I totally have never gotten it and still don't. Spammers know that spam filters catch most of their emails and that people just summarily delete the rest without so much as a glance or yawn. So what really is the point? Is it like climbing the mountain because it's there? Anyone got a clue?

Good question! I've wondered the same myself...

I sometimes think it's an ego trip for the people who send them out, and they operate on the belief that for every 1000 skeptics and "deleters," wink there's still that one sucker born every minute.

Or maybe they're all a bunch of computer geeks sitting in their parents' basements watching the X-files and believing that it is their DUTY as secret-service-super-humans to "get the word out." grin
