Quest for a Global Ethic: Can We Agree on What's Good?
by Maria Barron
Discussions
of good and evil, of right and wrong, are central both to religion and to the
branch of philosophy known as Ethics. Swiss-born theologian Hans Küng is a 76-year-old student and
teacher of both subjects. The author of 50 books of scholarly exploration on
the subject of beliefs, he has devoted his recent years to building peace on
Earth in his own lifetime, urging humanity to build on a solid footing of
already existing common ground the shared values across cultures that he
calls the Global Ethic.

Power Days of October by Anindita Basu and Maria Barron
It once happened a long time ago that Prince Raam,
his wife and a brother, during the course of their wandering, came upon a place
near the southernmost part of India. Prince Raam had been exiled for 14 years,
and almost 12 years were over now. Struck by the beauty of the place, the trio
decided to spend the remaining part of the exile here before embarking north
upon the return trip home.

Twelve Secrets About Signs
by Blain Bovee
Hey Babe! Whats your
sign? Apart from a lame pickup line, engaging in conversation about
astrological signs is decidedly bereft of high impact effect. Youve heard it
all before. A friend at a patio party laments The guy Im dating is
interesting, but he is a Scorpio and Im a Leo, so I dont see much future in

Digging Into Life on My Summer Vocation, Part 2 by FishKitten
Once Sky Woman left, I decided to walk back down to the dock and check on my gear. Just
as I got there, Al and a man named Denis (pronounced De-nee) drove up in a
van. As I mentioned in Part 1, Al was the head of this archaeology project.
Denis was Als partner and was sort of co-in-charge. He is a large man, half
native and half French, with the oddest hair Ive ever seen. It is jet black
all over except for a snow-white semi-circle that runs right across his front
hairline. I waved them over. (more)

Meditation and Mind Control by Gregory Ellison
If there is a single practice that is common to almost every
spiritual tradition, it is meditation, and with good reason. Spiritual growth and
awareness depends on going within to experience a more authentic reality than
the separative and ego-dominated material world, and the gateway to this inner
reality is meditation.

Conscious Community
by Anindita Basu
One sees them everywhere: the nay-sayers.
They think the world has gone to pieces. What are things coming to? theyll
remark with a mournful shake of their heads. In the good, old days
things
were supposedly bigger, better, stronger. Bigger hearts, better morals and
stronger principles. Things these days, on the other hand, are narrower, meaner
and darker.
