Hi,

Carrie, That was a veryy veryy good poem. I liked the style too.

Hi Tanya, Yes, but now it’s yours.

Hi MS AVC,

I liked that line in Carries poem too. I had written a poem along the same feeling but it was a little sad the other night but I’ll post it for poetry’s sake.
It’s from a conversation I overheard when I was young.

This poem was from a couple I saw in the sandwich shop today.
He was dressed in a suite and tie waiting. She drove up in a car with a smashed finder.
She looked like the bride of Frankenstein and dressed like Kiss.

Hmmm, I think I’m on the wrong thread?
Oh well, the confusion may clear things up.

~~~~When E loves U~~~~
There is a peace under his skin,
The itching stops and the burn sets in,
It a bit fuzzy until she makes it clear, then
He figures it’s only a fling until she proofs she is a friend
But friends sometimes talk about deep subjects,
And then they only get so far until the dirt and sand become a wall of bricks,
Then he thinks, she is a good friend, but not the soul clock of my soul ticks,
Looks, sounds, smiles, stories, dreams of doing this and that, but something just doesn’t fits?
Aspects and nodes, points and culture, numbers and names,
And right over there is almost the same,
And we could make money and have great fame,
But her soul is not someone I know, it’s just a game
So he waits, she waits, he waits some more,
But nothing happens, no one at the door,
Stops pacing the floor and heads for the woods, the mountains and the shore,
For an instant, forgets he is a half, watches nature to get his laugh, regenerates his core
Then out of the blue it’s you,
Oh no, are you normal or a taboo,
Brunet or blonde, rich or poor, do you have 6 toes in your shoe?
God! I hope you don’t snore! Or paint everything Aqua Blue.
And look at you, you’re a mess,
When was the last time you worn a dress,
You’re always scratching from the Zest, why can’t you use Caress,
It’s not like you have to be the best
Will we ever agree two times out of three,
Will you ever stop nagging me,
When was the last time you said please,
And for goodness sakes cover you nose when you sneeze
Did you get that thing I asked you to get on your way home,
And you know it would be nice if I could use the phone,
Do you really want to move to Alaska, Nome?
And what are you eating? It looks like foam?
Oh you. What am I going to do with YOU!
Love her when there no reason,
Love her in the off season,
Love her when she’s on the verge of treason,
Love her when she’s anti-teasing
Love her when it’s freezing rain,
Love her when she is a great big pain,
Love her when she’s gone insane,
Love her for crashing the car in the only lane
I could go on for another eon,
But I think you get it because it’s really a song,
It’s just when spoken it sounds like a bong,
Why can’t we just get along!
YouMe YouMe YouMe
MeYou MeYou MeYou
UMe UMe UMe
MeU MeU MeU
UE UE UE
EU EU EU
E I O U
~~~~She needs to know~~~

Snow fail on my sleeping bag,
Ice frosting on my face,
Taped up the soul of my boot,
And knotted the broken lace

Marched through the mud covered gravel,
Emotions sleeping next to thoughts of where to step next,
Some day I will rest from this travel,
Leaves on wet cold braches flex

Scratch my cheek and wipe my tears,
I reach your door and knock,
To take away your fears,
You come slowly to unlock

The closure of an open wound,
I am here so you can know he is not lying on the ground,
But neither is he coming back here to home,
He is now living over there, heaven bound.

Hi Everyone!!!

Thank you guys for the compliments...

I liked your poems Darwin!!! Man, that first one though... I could see Capricorn written all over that one... They are both really good!!! Actually... The first one kind of... somehow... reminded me of this other poem that I wrote, that I will now share.

Soft Hearts

I noticed how you
Slyly, averted your eyes
Revealing all of
Those disgraceful lies
Lies of pride
of arrogance
of indifference
Then all of a sudden
It became clear as crystal!!!
Even more so than if
You had shot me with a pistol!!!
Your dirty looks
Foul mouthed hooks
Jabs to my lower heart
All in an effort
To conceal what was eating you.
Even I was surprised,
It's true!!!
Was it my soul searching eyes
Thoughts of blue skies
Or philosophical mind probing
That warmed your hard heart
And turned you into your worst fear!!!
A cute little tart...
Ah! No matter! It was all in good fun!
And I'm sorry dear,
But I have to run!!!
Today you learn that soft hearts
Are the hardest to master.
--

*hugs* for all!!!

Hehe, Thanks Soft Heart,

Your right, it wasn’t that good. But no excuses.
The show must go on.

Carrie,
Happen to have a glance at the last two poems you posted. They are really VERY nice.

