I'm so glad you liked the idea of this thread enough to restart it.

One of my very favorite passages in any of Linda's books was her poem "How to Love a Colored Man" in Gooberz. It was brilliant, poignant, and hilarious.

Linda took a remarkable step, in my opinion, in Star Signs in revealing her comtemplation of suicide. A famous and best-selling author, she could have simply been content with her celebrated image. But, she chose to reveal a very personal moment -- and her true vulnerability -- in the hope that her experience might help others.

Linda provided constant inspiration for me through Star Signs, my favorite of her books. Her "Labor of Love" chapter is powerful and compelling and falls in line with my beliefs: Do, and only do, what you love for a living. Her counseling in that chapter runs counter to what most young people are told by parents, teachers, and other adults. We're always told to choose our professions by money or position. Happiness rarely comes up. Right now, I'm in the process of changing my circumstances to that I'll be truly happy, something I haven't been in a long time.

Remember Linda's lesson on ordaining lost items and parking spots (mine don't usually manifest; gotta work on my faith). I've applied this particular principle to a number of other situations in my life. When it was important, my Higher Self came through every time.

Linda's closing lines in Star Signs, the message flashing across her television -- "We bring you the world as it is; Imagine what it could be -- really describes one of Linda's greatest qualities: her optimism.

Yes, Linda is Linda -- poet, vulnerable human being, counselor, motivator, optimist . . . Thanks, Linda, for being who you are.

Thank you Thomas -- both for starting this thread originally, and for coming back to enliven its resurrection. Your observation fits my sentiments exactly -- it was Linda's optimism, her faith, her loving vision for life and the future of humanity, that characterize what so many of us value in her, and is what will endure of her legacy. Certainly she was a human being, with as many "flaws" and foibles as the rest of us -- but her magnificent achievement was to focus on her own wisdom and magic and love (and to make US believe in our OWN wisdom and magic and love), despite many heartaches and disappointments in her own life. Her wish was that her own experiences and understandings, expressed with such poetic beauty and emotional power in her writings, would inspire us to transcend the conflict, ego-struggles, and unloving focus that we see so much around us in this world of manifestation, and to create the new world we long for in our deepest dreams ... a world of peace and love and light ... not the world "as it is" but as it could be. As it should be. As it is in our own experience when we so ordain it.

Dreams are the Mother of reality, and Linda, even above all her astrological knowledge and metaphysical understanding and brilliant commucative skill, was our Beautiful Dreamer -- and for that we love her dearly, and benefit endlessly from her continuing legacy.

On the original thread, someone posted some negative remarks, saying that none of us could really KNOW Linda (which was so negative that Gregory deleted it), but before he did I answered that I did know Linda...he said we should get in touch with reality, to which I replied that maybe HE/SHE should be the one to get in touch with reality

Anyway, I think my post went something like this:

I do KNOW Linda! How could I not? I've known her since 1975....and even though it was a one way correspondence, she became my friend, baring her heart and soul in so many ways...
and her revelations were so imapactful, so life changing...that she can't possibly be gone......that she still LIVES.....her words are still there for me every day...advising me, amusing me, entertaining me, and enlightening me.....yes, even though they say she is gone, I KNOW SHE LIVES....
in the eternal now......

Linda, trail blazer that you are, you opened many new and wonderful doors for me.....

And something in Thomas' post (above) got me thinking how, for me, Linda was part of a generation of artists trying sincerely and passionately to increase the power of love in the world. I don't so much associate her with other book writers but with song writers like Neil Young (Do it in the name of love, Love and only love), John Lennon (All you need is love, Imagine, Mind games) and Cat Stevens (Oh, very young, what will you leave us this time? You're only dancing on this earth for a short while...) Ah, you know.

I think Gregory asked me back on the old incarnation of this thread to say something about my writing. But I was away from home on a borrowed computer. Now I'm back. And I guess the truest thing I can say about my writing is that I'm trying to join the noble bunch I've mentioned above! What they have given I love deeply, and I want to give from that level of soul, to provide the same type of nourishment. I am writing a story of transformation (all good stories are about transformation, aren't they?), and as I write I remind myself that to write well I must love the reader. Kind of the way you run this website, Gregory. With love for the members.

I tried to go back and "clear the fields" but couldn't....oh dear....

When I wrote this big long thing about Linda, it seemed to make sense (to ME), cuz it was my life.....but I went out to dinner, and came back and looked at it, and felt awful, cuz I think it is awful...and not only is it awful....but there is SO MUCH of awful.....
