Linda was big on karma and that for every action there is a reaction. Given her strong beliefs on this subject, were did she stand on the subject of past lives? Did she ever partake in a past life regression? (Since I haven't read "Gooberz" but will the first chance I get)Did she believe that any of the important people in her life were ones she spent past lives with?
This is a topic that I have been extremely interested in recently and would like to learn more about Linda's thoughts and views on it if she shared them with any of you.

Hello kstar and shagun! I, too, am intensely interested in past lives. I have a dear friend who is gifted in intuitively suggesting what past lives certain people have lived so he's shared some with me.
As for personal experience, me KNOWING...I do know one.
I actually met a friend over e-mail and we started talking and found we had much in common and were very interested in each other. We began to talk about spirituality and the subject of past lives came up. I began to tell him my one specific memory that I have - having to do with Ireland - and, can you believe this, HE FINISHED my memory. He interrupted (politely of course, albeit shocked, hims-elf...) and continued on with my memory, describing every detail, down to the color of my hair and dress I was wearing. He said everything that I already knew, word-for-word. It was quite fantastic. That was two years ago this month, actually, and since then we have met and he has become the most influential and profound person in my life thus far, right beside my mother and Anne (see "angel encounters anyone?"). He has become a teacher for me, of monumental sorts, and he lives in Colorado!! Actually, it was with him that I visited Cripple Creek and Linda's home last summer.
Anyway, I'm off the topic. But he and I DEFINITELY know we have had a past relationship. It is one of the most exciting things that has ever happened to me. I am blessed to have him in my life.

I often feel-know that I have had past lives with many of my closer friends. My mother, who is incredibly knowing-glowing and silvery-wise in her own right, made a good point. Isn't there a life when we have to meet a person for the very first time and BEGIN the karma with them? We seem to think that everything already happened previous to this life, but perhaps we do meet some for the first time in this life. Is this possible? Does this make sense? I, of course, love to try to unravel the threaded mysteries and puzzles that come with trying to figure out how you knew those you love in a past life, but my mother, being very sensical and grounded (unlike me at times)got me thinking.

Any feedback would be welcome and appreciated.

Hi Shagun,
I don't have any past lives experiences to date but I do quite frequently experience "dejavu" with my husband. I am convinced though that I did live a past life in Italy. I went to Florence and Venice back in the early 90's and when I arrived in Florence, a wonderful feeling came over me. I felt drawn to this old world place. At the time, I didn't think anything of it. But it just seemed like I had come home in a way. I didn't remember a life there or anything else that might place me there in a previous life, just that feeling inside that I can't really explain. Other than that, I haven't yet experienced anything. An interesting note - I never seem to be able to remember my dreams. The instant that I am awakened, I lose all memory of what my dreams were about. I don't know if this is because my higher S elf does not feel that I am ready to tread down that path?
So many questions, so little answers!
Note: I have seriously considered past life regression but have not done so to this date.
Shagun, I would love to hear about your experiences.
Peace,
kstar

Great story, LMB! That must have been a very profound experience.

As for having to meet someone for the first time to begin a karmic relationship, it does make one wonder. I tend to believe that our deeper relationships with people probably extend back before the beginning of time--before we became fallen and were caught in the karmic wheel, so to speak. So perhaps that first-time meeting between people was way back when. I'll bet your mom and Anne and your special male friend are all people you hung out with in heaven! I know you've been through some tough times, LMB, but I sense that you have a lot of karmic reward coming to you in this lifetime.

Just my musings . . .

KJS

Hiii LMB

That was a VERY interesting incident u related!!boy!for a moment i gorgot everything while i read.

My god!isnt it fantastic and look how u met him!!gosh!i wonder how its like to actually meet someone like that?how did u feel lmb?was there recognition?could he be a peice of ur soul?i mean i get in this twin soul/self thing everywhere...but im sure u must be having that connection!

Hmmm what ur mom suggested is really interesting.but the answer is right there in 'love signs',if u read it carefully.because it was while discussing 5-9 or 4-10 patterns of past karma that linda mentioned that in these patterns there could never be a 'first incarnational encounter'.i dont know if these were the exact words but something like that.so that means 'first times'do occur!logically too..i think its possible...ysee if a an angel has fallen and has realised his need to return very recently, then he wouldnt be knowing so many down here cos he hasnt incarnated so many times.well, just a thought.but be sure to check out lindas love signs.
loved that experiance!beautiful!
shagun.

