Last night the Healthcare Reform bill passed it's final hurdle and millions of Americans without healthcare in the face of illness will now have access to medical coverage. The bill may be short of perfect in the eyes of many but it will still be worked on. Improvements will be made.
Along with the passage of this bill President Obama proved to the world just how strong his leadership really is because he did what no president, Democrat or Republican, could achieve in 100 years. More than that, Pres. Obama did it against all odds. No other president has had, not only the entire Republican Party and their followers working overtime against him in the hopes they could make him fail on every turn, he had the national media working against him in helping to promote the Republican lies about healthcare reform, and he had all that Insurance Company money being poured out to defeat the healthcare reform bill. The Insurance companies spent millions of dollars a day to defeat this bill.
That's the irony of this victory for Pres. Obama. The Republican Obstructionism has had the opposite effect they were hoping to acheive and instead of making the failure out of Obama as a leader that they were working so hard to do, they helped to prove what a great leader he really is!

Today most of the news is praising Obama's leadership as president and also the leadership of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.
Through all of this past year Obama has applied much of the same leadership qualities possessed by Martin Luther King Jr. In the face of all the Republican outright lies and slander against him he kept his calm and held out the hand of peaceful partisanship which was slapped down at every turn. We all thought he had to be crazy to keep trying. But Pres. Obama did keep trying to work out peaceful resolutions with these people. Obama did not resort to attacking back. Yeah, he chastised them for their behavior as any good or great leader would do and should do, but he did not allow them to drag him down to their level. That alone not only proves that Obama truly is a good leader (I would say great leader) but it also proves that he did truly deserve that Nobel Peace Prize that the Republicans belittled and outright said he didn't deserve because he hadn't yet earned it. Well, he has more than earned it now!! Truthfully if it had been me I would have slapped them all.

This is a great day in more ways than one. Of course that millions of Americans will now be able to have access to medical care who didn't before is the greatest victory. But it is also a great day for Pres. Obama and those of us who knew all along he was a great leader.
I just want to say also that right after his victory last night I - along with all of those other American citizens that made the phone calls and sent out the letters to their representatives and who donated our time and money and prayers towards helping Obama achieve the passage of this healthcare bill - received an email from the White House with Pres. Obama personally thanking all of us. Another characteristic of a truly great leader.
Republican leader John Boehner stated right after the vote count that "today we failed to listen to the voice of the people." What he was talking about was the Supreme Court 5's and his definition of "the people." Corporations! Because along with the health care companies lobbying in those chambers before the vote were moms and other americans and the representatives will tell you about how their phones were jammed for weeks leading up to this vote and how many emails and letters they got. The MAJORITY of the people were heard. And Boehner knows that. But of course, true to form, he will say the opposite of the truth anyway. How's that working for you, John?

Thanks to you all for allowing me to gloat a little here.

Love, Connie
