This reminded me of an article that I read about Beck a couple of weeks ago in the USA Weekend Magazine that comes with our Sunday paper.

Here is the article:

Don't judge Beck by his cover

Glenn Beck’s media empire is worth $23 million a year, according to Forbes.

Beck’s early radio days included an on-air stint with “scandalous” church secretary Jessica Hahn.

“I still don’t consider myself a political commentator. I’m a pop culture commentator at heart.”

Surprise! Glenn Beck’s house is energy-efficient.

The Glenn Beck most people know is the human equivalent of TNT — notoriously biting and combustible. The conservative commentator has compared President Obama to Hitler and campaigned (successfully) to get one of Obama’s White House appointees fired. He even slammed volunteerism, for goodness’ sake!

Outrage is his No. 1 tool,” says Robert Thompson, a TV/pop culture professor at Syracuse University. “He’s obviously not taking the serious pundit approach. He’ll take a position solely to push people’s buttons. He’s not interested in nuanced, rational debate. It’s not political discourse. It’s entertainment.”

High up in his Manhattan office, which takes an entire skyscraper floor to house his TV/book/magazine/radio/digital media company, Beck surprises you in person as an approachable and fun-to-hang-out-with kinda guy. He’s relaxed and inviting, comfy on his office couch in jeans, an “I "Heart" Capitalism” T-shirt and sneakers that, for some reason, don’t have any laces. Over the course of a pleasant (really!) conversation with USA WEEKEND Magazine, Beck, 46, sheds light on the lesser-known sides of his personality. He comes across as, well, fairly human — and eager to reveal these 10 things that we bet you didn’t know about him.

He bonds with George Clooney

One day, both of them ended up in the same radio studio building and had an extended conversation about genocide in Darfur. “We came to an immediate, completely wholehearted agreement about the situation,” Beck says. “That is, to put aside the politics and give troops what they need to protect people over there. He’s a good, honest man who believes passionately about doing something about it.”

He has many liberal pals

Yes, it’s true. Beck’s personal publicist, Matt Hiltzik, is a Democratic power player who helped get Hillary Rodham Clinton elected to the U.S. Senate. “And let me tell you about Liz Julis, the editor of my magazine, Fusion,” he says. “Every year, I match charitable donations that my employees make. She ends up giving her money away to some hippie hemp farm somewhere, and she loves to rub it in that I’m writing a check for something like that. She’s one of my favorite people because we hardly agree on anything, but we challenge each other.”

I don't judge Beck by his cover. I judge him by his actions and words. As I do all others regardless of who they may be.

Even though I had fun with the above post I don't find Beck all tha humorous. IMHO, The trouble with this type of "entertainment" ( outside of it not being at all amusing ) is there are so many people who believe things that Glenn Beck says and even quote him, it adds nothing positive to the national discourse, it divides people and this nation, and because so many people listen to him and believe what he says on his Fox "News" show, he has the ability to influence elections and tear down the character and reputations of other people. We can see how the kind of negative "entertainment" that Fox network passes off as "news" has effected the politics of this country. It all serves to divide people and divide this nation. As Abe Lincoln stated, " A nation at war with itself cannot long endure. United we stand. Divided we fall." The Glenn Becks and Sarah Palin's for their own ego and monetary gains are hastening what amounts to a prediction that Abe Lincoln made during the Civil War. He was pained by that war and the division it created in this nation. We should all be pained by that as well if we love this nation at all.

I would not pad Beck's ego futher by saying he has a "TNT equivalent" effect on me. To me he is much like a gnat or any other annoyance. You just want to put a distance between yourself and the pest.

What this article does is expose what a dishonest phoney Beck really is to those that believe what he says. The rest of us have known all along he was a phoney. It also exposes the dishonesty and phoniness of others such as Matt Hitlzik. Amazing what some people will do for money these days and without any concern at all for how their actions and words effect the nation and the lives of other human beings.

Judging by this interview Glenn Beck has no regrets and takes no responsibilty for his actions and words that effect others such as comparing Pres. Obama to Hitler and getting a White House appointee to resign due to Becks taking something he said out of context and turning it into something it never was meant to be. To Beck it is just entertainment that pays him very well. As long as his children will inherit the wealth he has amassed why should he care about the world he is forming for the children of other people?

It is true what the above video ends by saying - Beck is not only outrageous he is dangerous. Dangerous for this nation, dangerous to democracy.

Love, Connie love

This has been an ongoing thing from last week which I have been reluctant to post because I don't want to devote too much time to the likes of Glenn Beck. His ego just eats up the attention.

However, Glenn Beck told his listeners this past week that they should leave their churches because the words "Social Justice" ( which is taught by the majoritity of religions in the world and especially Christianity ) are "code words for Communism and Nazism." crazy After hearing from over 30,000 clergy and Christians Glenn Beck is now attacking and threatening Rev. Jim Wallis of Sojourners. Honestly, I agree with one person who commented that "Fox News should be made to pay for the clean up of the toxic waste that they spew out over the airwaves daily." I might remind Fox News that those airwaves that they pollute every day belong to the American public. And there should be limits to the toxic waste they spew out over the free airwaves. We should demand it of the FCC.

In Spite of Glenn Beck’s New Threats, My Invitation to Dialogue Stands

by Jim Wallis 03-15-2010

Last week, when radio and television talk show host Glenn Beck said that social justice is a “code word” for Communism and Nazism, and urged people to leave their churches if they teach social justice, I decided that message needed to be challenged.

Many church leaders from across the spectrum agreed with my concern that social and economic justice are deep biblical concerns and central to the teachings of all of our churches. Even Beck’s own Mormon church leaders were calling to assure me that they believe in social justice too. I thought Beck’s rather extreme and misguided comments needed a response, but I did not attack him personally; nor will I.

In fact, on Friday, I sent Glenn a letter proposing that the two of us sit down together and have an open and public discussion on what social justice really means and how Christians are called to engage in the struggle for justice. I said, “let’s make this a civil dialogue and not engage in personal attacks on each other — which is never helpful in trying to sort out what is true. So let’s talk about the heart of the matter.”

Well, on today’s Glenn Beck radio show, I got a response that disappointed me. Glenn Beck said:

"So Jim, I just wanted to pass this on to you. In my time I will respond — my time, well, kind of like God’s time, might be a day, might be a week to you, I’m not sure. But I’m going to get to it in my time, not your time. So you go ahead and you continue to do your protest thing, and that’s great. I love it. But just know — the hammer is coming, because little do you know, for eight weeks, we’ve been compiling information on you, your cute little organization, and all the other cute little people that are with you. And when the hammer comes, it’s going to be hammering hard and all through the night, over and over…"

He went on to say that “It’s weird how people all over the world have been sending me stuff. It’s weird that way, Jimmy.” Why is the idea of a civil dialogue such a threat to Glenn Beck? Glenn, let us please not resort to threats and attacks. To repeat, I have not and will not attack you personally, and I repeat my invitation to a civil dialogue on what social justice really means. Since you were the one to raise this issue and start this whole discussion, I just want it to end in a better and more civil way.

More than 30,000 Christian pastors and church members have written to you as Christians who believe in social justice and are asking you to reconsider your statements. This is a time for dialogue, not monologue, and I prayerfully ask you to consider my request for a conversation.

Take action. Tell Glenn Beck that you believe in Social Justice or helping your fellow man and trying to create a better world. Whether you are a Christian or not.
