I'm sure this movie has been discussed here but I couldn't find the thread.

As anyone who knows me knows, K-Pax is my new favorite movie. And as soon as I saw it the first time, it reminded me so much of Linda and Gooberz. So in doing all my obscessive research about something that really interests me I learn that Gene Brewer has a brother named Robert. Robert Brewer.

So...I dig through Gooberz and read that Robert Brewer has two brothers (though it does say that neither are MEDICAL doctors).
I also read that this book was written in the 50's but not published till 1995.

Greg, I guess this is mostly for you but do you have any idea if Gene's brother Robert is Linda's Robert?
It sure "feels" that way to me!

Thoughts anyone???

Oh Peggy...wow! Maybe you've stumbled onto something. I've never seen that movie, but since it reminds you of Linda and Gooberz I very much want to see it now....(sorry I'm not Greg, but he'll be along directly, I'm sure)...

I just wanted to clear something up so as not to be misleading. The plot line of K-Pax
didn't remind me of Linda and Robert, it just reminded me soooo much of their many discussions about soul pieces, saturn 7 cycles and "entertaining strangers unaware".

That said I think you should see it. I can't see how anyone who loves the possibilities that Linda Goodman presented us with would not just love this story.
And after you see it....will you post what you thought about it???

Interesting info!!! I loved K-PAX too!!! Except, being a psych major, I was looking more into the psychological aspects than anything about Linda. Hmmm... I should go back and watch it sometime with that in mind... Anyway, there was a thread where people's thoughts on the movie was discussed, but I don't remember what thread it was on.

On watchin this film, it wood become self-evident 2anyone with half a Soul, that Linda Goodman Herself wood have LOVED this film...becouse of what its sayin about US, da World, how we treat other...&esp how we perceive each other, constantly denying that we dont judge da book by da cover, yet secretly judging all da time...&thereby loseing sumthin very valuable, that we at 1st dismissed, becouse it looked/felt/thought or acted different/alien from `us` and our ways.

Yes, this film definetly confronts everyone of us with one of Linda Goodmans favourite quotes...

"Be carful to entertain strangers, for thereby some have entertained Angels unaware`s."

There is a distinct loss of `Innocence` that can bee seen in da Human Characters that Spacey Character crosses paths with in da film. I did`nt realise it b4, but its obvoius 2me now, that da `Innocence` inn people has been usurped&replaced with `Fear`.
WHICH CREATES FAR MORE DAMAGE THAN INNOCENCE LEFT 2HER OWN `DEVICE`S` EVER COULD OR WOOD.Nuff said.

I'm sorry I missed this thread the first time around... I LOVED the movie (especially since I worked in a psych hospital for 10 years) and own it. In fact I think it might be time to revisit it by watching it again.

Too bad no one was able to figure out if the author is related to Robert. Is Robert still alive?

This is my first actually post to CE! Although i've been a reader for some time now.

This subject interested me as there are a few people diggin into Linda's life on the linda-goodman.com site. So i thought i would take the next step seeing as no one else jumped at the opportunity.

I email Gene Brewer explaining to him that #1 Theres a curiousity of knowing if his Robert Brewer is Linda's Robert A. Brewer. His response was

--No. Not possible.
