Dear precious Lisa,

Could it be that angels
also wearied need to rest
with the troubles of humanity
clung tightly to their breast?

Is there solace and forgiveness
found in slumber's peaceful place?
Could blessed rest restore the faith
which ever keeps them strong and safe
among our selfish kind
with our simple, brutal minds?

Does divinity, on waking
find itself recalled to life
in the midst of mediocrity
and endless mortal strife?

Is sleep's healing tasked with softening
a constant angel's test?
Could the look upon your sleeping face
mean angels also rest?

Love,

daf
