I nearly forgot! This is really strange - while at a used bookstore, I saw "Gooberz" in the bin and picked it up. I looked at the back inside cover and saw a DIFFERENT PICTURE than all the other "Gooberz" books! Very different, indeed. Of course I snatched it up (it only cost $20.00 but I would have bought it no matter what it cost!) and now I have two copies. Both in hardcover, my very first one and this new altered one. Do any of you know why there would be two different pictures? Did I get an odd copy? I looked to see if there were any other differences and the only difference I saw was that on the title page, it read "In the year of our Lord, 1972" (I think that was the year). Oh - another "rule" that's not a rule about reading "Gooberz", just a suggestion -- write in it!!! Lots! Highlight, color, trace, underline, bold, jot, kiss with bright red lipstick! Anything to call attention to certain parts that call attention to you!! LMB

Hi LMB We have no explanation for this! The Gooberz that Linda wrote was published in 1989. But a very interesting, strange find! Aries*Kate*

I bought my copy of Gooberz when it came out in 1989, but a few years ago I came across what seemed to be a re-print, and I too noticed the different photo. In this one, Linda was holding a gorgeous cat. Also, I noticed that the reference to Gooberz being a piece of automatic writing was gone. That's something I've always wondered about. Was it really written so mysteriously? The text contains great mystery, but was its inception really so mystical? Thanks, KJS

Hello KJS, I think the picture of Linda Goodman with the beautiful cat was the one printed in most of the books - or at least all of the ones I've seen. What does your other book look like? What page is the reference to the automatic writing on? I forget. thanks, LMB

LMB, My copy--and most of the ones I've seen--have this lovely picture of Linda in a dark shirt with her hand on her face. To be honest, my copy of Gooberz is still in some boxes of books I have yet to unpack from my recent move. I'll let you know about the automatic writing reference when I find it. For sure, she describes it that way in Star Signs. Best, KJS

KJS, this is quite strange - the copy I think you have as your first one, I think, is the one I found that is "rare". I'll have to check this out at home. I go home this weekend and I have the "rare" one there. I'll get back to you, okay? LMB

LMB, As promised, here's what my copy of _Gooberz_ says on the title page: "as telepathically channeled during the months of April, May and June in the Year of our Lord 1972." This is what I noticed missing in the copy of the book you say is the more common one (with the picture of her holding the cat). I'm confused as to what this means since one of her proof readers (JC) said Linda began the book in 1967 and finished it in 1988. Does anyone have any insight on this? Also, why would the "telepathically channeled" reference appear in some copies of the book but not in others? Thanks! KJS

KJS - and more mystery abound! Yes, I looked at the "rare" book I found here at home and saw it was the "more common" book you say you have. Strange, indeed. I bought six copies of the hardcover "Gooberz" over the past four years and have given them away to dear friends and except for this "rare" one I found at the used bookstore, I have only encountered the one where she is holding her cat. And yes, the "rare" book I have does have the telepathically channeled part as you say whereas my other ones do not. That also confuses me because it was said here that she began to write the book prior to 1967. As Alice would say in Wonderland, "curiouser and curiouser..." LMB

Hello, These posts made me check my copy of Gooberz...not a hard thing to do since it hasn't left my bedside table since 1989 ..and, sure enough, mine has the picture without the cat and it has the bit about being "channeled" over several months. Curious that they would change these things. My copy is in rather bad shape after read and re-read so many times. I also use it to find "answers" to particular problems by just opening up to a page at random and reading...never fails to amaze me that this works. Has anyone else tried this? It works best with Gooberz and, to some extent, with Linda's poetry books. Love to You All

Hello Rhysling! Out of all Linda's books, "Gooberz" is my favorite...Like yourself, when I'm having trouble making a decision, or I need an answer, I pull "Gooberz" from my bookshelf....It's amazing...It doesn't matter whatever it is that's on my heart....I open "Gooberz", and there in black & white, will be Linda's words answering me! Anyone familiar with "Gooberz" should try this...It's UNCANNY... Love to All, Quazar

Dear Rhysling, Kate and the others, yes, the magic of "Gooberz" is immense ! However, there is nothing really uncanny simply because everything is so logical "beyond the fiction of fact lies truth?" You see, whenever you have a problem your own higher self searches for the answer to your solution and since we are all on the "linda goodman path" to spirituality, there is no doubt that our minds and hearts would turn to her writings for solace...so unconciously, our higher s-elf reaches out and gently guides us to the answer through our mediator - who is none other than Linda Goodman - a guru, so to say. We find the answer to what we already knew. Our higher s-elves are our own guardian angels...we learn by trusting them and tuning into them to fulfill our destiny. Actually, i don't mean to burst those bubbles of magic and mystery, but Linda always wanted us to "KNOW" the truth. Its definitely a beautiful feeling to realise once again what you had forgotten... nothing is uncanny, nothing happens without reason... everything is explained and just waiting for the time to be born again into each man and woman's heart on their endless journeys of re-v-elation.
