I am a pisces and for the last two years I've been going through hell and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. Then , I read this thing about saturn being in some house of mine causing the slowdown.I was amazed at the accuracy with which my condition has been described in this site.Could somebody tell me some more about this saturn's stay thing and when I can expect to get some relief.I know this is the wrong forum for this topic but please help me . in order to know what house Saturn is in,or any other planet,the exact birth place is needed. Then an astrologer can find the exact degree of the rising sign,which is what sets the starting point for the houses. Your question cant really be answered without it,sorry

Okay,I really don't know the place,only that its somewhere in eastern India. The nearest city would be Guwahati in Assam,I guess. Why is the place required?? Can't an approximation be made?? There are so many places which are not known unlike the big cities or which do not occur in maps,how are these accounted for then?? Please tell me more about ascendant. Whats that?? Sun-sign??

Hi Piscez!

In case, the place of birth does not appear on the atlas, the nearest town or city (which does appear on the atlas) is used. The nearer it is, the better.

As for your question about the Ascendant or Rising sign, no, it is not the same as the sun-sign. The sun-sign is the sign in which the sun was placed at the time of birth. Whereas the ascendant is the sign that was rising on the Eastern horizon at the time of your birth. The asc. determines your appearance, your outer behaviour and the way others perceive you. You can explore this site more by using the search option at the top right hand side of this page. Just type in "Ascendant" and see what you find. Better still, try the Glossary for such basic Astro terms.

Thanx for introducing me to that topic about scorpio rising. Its nice to know that there are others with similar feelings!! Most of the things discussed about scorp. rising people seems hopelessly true with me too(except that I am a guy).Like the thing you said about having very high expectations from friends and not having real friends but only 'many' acquaintances - its true with me a 100%. And somebody said something about getting hurt easily in friendship-thats true too.Oh God, I used to think I must be weird sort of guy and many times I even tried to change myself consciously but to no avail. I didn't know about ascendants earlier , atleast not fully. So,I was kinda amazed at such behaviour from myself(I am a pisces). Now I know. Can you tell me more about it??

Piscez, you said you are a Scorpio rising, and Scorpios can hypnotise themselves in and out of anything they wish too. Hence, I'd suggest that you stop calling yourself "A tired fish" (sorry, do i sound rude? I really dont mean to) and start thinking of yourself that combined the Fish and the Eagle (Scorpio) traits to soar high in the sky. I am sure that you can, and will, transcend all and any obstacles that you meet. Cheerio

When I wrote "a tired fish" in my first post , I was really tired.Then , I just , sort of , continued with it. And you are right about scorps being able to hypnotize themselves out of anything - I have done that myself many times.But at that point of time,I was just crushed , literally. I'll stop using it.

Just to simplify matters for you, ascendant is called "Lagna" in india. If you happen to have a Panjika of the year of your birth, just look up the lagna under your date.

And, it is 12:55 in the afternoon or night. I am just confirming, coz I wanted to draw up a chart for you.

And I do relate to the feeling of being the only weirdo to behave in that manner. And talking to my Scorp Rising friends here, really cleared all that up for me.

As, for your birth-chart, it looks like Ani will draw one up for you by the Indian style. Around here, everybody follows the Western method. And both the charts differ. Like I'm a Scorpio with a Scorpio Asc. and Pisces moon as per Western Astro. But vedic gives me a Libra sun and Asc. and an Aquarius moon. You can draw up a western-style chart for yourself right here on this site. Just click on the free natal chart option on the home-page and enter your birth-details. Use Guwahati for the place of birth, if you still don't know the actual place of birth. This chart will give you your planet positions.

Oh, and I'm glad you've stopped adding "a Tired fish" in your posts. It always sort of depressed me to see you end your posts that way. Must be my Pisces moon. Yesterday, I nearly asked you to stop doing it, but then thought it might sound rude. Thanks Ani, for saying it so well.

I tried cities from Madras to Calcutta and your rising continously shows Sag rising. That would put your natal Saturn in the 8th house and your transiting Saturn in your 6th house of work. Regardless, Saturn hasn't been too bad to you in the last year but you might have that beat up feeling right now since it's conjuncting your Sun.

I finally found Guwahati in Assam in th world atlas and it still shows you have a Sag rising of 14*41" in Western astrology. The coordinates are 26.02N and 91.07E in case you want to get your chart done again. It makes what I told you last night accurate. Picez, You are responsible for your life and the planets merely incline, they do NOT compel. The transits ARE in your favor. If you choose to utilize that energy for the best is completely up to yOu. I didn't say you were married now, I said it was a definite possibility in this year or next year given the birth data you gave me. If you don't demonstrate Sag rising traits, then you should get your correct birth data from your mother or birth certificate. I can only go on birth data given. I was only trying to help for FREE when I charge members on my own astrology site. Most people are gracious for my free help and paid help for that matter.

Just for the record, there is really a BIG difference between Western astrology and Vedic ... although the two have common roots, they have diverged over the centuries. Both ani and Auriel are correct about your ascendant, each using their respective systems. You are Scorpio rising in Vedic and Sagittarius rising in Western. However, in Vedic astrology, your Sun sign is not Pisces, but Aquarius (as ani identified)! So it sounds like you are mixing placements from the two different systems, which will not make sense.

Vedic astrology uses the physical constellations as the basis for the Zodiac, while Western astrology uses the Vernal equinox as the "starting point" for the sign of Aries. Over 2,000 years ago, these two systems coincided, but due to the "precession of the equinoxes" caused by wobble in the Earth's rotation, they are now approximately a full sign different, depending on where you draw the "ayanamsha" (the difference between the tropical and sidereal zodiacs ... which is uncertain itself, because unlike the vernal equinox that can be measured exactly, there is no measurable "line" between constellations where you can say definitely that one ends and the next one begins!)

Both systems have value, but they have different calculations, methods, and purposes, and they CANNOT be mixed meaningfully. Western astrology is more psychologically oriented, and focuses on understanding personality, potentials, and times when certain activities or departments of life will be easier or more difficult ... it aims to provide an understanding of the forces that act on you, with an eye to adjusting yoursef to the circumstances and making the most of whatever influences are affecting you. Vedic astrology, on the other hand, focuses more on prediction of specific events, and emphasizes destiny over free will.

As a result, both the planetary placements AND the way in which the placements are interpreted by the two systems are quite different!

Hope this confusing information somehow makes things less confusing.
