Happy Chinese New Year: Year of the Wood Rooster
by S. J. Lindquist-Hellman
If youve already blown your New Years resolution, youll have a second chance to start anew February 9 when the Chinese Lunar New Year begins. The calendar used in Chinese astrology begins with the second New Moon after the winter solstice, so the Chinese New Year doesnt fall on the same date each year, but it is always in January or February. People born under the western astrological signs of Capricorn and Aquarius will have to look up their birth dates to be certain in which Chinese year they were born, because Chinese astrology is based on year of birth.

The Feasts and Festivals of February 1, 2, and 3 by Tracey Couto
For those in the Northern Hemisphere, the month of February is associated with frigid temperatures and long dark nights. Winter is in full swing and most creatures have either hibernated or departed for warmer climates. Yet even in this most desolate time of year, tiny signs of spring begin to sprout. The promise of spring fills us with hope that light and warmth will return and breathe life back into the world once again. For our half-starved ancestors shivering in their ill-equipped homes, this was cause for celebration.

February Star Watch by Tracey Couto
Welcome, one and all, to the chilly but lovely month of February! This is the month associated with flowers, candy and Valentine cards. Its the time of year when we share tokens of our love with that special someone who warms our hearts and completes our souls. It is also the heart of winter up north, when bone-chilling winds and freezing snow keep us indoors and snuggled before a warm toasty fire, wrapped in the warm and loving arms of our amour.

Astrology Answers: Q&A
by Terri Smallwood
I love practicing astrology. I love looking for patterns and correlations between our lives and the movements of the planets and stars. I love how our charts are a reflection of the mysterious workings of the Universe as a whole the synergistic relationship between the comparatively small thing of one single individual and the great macrocosm of sky and space and time. Its a vast and complex subject, and exploring its intrigues opens a doorway to a lifetime of learning and discovery.

This statement used to puzzle me, until I realised that Hinduism is a thoroughly practical religion that incorporates everything for everyone, right from the toddler-equivalent to the evolved sage on the verge of Nirvana. The milieu that gave rise to this religion also gave rise to that branch of science referred to as Vedic Astrology. The underpinnings of this science are rooted in the deepest of knowledge; however, that knowledge also strives to make itself understood to the lesser-evolved souls like us who, instead of searching out the true mission of our lives as reflected in our horoscopes, would more often read our horoscopes in search of the material benefits that this life can give us. Conscious Community by Terri Smallwood
See, for us, the struggle is over. Its been more than 60 years since western countries really had to fight to protect their democracies. We live easy lives filled with easy distractions. Our governments, though far from faultless, dont go out of their way to disrupt the ease of our comfortable existence. I think in this absence of danger and outside threat weve become the biggest danger to our own way of life.
