Reptilian races aside, this is the real issue in my mind ... something has made us "forget" our spiritual nature and underlying unity, and that's made it easy for various manipulators to keep us more or less controlled through the "divide and conquer" mentality ... by making sure that we always have an "enemy" to make war on, enslave, or discriminate against. When our energy is always tied up in attack and defense (either physical or emotional) we can never get past the feelings of separation that make it so easy to manipulate us into behaving in ways that keep us off-balance and squabbling among ourselves competitively ... thus never regaining the spiritual perspective needed to achieve real peace and recognize how deeply we ARE being used as pawns in a big powe-and-control chess game.

But this phrase points to the same intuition Linda had, that we are at a unique point in human evolution ... a time when we CAN tear down those walls of separation and recall our true spiritual nature, and break free of the domination-oriented mentality that has moved the world for so many millennia!

The other interpretation is that this is more a metaphor for the predatory, wholly self-centered "reptilian brain stem" that is the most archaic level of our brains, and as such represents the dark side of human nature that lives inside each of us ... but finds concrete expression in man's tendency to form covert power alliances to control and dominate our fellow humans ... which has found EXPRESSION through the ages in the history of domination-oriented cultures, repressive kingships and dictatorships, and the various "conspiracies" that have always existed to dominate and enslave others.

I don't know which view is "true" ... although they may both have some value. On the face of it, the reptilian alien idea sounds preposterous, but the researches of Sitchin and others who propound this idea are actually rather logical and persuasive if you study them carefully. There could very well be at least a "seed" of truth in them.

To me, however, the essential thought is that whatever its origin there is a dark side to human nature that lurks within each of us, and this dark side manifests itself as an "us and them" view of the world that is the core of war, hatred, and the striving for domination.

The reason I think this is a most useful insight is that it gives us a way forward to change the world by changing ourselves. It is all very well to identify the conspiracies against freedom that exist -- these conspiracies are very real and a very real threat, and NEED to be understood -- but the very process of doing so is risky, because it can stimulate the "us and them" reality even more strongly. It can stimulate us to look for an "axis of evil" in the world, and be misled into thinking that by destroying such an axis we will have eliminated "the enemy" and peace will prevail. But there is a logical flaw in that reasoning: if we hate hate, hate still prevails! We are still seeing things in "us and them" terms, and we're still building an "us and them" world, regardless of our good intentions. Only when we see humanity as all on the same side (and ALL humans victimized by the same "reptilian" dark thought forms) can we eliminate that "us and them" error and move toward a world based on love and spirit.

Rather than hating hate, we need to learn to love love, as our highest priority. That's really the only way out of the box, IMHO.
