Halo Fellow Mystes and Wanderers~
Once again the Special Tyme of Year is upon Us.
The Time of Yule when we begin to reflect the Year gone by.
The cold is here to stay.
The trees stand naked in the ground.
The air is still with a hint of Magic to It.
Something special this Way comes.....does It not?
Is it Santa?
Some Saint long ago that now resides North of the Arctic
on the last iceberg Al Gore is trying to save?
An Old Elven Soul who decides who is naughty and nice and rewards them with Gifts from Best Buy?
A Jolly Fat man who tries to teach Us charity by giving It All away?
Yes. I guess so.
Having children under 9 certainly indulges such fantasies.
The perpetual Tale of endless Rankin and Bass stories
that tell Us the morals everyone else leaves out 11 months a year.
I feed into It I guess.
I find myself devulging my children with such non-Sense
as to Be a good sport and "have Spirit."
It happens so fast....this Parenting thing.
Never any Time to take a "Time-out "myself and
think about It.
The fury of the Season seems to come earlier every Year...
(I think I bought my Tree on Halloween!?!? :/)
I perpetuate what has been taught to me....
Lights. Candles. Cookies. Presents. Stockings.
Save the bows! (Santa reuses them

)
It All falls into place to year after year....but faster Now.
I find my Self resisting It though.
Knowing somewhere deep in my True Spirit
that this Time is about Being Quiet.
Sitting Still enough to hear reason for the Season.
Is It Jesus?
He had to have had a Birthday.
After All we named it mas Christ didn't we?
Being no Theologian,
but versed pretty well in the Good Book some Time ago...
I know the stories.
And then the altar boy Carols ingrained in my mind.
They all suggest that this Season is about His coming and birth.
Strange how we have come to interpret and relate such things.
We couldn't be any further away from such a Celebration.
I think Jesus would lock Him self in His room
on His Birthday if He were here NOW.
The last thing I think He would want are presents!
And all the gluttony. The shopping. The want. The need.
He definitely would not believe in Santa Claus.
But certainly, what the guy was trying to do.
Maybe that's why He granted Santa perpetual Life
and a hard to get to home.

Is It the Yule then?
The pagan Celebration of the onset of Winter.
The Glorious revel in Fire.
The humble thankfulness of what we already have.
The ominous chorus of song and dance?
The careful preparation of the darkness to come.
The hearth of the home and the warmness of sleeping bodies
huddled close together from the frosted windows.
The common sense practice of preparing the Harvest
for uncertain Times.
The allowance of the Garden to die...
to replenish. rest and reCover.
To Resurrect a gain when the Time is right and the Earth is ready!
The Yule.
It seems to me to Be much more simple.
And without All that guilt and conjured strories to prove a point
and "Make Believe".
There is no need to
make Believe.
The is no need for
believing at All.
There is only trusting and knowing,
is there not?
So much revolves around Jolly Ole St. Nick and Jesus.
So many stories that really twist and turn the fragile Minds of our youth.
Only to disappoint them when they discover
that the one that doesn't really exist gives us stuff
while the Other who did and does exist
is found only in their Hearts if they know and trust It so.
Receiving only Peace and Love for presents!
Sheesh. Some Christmas.
Granted.
This time of Year IS Special.
What makes IT so Special?
What's all the fuss?
Help me hear to understand peoples...
Before I become a character searching aimlessly
in a claymation forest of talking toys....
A Christmas Mystes.