I wish I could write poetry but I cannot. But here is one that I like a lot. It by William Shakespear.

.............
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
..................

And here is another one. I forget who wrote it.

Aah Loneliness,
How would I know myself if it were not for you..
.....................

cheers

"And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair."

Kahlil Gibran

"There once was a king who offered a prize to the artist who would paint the best picture of peace. Many artists tried. The king looked at all the pictures. But there were only two he really liked, and he had to choose between them.

One picture was of a calm lake. The lake was a perfect mirror for peaceful towering mountains all around it. Overhead was a blue sky with fluffy white clouds. All who saw this picture thought that it was a perfect picture of peace.

The other picture had mountains, too. But these were rugged and bare. Above was an angry sky, from which rain fell and in which lightning played. Down the side of the mountain tumbled a foaming waterfall. This did not look peaceful at all.

But when the king looked closely, he saw behind the waterfall a tiny bush growing in a crack in the rock. In the bush a mother bird had built her nest. There, in the midst of the rush of angry water, sat the mother bird on her nest-in perfect peace.

Which picture do you think won the prize? The king chose the second picture. Do you know why?

"Because," explained the king, "peace does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. Peace means to be in the midst of all those things and still be calm in your heart. That is the real meaning of peace."

Give Us Hearts to Understand

Give us hearts to understand

Never to take from creation’s beauty more than we give;

Never to destroy wantonly for the furtherance of greed,

Never to deny to give our hands for the building of earth’s beauty,

Never to take from her what we cannot use.

Give us hearts to understand

That to destroy earth’s music is to create confusion;

that to wreck her appearance is to blind us to beauty;

That to callously pollute her fragrance is to make a house

of stench; that as we care for her she will care for us.

We have forgotten who we are.

We have sought only our own security.

We have exploited simply for our own ends.

We have distorted our knowledge.

We have abused our power.

Great Spirit, whose dry lands thirst,

Help us to find the way to refresh your lands.

Great Spirit, whose waters are choked with debris

and pollution, help us to find the way to cleanse your waters.

Great Spirit, whose beautiful Earth grows ugly with misuse,

help us to find the way to restore beauty to your handiwork.

Great Spirit, whose creatures are being destroyed,

help us to find a way to replenish them.

Great Spirit, whose gifts to us are being lost in selfishness

and corruption, help us to find the way to restore our humanity.

O Great Creator,
I come before you in a humble manner
and offer you this sacred pipe.
With tears in my eyes and an ancient song from my heart
I pray.
To the four powers of Creation,
To the Grandfather Sun,
To the Grandmother Moon,
To the Mother Earth,
And to my ancestors.

I pray for all my relations in Nature,
All those who walk, crawl, fly and swim,
Seen and unseen,
To the good spirits that exist in every part of Creation.

I ask that you bless our elders and children,
families and friends,
And the brothers and sisters who are in prison.
I pray for the ones who are sick on drugs and alcohol
And for those who are now homeless and forlorn.
I also pray for peace among the four races of humankind.

May there be good health and healing on this earth,
May there be Beauty above me,
May there be Beauty below me,
May there be Beauty in me,
May there be Beauty all around me.
I ask that this world be filled with Peace, Love and Beauty.

Cree Prophecy

Gift From the Creator

The man whispered, "Creator, speak to me."

And a meadowlark sang.

But the man did not hear.

So the man yelled, "Creator, speak to me!"

And thunder rolled across the sky.

But the man did not listen.

Then the man looked around and said, "Creator, let me see You!"

And a star shone brightly.

But the man did not notice.

And the man shouted, "Creator, show me a miracle!"

And a life was born.

But the man did not know.

So the man cried out in despair...

"Touch me Creator, Let me know You are here!"

Whereupon the Creator reached down and touched the man.

But the man brushed the butterfly away and walked on.

A wise woman who was traveling in the mountains found a precious stone in a stream. The next day she met another traveler who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her bag to share her food. The hungry traveler saw the precious stone and asked the woman to give it to him. She did so without hesitation. The traveler left, rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime. But a few days later he came back to return the stone to the wise woman.

"I've been thinking," he said, "I know how valuable the stone is, but I give it back in the hope that you can give me something even more precious. Give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me the stone."

Hello, Everyone,

Greg - Your wise and loving, calming, reasonable, words are always very much appreciated - so glad you've put so much of that out lately. And yes, I too think that what people have shared here is beautiful.

