Yes, it is a nice collection. Much more convenient than running a search. Speaking of which, there is something weird going on, Greg. I've tried running quite a few searches recently, but in case of older threads, there were no results. I'm wondering if I did something wrong or there is a problem.

I'm not getting this, why is it every link I click takes me to CE main index?

Unfortunately, Darwin put together this helpful list of links before we switched over to the current version of the forum software ... and as a result they are now all wrong! The topics are still there, but they are not at the same links they used to be.

Fixing this is something I've been meaning to do, because it is really a useful resource ... but unfortunately it is a very time-consuming task, and spare time has been a very scarce commodity for me recently. What has to be done is to re-locate each of these topics (using the site's SEARCH engine) and then edit the link to point to the current location. Until this is done, the site doesn't find the link and just returns you to the main page.

I'm still planning to get to this as soon as I can, but in the meantime the best approach is to click on the "Search" link near the top of the page, and enter the name of the topic you want to find. I think that most of the links Darwin listed are the actual topic names.

Of course if anyone else finds themselves with the time and inclination before I do, please feel free to re-post these references with the correct links!

You poor soul having all that looking up landed on you. I've moved a lot of them up to the top on LG and star chat forum.

Perhaps some others want to pull a few links up to add on here. Would be nice to have the Dar's shop open for business again because it saves newbies and oldbies a long time in searching.

Hi Lis, THANKS! This is a BIG help.

One thing I've noticed is that it is going to be very hard to update the links in Darwin's original post, because the thread names are not always the same as the legend he typed in ... so it's hard to be sure that updating any given link will actually point to the particular thread he had in mind.

What I'm thinking is that it might be easier to re-do the entire list (starting with the threads you've dug up and a few that I've located) rather than trying to update the links on the original ... UNLESS Darwin happens to be around and can disambiguate for us!

Heres a scarey thought, maybe you ought to open a seperate forum and move all the threads onto it as Dar's Astro shop

That way if the site ever changes names etc then the links will always work because they will be separate?

Just a though, it would be a royal paint o have to get these all on one post?

Yep, it's a haunted thread! (Actually, it's just a stupid piece of code that thinks anything with an @ symbol embedded is an email address!)

I'm really interested in getting this together, too, and Lis has already given us a great head start by digging up most of these threads and bringing them up in the list ... I've just been so durn busy and fragmented I haven't had a good block of time to compile them as a list ... but it's on the horizon soon, I promise!

Actually, Maria, I think I already posted the correct links for most of those on a thread that Tinkerbell started some time back. But there were still some that I wasn't sure of and hoped that Darwin would take care of those.

Sorry bout ghostville. It could be because Suchi whipped me up a batch of SQL syntax and I went to town restoring old smilies disconnected from the lindagoodman.net site and switching non-standard characters that have been showing up as question marks since the latest server move and a bunch of stuff. I ran those queries with everything that I could think of (so far) that would make lots of itty bitty changes speedily. You've got to love something that can do that! But now I'm plodding through finding all the guerilla ghost links ... to dream bowls from the Linda Goodman shoppe ... and the old Meet the Knowflakes. A bunch of Notices linking to the old page for the EMAIL POLICY. I've been picking through and just deleting some of those, but now I figure I'm happening on it enough, I'll zap it with SQL too and switch it over to the current page.

Three cheers for Suchi and SQL!