Hi LMB,
Your post gave me goosebumps!!! What a wonderful experience and a great blessing. I myself believe that people with whom we have past lives with will show up through many lifetimes, sometimes as our teacher. This experience reminds me of Shirley Maclaine and her book "Out on a Limb" in which her friend David, whom she had been married to in a past life, became a guru of sorts to her in this life.
I do think that you have a point about beginning karma in this life. I believe that we create karma for ourselves every waking moment if you look at it that karma is for every action there is a reaction. Since I do not know that much about the subject, maybe we can get some more thoughts on this one?

Peace,
kstar

Kstar,

I wonder if this forgetting dreams is a Capricorn thing, for I am the same way--most of the time. Kathleen says some really interesting things about dreams in the thread "quote of the day and nightmares." What she explains sounds valid to me. Maybe we don't remember our dreams because we have an easier time processing these images on a subconscious level. Fascinating to consider, isn't it?

Hi KJS,
That is something to ponder! I have been pretty disturbed at times and frustrated as my husband will relate his dreams to me all the time. I will on occasion remember a small piece of a dream but usually I get nothing!! I am glad I am not the only one out there experiencing this problem. I will have to read Kathleen's post.
An interesting note- I have asked my higher S elf for help in difficult times in my life by answering in my dreams. This is something to ponder - apparently my higher S elf does not believe I am ready for the answers?
Any input is welcomed.
Peace,
Kstar

Hiiiii Kstar!!

i just realised u were in the thread!wow!i am going to mail u very soon!yipee!
hmm kstar were really getting ur thread going arent we?i looove this topic!thanks!
ok..a lil about karma.well, yes every moment we are creating karma...but it is obviously either good or bad.if its good then beautiful,if bad then there is one consolation. If after commiting the sin..you atone for it,accept u have done it and then forgive urself it dosent come back as such a big blow of a reaction.the main thing is u should forgive urself and be at peace.its called 'grace'or 'mercy'i think.
also i feel u shouldnt be so aware that ure creating karma!!my god!u wouldnt be able to rest then!i think u should just remember to follow the heart.if it tells u to do something good ull do it anyway and reap benefits but if it told u to do bad then it means that block is still left within and no amount of force can make it go.so let it go,get angry, bang the lamp on the floor but face the truth of urself and only then will u be set free.

god!theres so much to karma kstar!this is so small a part of it.i wish more people contribute.
nice meeting u!!
love
shagun

Shagun,
It's wonderful to have your input. I agree with you - we should not live our lives with karma on the brain 24/7. And I think that Linda mentioned in her book Star Signs that we could erase bad karma if we catch it right afterwards with saying "cancel". I've got to run now but I will be back later with more thoughts!

Peace,
kstar

Kstar,

Maybe your answers come in a way you don't comprehend. I believe things that happen to us on the subconscious level can affect us with no conscious understanding of it on our part. For example, you could ask for answers about how to deal with a certain situation. Chances are you won't experience an epiphany or a light bulb turning on in your head. But soon you'll notice your attitude about the situation beginning to change for no obvious reason to you, or you'll suddenly encounter a helpful book, etc. That's our subconscious working, and we may not always realize it on the conscious level. But certainly, there are probably some answers we just aren't ready for.

Best,
KJS

A few different answers to a few different people --

Kstar -
Your reminding us of how Linda says to say "cancel" in "Linda Goodman's Star Signs" brought back a funny, powerful memory. May I share? -
In high school, after "Gooberz", I read "Linda Goodman's Star Signs". During the reading of the latter, I could NOT put it down...I read it during my classes, at lunch, before and after school. I was younger then, too, and so enraptured by Linda Goodman that I gathered all her teachings up like daffodils (without yet really understanding all of them) and ran around the halls of my school (mainly the drama department where I could mostly be found) spouting, "OH GO SMELL A ROSE!" and saying "Cancel!" after each and every negative thing that I or anyone else said. The margins of my school books were covered with lexigrams and numerology and quotes I had copied down from "Gooberz". I got some pretty strange looks and people kept saying, "what has posessed Lisa??". I found it so envigorating. I recall it as a very swift, swirly time for me. I don't know, your saying "cancel" just reminded me of that and brought a smile to my face.