Carrie - Thanks! Wonderful poetry - can't wait to see more!? Hey! Willy Wonka and, Augustus Gloop, Veruka Salt ("But I want it NOW, Daddy!"), Violet (?), Mike (TV?), and of course, Cheer up Charlie and his Grandpa... I don't remember all the names offhand, do you?? I used to watch that movie as a kid... seems like it was on TV every year - also, the Wizard of Oz, and other classics I looked forward to... Some parts of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory are kinda weird though, like the part where they're going through the tunnel, and Willy goes cuckoo for a few minutes there!! hahaha

Darwin - heheheheheeeeehaa - Come out, come out, where-ever-you-are!!! And give us some more!!!

Hello Gumnaam! - I see you're fairly new at LG - Welcome! Shakespeare is one of my favorites.

Ariel - Hi.. Your welcome! I agree that words of love - compassion, understanding, etc. - are very important right now. It certainly is wonderful that we can share them here. I was moved deeply by some too. Part of my idea (in my last post) was to bring the inspirations, and words of love, etc., of many different people, "religions", cultures, eras, together.... They seem to blend together at this time in a special way... and some of the ideas/words may resonate with some people, and perhaps other words with other people... Anyhow, it was a good experience I had reading, and wanted to share it. BTW, I saw the picture of your youngest daughter on the Smiles page - Lovely!

Mavis - Great to see you!! I remember talking with you on a post (Twelfth House thread?), awhile back. We don't see enough of you here... hope to see you more!

Lisa!!! Your words are always a treat for me. I hope everything's going well with work! And please post more of your poetry when you can.

Love to all,
MS AVC

Hi MS AVC!!!

He he... I think you got most of the names of the kids out of Willie Wonka... And they still show it on network television almost every year... lol. In fact, I think it came on earlier this year... But we actually have the video, because my brother loved it when we were kids. I also love the part where Willie goes crazy for a few seconds... It's actually kind of funny... It shows his creative genus... lol!!!

Hmmmm.... So you want another one of my poems do you? Alright... I got a couple more up my sleeve...

Here's a serious one that I wrote during the summer...

The Red, White, and Blue

An emptiness fills my soul today
A hunger for a world
Far and away
A world where dreams can be born
Without shame
Or threat of scorn.
Yet here in this world I am forced to stand
Tired and hungry
In a war torn land.
Just look at all this degradation and pain
In the eyes of the moral
And the souls of the slain.
They call this the land of the free
Where our heads rule our hearts
And individuality ceases to be
Everyday more and more
We fight against eachother
As we forget an ancient lore.
Sure I could tell you about the world today
But just look around you
And you'll know there's no reason to stay.
--

And here's a more fun poem of mine!!! This one is untitled...

Mysteries and secrets abound
In this little thing called life
That we've mistakenly found.
Perhaps life is just one big joke
That high school kids
Can sit around and toke.
Or maybe life is one giant orange peel
And we're just ants
That sit around and talk about how we feel.
Then again, life could be a cat
That lays around the house
Worrying about his fat.
Or maybe, just maybe, life is like a dove
Full of graceful beauty
And consumed with great jubilant love!!!
--

That one was kind of dumb... But oh well!!! So am I...

*hugs* for all!!!
Carrie

Thank you for those beautiful words, MS A.
I'm always big on writing down good quotes that I hear in my journal, so you've really given me some writing to do!
Hard to believe that Big Thunder wrote that in the 19th century! And here and now we look back on that time as so clean and unpolluted

Very nice poems, Carrie. I love Willie Wonka too--what a classic! I have it on tape and my kids, ages 3 and 4 love it now too and ask to watch it all the time...their eyes get all big and wide at the boat-ride part! , hee hee
And they call Veruca Salt the "mean girl". Have you heard of the girl rock band "Veruca Salt"? Love em!!

Well, here are some poems. They aren't really about love, but here goes anyway

Clear, sable-blue skies
gleaming the clarity
of night.
Living stars
entwining into patterns,
weaving galaxies
into reality's might.
Dense clouds
brooding
heavy on the horizon,
a symbol of
man's enclosed Earth...

While the
immense universe above,
omniscient in
the power
it is betrothed,
waits in silence
for the dawning
of its worth.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My sight is strengthened
more each day,
as I slowly ascend
the dark, damp stairway
that I descended over time
and became.
How desparate we can become
when we dwell
in the aloneness
of our darkened soul,
that drags us down deeper
into its lost depths
with each blinded day.
Yet, how
simple it can be--
with our hearts open wide.
The only truth
we'll ever need
shall flow
from deep inside.
Love, Lisa
