Hello Gregory,

Been pondering, like you do, when you're waiting for stuff to happen.

My first thought is the shop, I know this has been talked about in other threads. I think having a shop is great in principle (but I don't think that face cream is fitting for it's shelves), however I'm a business graduate, I understand ends need to meet to make the powerful 0's that let the site run and grow and develop etc.

May I suggest that perhaps a broadening of products into tinctures, aromatherapy oils and recommended reading might be more appropriate? I'm thinking that seeing as you guys hold Linda's copyright perhaps you have more clout to start getting old books reprinted? I think they may well be difficult to dispatch, but it's only a suggestion.

My second purpose is to worry (I had a boss who used to call me worry bead;o), I see from one of the other threads that you're planning a blizzard of knowflakes in Cripple Creek.

Cognitively - this sounds a splendid idea - a fantastic way to unite people around the site.

But I'm a wee bit worried about the invasion of tourists on the residents, was this place not a retreat from the world? And with a blizzard so deep we might give the locals frostbite or cause an avalanche?

Sorry if this seems to be a bit of a wet blanket post

Lots of love

Lis

Tinkerbell,

What do you mean, "a blizzard of Knowflakes" in Cripple Creek? Is there a get-together being planned that I wasn't invited to????????????

Hi Nephthys - WAY too hard to spell that!

I'll tell if you tell how you get the Faeries to stick on your page???? only kidding!

Em - it was on another thread - in Linda's forum. It was one of those shooting star ideas that out web masters of the galaxies had thoguht up - a conference to meet everyone etc. I think it's still in it's star flake phase.

I was just a wee bit concerned about 1000's of people showing up in a backwater - haven of tranquillity. I'm sure if anythign happens we'll all hear about it.

Take care for now

Lot of Love

Lis

PS N - the thread is called linda's home - Jasons question.

Hi there, Lis,
I've been enjoying your bright, shiney posts around the forums.

And hi Nephthys,
Fun to see you in either incarnation.

By way of introduction, I've been hanging out here in Lindaland, off and on, since back in the days when you could actually keep track of all the threads. It's amazing how fast the place has taken off.

I don't think I've ever started a thread here in the public forums. I guess I'm more a Mary Poppins sort -- I pop in where I feel I'm being called and then pop out again.

Being a local here in the Cripple Creek district, when people on the forums first started talking about coming out here I have to admit I was kind of like "umm, well, gee," and like Lis said, not exactly eager for a blizzard. (Thanks for your consideration, Lis, truly!)

But the fact is, this area has always counted on an element of tourism to help make it tick. And, as I wrote to Rainbow over on The Sky Laughs Today thread, [Sorry, oudated link! Use search engine.]000928.html" , the crowds coming in for the casinos and mining history seem (to me) to co-exist with us in a kind of layered-on separate reality that really doesn't detract from the peaceful smallness of the community.

Anyway, as long as we've got crowds coming through, methinks, wouldn't it be nice if one of those crowds were a group of spiritually minded folks, like those on LG.net, bringing a loving energy to town?

So that's where I am with the idea now, and I've offered privately to Greg and Crystal to function as an on-site coordinator, a go-between for the site and all the various sorts of people and services in and around town who could help make this go smoothly. They basically said, "Yes! Let's do it, but not right this minute." Among other things, I write from time to time for our little newspaper, so I'm pretty well-versed on who does what around the area. I have brought the idea up to one top-level Cripple Creeker and gotten a positive response. The town is pretty well set up, with transportation, lodgings, meeting places, etc., for this type of gathering, and my guess is it won't actually turn out to be thousands who make the trip. That WOULD be unwieldy.

It will take some lead time, not only for the LG.net personnel but also here "on the ground," because Cripple Creek does host other festivals and such, and scheduling will be important. So I guess that's just another reason to stayed tuned.

Popping out now,
Hugs,
WriteOn

WriteOn,

Thank you for your post - sorry to have been such a rain cloud, but I was a bit concerned.
I know quiet areas are reliant on tourists, but as you said - the site attracts one or two visitors - and I'm sure that a lot of people would love to come.

I'm totally with you re a very long lead time - for one I'm not even in the US so I'd need to save up and jangle the piggy bank.

I'm sure it would be perfectly marvilous though - just imagine - All that maGic!

Thank you for not beeing disheartedned by my rain cloud - It wasn't ment that way & I'm glad you didn't see it that way either.

I've had a few sneaky peeks at your mail when your around (some of them were in the archive from way back), It's nice to have someone around who has such a familiarity with Lindas world.

Much love and hug - and I hope you had a nice time out.

Lis

PS (later that is) WO, I'm really whacked - so Sorry for niot giveing your post the full attention it deserves - maybe in the moring. Nite.....

tinkerbell,

Hi! You can post any image that is on the Internet. For example, look for a website that has animations. use the code after. If it is confusing, go into edit of my post with the kitty and you'll see.
Have fun!

Oh - I wanted to tell you, when I was little and my parents took me to Disneyland, it was a big deal to wait to see tinkerbell fly by at night. She was real and very pretty. She had a sparkly wand and was smiling and had a cute pink outfit on. She flew by at night above us. It was neat.

Bye!

~Nephthys

Hi Neph!

Thank you for that - I'm not really good at ataching stuff - I need to do some practice.

I'm a natuarally sparkly type - who's lost her luster shall we say for quite some time now. (Doggie break up with an ex - knocked it out of me for a long while).

But recently - in the last few weeks I took a tip an it seems to have restored it a good bit. We don't have a sparkly face wich is a shame - but I'll take your advice and surf the net.

Thank you for letting me in on the secret of your sucess.

Lots of love

Lis

Hi folks, great conversation going on here. WriteOn thanks for jumping in about the proposed Cripple Creek get-together. I too am sensitive about not overwhelming the town with LG fans, but considering the distance and expense of a trip like that I really don't think we're likely to draw a HUGE crowd ... if it turns out otherwise, we could organize it into separate smaller trips, I do agree it shouldn't be a massive convention, just a happy gathering!

I did want to say something about using graphics from other sites here. I don't have any problem with it at all, but the folks who run the other sites that the graphics come from might! Don't forget that whenever an image from another site appears here, it takes some computer power and bandwidth from THEIR site to display their image on OUR site. If thousands of folks on our site are viewing an animated image from another site "behind the scenes" like this, it can be unfair to the other site. The best way to deal with this is to ask the people who run the other site for permission to copy their images, then download them and send them to me so I can put them up on OUR server --- that way it's not taking advantage of anybody else. If everyone would like to do this, I can create a separate folder for neat images that we can use, and give everybody a list of them so they can be inserted into messages. What do you think?

Love,
Greg

Greg,

That's a smashing idea - cos then I might get them to actually work - dough !

I take your and WriteOn's point about it not being so over welming for the district - I was just a little concerned that's all.

LoL