KJS-
Could you remind me of the karmic wheel? And thank you for your musings. What you said warmed my spirit. *^*^*^*^

Shagun-
Bless your heart! I feel such energy from your postings all the time. Your honesty and direct manner of speaking is so beautiful, I hope you know what an asset (spelling?) you are here.
Anyway, yes, my relationship with this man gives me goose bumps too! I certainly feel that he is someone "big" in my life. Sometimes I am apt even to go so far as to say a "gooober"...but can people have more than one "gooober" in one lifetime? (a question to anyone). Because...as wonderful and cosmic as our relationship is...there is a situation that is tied around it like a bright red ribbon...which at the same time imprisons it from never happening. What I mean is that a permanent, love relationship on a partner-level can never manifest with him because of the situation that surrounds it. I wouldn't change it because that would change US...and I do love US...(*"the secret of how to make an US out of a lonely YOU and ME"*)...but it does hurt knowing that he is not really THE ONE. He might be a STRONG STRONG twin soul...but I don't see how he can be my twin s-elf.
What Linda Goodman wrote in "Gooberz" about her last love (presumably Robert Brewer, but I don't mean to make any speculations) being a sort of reincarnate of her first deep love (possibly Bill Snyder...) really hit home...because I relate it to this man I care so deeply about.

EVERYTHING about him just harmonizes with me. He has saved my life numerous times (literally and figuratively), he teaches me, I teach him...it is such an "equinox", if you will...a balance of wonderful energy. Yet...it can not be. This is obviously not supposed to be...I am meant to find someone else....but this man surely can not be forgotten, nor will he ever be.

Well, my friend, I fear I am rambling now so I will close this up.
And thank you - when I go home next week, I will definitely look up those passages in "Love Signs"!!!

On a side note - has anyone ever noticed how prevelant "SINGS" is in the word "SIGNS"? I'm sure you have, but I just wanted to point it out once more. I like that.

A bushel of bunny hugs,

LMB

Kathleen,
Thank you for the book recommendation, I will surely look into that as soon as I possibly can! You said it - so many books, so little time. Both writing AND reading!
And when you said "mourn for misty mountains far away", I felt an ache in my heart. I hear ya, sister!

Your story about the Atlantean past life regression was absolutely FASCINATING, not unlike everything you tell us! I've often thought about past life regression...but I have a problem. I tend to try too hard. You see, I'm a control freak and even meditating is very hard. Only twice in my life have I really felt that I've achieved some sort of altered, or truly relaxed state. I seem to want things so badly that I try too hard. During meditation, for example, I will be sitting there, trying to breathe right, trying to clear my mind right, trying to relax right...but you see, I am TRY-TRY-TRYING too hard!!! So with regression and any sort of hynosis, I am so afraid that I would be too tense and try to "script" it out too much...being a writer and an intense dreamer, I tend to "script" out many things. Even relationships! Which has gotten me into plenty of trouble.
ANYWAY (...LMB famously off-track again...), do you have any suggestions on how to relax and not try so hard? I think it stems from my intense need to feel "special". I also think that any specific details i'd be able to come up with would not come out of a past life memory, but from some sort of script. This frustrates me to a great degree. In fact, when this man I talked about was finishing my past life memories, I didn't believe it. In fact, he had to convince me of MANY miracles that manifested between us. I was quite skeptical about many things because I just didn't believe in mys-elf, sadly enough. I thought it was all a script I had manipulated. (shame on me!) But oh yes...he opened my eyes to such wonderful things and gave me the ability to believe in mys-elf once more.

Anyhoo, talk to you all later,

LMB

Hi everyone!
I am so loving this thread!! One of my favorite fascinations.
LMB - what a silly story about "cancel"!!
I have a question that has puzzled me quite a bit. I have often wondered why some people live well into their 80's and 90's and there are others that do not make it past their teens and early adulthood? I am sure that it has to do with the lessons learned in that incarnation, but are those that live such a long life slow learners? Do those whose lives are cut short, quick learners? So many questions!!!
I would love any input.

Peace,
kstar

Hiii All!!
So hows it going?has anyone received any memory flashes yet?well, were all waiting to hear about it!!

Yknow LMB and Kathleen u brought a huge smile to my face bcos u mentioned Ireland in both ur postings!!Oh my!Its true that if ure attracted to a certain place or culture u had a past life there!!i have always been attracted to Ireland, its moors, the castles, the weather, way of dressing. It was this rainy ireland kind of a weather here where i live one day.and i was listening to this song that had been newly released.it had the violin, mouth organ kind of chords and suddenly i started to cry...because i remembered!!!i remembered the chords, the very same music and i knew i had heard it in Ireland somewhere.just a minute after the shock of this revelation...i saw a clear flash of memory go by in my mind.it was so quick!!and i saw myself...with another(it was my other half...i seemed to know this)whom i couldnt see.I was different in the sense,i had golden hair and an irish blue dress on whereas now i have brown hair.but...the face was the same.He was helping me get down some rocks and the day was sunny as the sun shined behind me.there was so much ...love...in the picture!!!and it made me cry harder bcos i have never felt such pure, strong love in this life ver.and to this day...the song sends shivers up my spine.brrrr.....

I guess that means a world of pure true love exists and we have loved this way, there is someone who will love us like that someday.

Best of luck, lot of strenght and hope to all my friends till that day arrives...for all of us....
love
shagun.

Shagun, as Kathleen said, you made me cry. I understand those yearnings and aches for a far away home from a distant life and time. I have had many moments and memories such as those because of music. For me, at least, as I'm sure for many others, music affects me SO much. I say, "I am at the mercy of melody". Irish music, in particular. For instance, "ironically", right now, at this very moment, I am listening to my favorite Irish music singer - Loreena McKennitt - who started all my past life memories to begin with (but that's a different story). I am listening to music that takes me back to that faraway, glistening green place with the cottony-mist covering the mountaintops...*sigh*...it's amazing what strings memories such as those can pull.

I wish you days of walking along the Cliffs of Moher and holding your "gooober"'s hand...
It will happen, my friend. Expect a Miracle, remember?

LMB

KATHLEEN!!!!

THE OLD WAYS IS MY SONG!!! OH my god, I am just floored right now....remember when I wrote that it was a long story how Loreena was my "past life" musician? Well...it is because of THAT song!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *((my hands are shaking so much right now!!!**)))

When I heard that song, my past life came back to me...and that is the song that I was listening to when the man I love (whom I've talked about before) finished the past life. We've even listened to that song together....and oh it was so intense. In our past life, you see, he had to go off and fight in the battle of Camlin (sp?)...and at that song...he is leaving....oh there's so much more....but wow....okay...i'll breathe now.

much much love to you,

LMB

Kathleen,
Yes, lots of Camelot feelings. That CD was originally given to me in 1994 by my mother BECAUSE it had "The Lady of Shalott" on it. Merely for that song. Little did she know how monumental all of Loreena McK's music would affect me.
Last May for my birthday, I saw her in concert, too! She played "The Old Ways" last as well and I cried through it, too!

I would be INCREDIBLY interested in knowing the mathematical/music of the song.

Shagun,
Oh, sounds like Ireland to me. Or someplace quite like it. Perhaps what you remember is not from this world as we see it right now. Perhaps it is. I wish you luck in finding it, even if it is within.

Oh, Kathleen, what an enchanted being you are. You've spoken of so many beautiful experiences in these threads of wisdom! I'm so delighted to have become a part of this.

I have always, always been fascinated with faires. In my imagination i have created such glorious places where I think they might dwell. I'm very interested to hear more of your experience visiting the land of faeries, and your theories about their existence. What did it look like? What did you feel?

Also, since this thread is about past lives. I wanted to bring up something that a past life reader told me. I spoke a little about her interpretations of my past lives in the Relationship signs thread. She sees people's souls as a room, filled with volumes of books. She remarked when she saw that I had not only a huge room filled with books, but also some very old scrolls, meaning that I had a very old soul. She then told me not to be prideful about that, because that just meant that my soul was a slow learner. I laughed. But, I'm interested to know if other people have heard that theorie. What has Linda said about old souls? I know these are pretty generalized questions, but bear with the student, and enlighten me to some your ideas about reincarnation.

Love,
Isis

hii Kathleen!!

And....thank you,thank you,thank you!!!That which u posted earlier was a 'revelation'to me!!!
I could never ever have thought that faerie worlds actually existed!u just made me trust my higher self more!!Oh definately it must have been one of those places. But one little question kathleen. The weather,in these lands,in my memory is very beautiful. It isnt cold or misty...or even sunny...more like slighly rainy in the summers with lots of cool breeze.did these worlds have climates different from the places they resided in...or the same?i did hear that atlantis had a near perfect weather..in the sense no extremes of climate.do you think these lands too, were the same way?

Oh Kathleen this seems like a dream come true!!i wish everyone of us could remember those lands...theyre so...dreamy...exhilarates my neptunian soul.hmmm.do you think WE could have had incarnations as fairies?!!!!

Wow!u just opened a beautiful world for me to dream in !!I think im going to surf the net for my 'sidhes'!!yoohoo!

here i goooo!

Can anyone here recommend any good books on past life regression? Or better yet, does anyone know of a source to find someone experienced in doing past life regressions (I'd like to find someone local, of course!) I am sure that I lived a previous life in India, and I need help
jogging my "memory" ....

Love, Quazar

Hi Quazar,

I would recommend the book, Many Lives, Many Masters by Dr. Brian Weiss. This is a fabulous book to start with.

Kathleen or Kate:

I've noticed that many past-life memories of people who i have either known or heard of , not to mention eveyone here on this discussion group seem to zero-in on specific areas, esp. Ireland, India, Egypt and the former Aztec/Incan/Mayan empire area.
I know these areas were and are spiritual centers at one point in time, and in some cases continue to be. I've also noticed that persons from these areas seem to incarnate in specific areas or have an inexplicable attraction to a certain area (Atlanteans to Ireland, Lemurians to India) . Any ideas here?

This is my question, is it possible for the *energy* of some of these places to "move", following the first and second law of thermodynamics, energy cannot be created nor destroyed but it may be transformed.

I know a woman here in Montreal, a Holocaust survivor, who upon the death of her youngest daugther from an incurable form of cancer delved into esoteric spirituality to find some answers. Since then she's done readings for people like Spielberg and has toured the world on spiritual quests and investigations. She went to Tibet last year and remarked that the energy isn't there anymore, and in every epoch and every era, the energy manifests itself in one area or another so long as that area has not lost it's innocence. Once a country or area loses it's innocence, either through war or uncalled for blood-letting, the energy moves on.

What are your feelings on this?

Love,
Aurora

Kathleen,

As you well know my darling Mother is Irish (I come from a long strong line of Irish) and she has told me many faery stories about her childhood... how she was brought up to believe in the unbelievable and to see the invisible. She once told me a story about a time when she was a small girl, she was awoken from her sleep with the strange shound on\f wailing from outide, it was a melodic, sad, sad sound coming from outside her bedroom window late in the evening. She crept out of her bed and onto the window seat and looked way down into the garden below. There was a full moon in the sky and it was shinning like a bright lantern, lightening up the garden below. She could see this tiny, tiny elf size lady with long straight hair (she thinks it was light colored but wasn't sure whether it was the effect of the illumination from the moon or not)combing it and wailing. She ran into her Mother's bedroom and asked her to come and look, after explaining what she had seen... her Mother did not get out of bed but told her not to be frightened, that the man next door was very ill and he would be dead by morning. Now was the time for the banshee to wail to help him with his passing and what she had seen was a banshee. She also said that the dogs would begin to howl soon and sure enough they did. When my Mother was leaving for school the following morning... sure enough, the gentleman next door had died and my Grandmother was going in to the house next door to assist with the wake.

On a more jovial note...

There was a time when my Mother was flying from America to London, during the flight one of the passengers had a heart attack. The pilot decided it was best to land at Shannon airport not wishing to risk any more time. After they landed at Shannon and the medics took the passenger off the aircraft on a stretcher, they prepared for take off. However, there was some commotion and the passengers where asking the stewardesses what was happening. To which they answered, "ah sure, they are some birds on the runway and the Irish don't wish to scare them and will not let us take off until they shooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo them away" all the passengers where looking out of the window, enjoying the scene of a dozen Irish men, not wishing to see any harm come to the birds and endeavouring to get them off the runway. I just love this story.

Happy St.Patricks Day to you all!

Wow Kathleen and Kate!
I know Ireland is definitely one of the few places left on earth where that energy still exists as your stories proove. What i've noticed is that *energy* often (but not always) manifests itself as ley lines. Ireland is still a hub for ley lines energy, earth energy lines and meridians (In China they call them Dragon Lines, similar to the energy meridians that criss-cross the body in accupunture called the "chi") Are a lot of the monoliths in Ireland markers of these ley lines?

As for the energy moving on, Anne, the woman I spoke about, says that the energy was in the States but left in the 60's, and is basically in limbo right now. The energy doesn't just indescriminantly hop from one place to another, it's attracted or drawn to those places which are still innocent, and the old ways are not lost or where the land hasn't been corrupted, places which are still taking baby steps, hesitant and unsure. Anne mentioned that energy will either be going to Canada, Australia, New Zealand or Russia, the last frontiers on Earth basically. Linda mentioned in Star Signs in the chapter on North-South polarity that Canada may very well be the country of the future and that Russia (also according to the Cayce readings) is destined to be the most spiritual country on Earth.
That's just my take on the issue. I'd love to hear everyone's opinion on this.

Happy St. Patrick's to all!

Aurora

As a longtime student of T'ai Chi and Chinese medicine/metaphysics, the analogy between ley lines and acuncture meridians (and between the sacred sites on those ley lines and the acupuncture points on the meridians) makes a lot of sense to me. This is one way of looking at the entire earth as a single living being.

To me, the important thing about this realization is that the changing ebb and flow of energy along these ley lines and sacred sites is a reflection of the life-force of the earth as a whole, rather than isolated local phenomena. If the energy in one acupuncture point becomes blocked or stagnant, it affects the health of the whole body. In this sense, the shift of energy centers around the planet can be seen as a major restructuring of the "global consciousness." In the end, what is really important is not so much understanding which regions of the earth are more spiritual than others, but rather opening up the energy flow to raise the spiritual level of the entire planet.

Kate and Kathleen and everyone else,
Thank you for sharing your stories of Ireland. It is like candy to me. Such a treat. It really does nourish me...since I long so much to go there. Listening to your real life magic does so much. Thank you.

Blessings,

WOw, i didn't know everyone else had so many profound experiences with past-lives. it seems like all of you positively knew for sure that you were experiencing a past life flash back. my past life experiences aren't so clear cut in that i'm not even sure they are past life experiences, although i always like to believe they were. all these experiences of being someone else always occurs in my dreams. sometime i dream of a totally different life of somenone else, but i get this vague feeling that i am myself. and i go through a good portion of the life. it's like a story that i'm living through. it's really cool, but i don't know if it's really my past life, or my active imagination. but then, i think dreams are suppose to be crazy and weird, whereas these dreams follow make sense if i told the story to someone. did any of you experience the dream past life experience?
i once dreamt that i was a witch that was going to get executed at sunrise, and i was standing next to my daughter. the environment was weird, because i have never encountered such an environment, i don't even think there is such a place on earth. huge white blocks that looked like chalk or something was surrounding me,and the place looked deserted like there was no civilization. if we all are living all are past, future lives at this one moment, since there is no time, could it possibly be that i was experiencing a life-time that was in the future, because of the weird environment. is this place familiar to any of you guys?

Hiii Skylah!!

Yes!!!I have had a few past lives in my dreams!!!In fact thats one of the clearest ways to experiance a past life recall!
My flashback in the dream came in like a reel of a film!!It was so clear and i could feel each emotion!!and the people were dressed as though..mm..was it the followers of robin hood?yes. It was the sherwood forest and the people had bows and arrows and brownish clothes!!I was rescuing a child and i managed it somehow and was applauded.that was it.

I went thru a past life regression once and the experiance was not as profound as this one,but nevertheless it was productive.

Kate and Kathleen, those were INCREDIBLE experiances!!!amazing! They are so very beautiful!!thanks a million for them,im just beggining to have some more faerie land flashes!!!be back with them soon!
love
shagun.

Hiii friends!!!

I just wanted to write down a poem i had written, espcially regarding reincarnation.I thought it would be so appropriate to put down in this thread.

titled:shades

Guess who iam now,
dont you remotely remember?
Feel a sense of deja v,
We had met back later?
***
The only difference now,
let me explain it better.
You are wearing dark glasses,
i let mine shatter....

love
shagun.
