Star Watch

Welcome, one and all, to a month that begins with the Sun and Venus traveling together through the sign of Aries, coloring our core essence and love nature with an energy that is active, impulsive and initiating. The first half of the month will be about having the courage to start new projects or exercise programs that will better define the self. Some may even begin new jobs and relationships at this time, or take existing ones to a new and more exciting level.

The Sun and Venus oppose Jupiter in Libra on the 2nd, urging you to find a balance between solo activities and having fun times and good conversation with your significant other. The Sun and Venus sextile Neptune in Aquarius between the 4th and 6th, increasing the spontaneous flow of creativity, intuition and romance. The Sun-Venus team then moves on to square Saturn in Cancer from the 7th to the 9th, when family and domestic responsibilities slow down the progress of your personal projects and activities. Their trip through Aries ends with a trine to Pluto in Sagittarius between the 10th and 13th, making this a time when love becomes deeper and more intimate and identities are transformed from the new things learned and experienced.

Venus enters the responsible and reliable sign of Taurus on the 15th, and the Sun follows suit on the 19th. Our focus turns toward working hard to build a secure future for ourselves. Love becomes more sensual, possessive and enduring, and hard-earned money tends to be spent on luxury items for the rest of the month. Venus squares Chiron in Aquarius on the 17th, bringing painful matters of the heart out for healing. Venus sextiles Uranus in Pisces on the 22nd and 23rd and inconjuncts Jupiter in Libra on the 24th, making this a great weekend to take a fun and exciting romantic getaway with your lover, with the effects lasting until the following weekend when the Sun contacts these same planets. Venus squares Neptune in Aquarius on the 29th, urging you to stay alert and keep an extra close eye on your heart and your wallet to avoid falling prey to possible deception.

Mercury, the planet in charge of communication, learning and our day-to-day travels, is pretty quiet this month. That’s because Mercury has been moving in retrograde (backward) motion in the bold and assertive sign of Aries since the 19th of March and will remain retrograde until April 11. During this three-week period, which occurs every three months, the time is right for reviewing the things learned and the words exchanged since the last retrograde ended December 20, and looking at what needs clarifying or resolving. This is Mercury’s signal to use to rest and recharge our mental batteries and research and plan for the next cycle. It is typical for messages to be misunderstood, to experience delays and detours while commuting, and for computers, phones, faxes and vehicles to break down at this time. Mercury returns to direct motion on the 12th and spends the rest of the month building back up to his usual speed and agility. Mercury sextiles Chiron in Aquarius while retrograde on the 6th and 7th, and again on the 16th and 17th while direct, making these great times to heal any friendships that may have been damaged by the exchange of harsh and angry words that were taken the wrong way. Mercury opposes Jupiter in Libra on the 27th, making this a fun day to enjoy animated and light conversation with others.

Mars, the planet associated with action and sexual activities, is in the wild and crazy sign of Aquarius for the entire month, making this a time when our sexual encounters will be truly out of this world and our spontaneous and unpredictable actions will shock everyone around us. Mars trines Jupiter in Libra on the 6th and 7th, which makes for a fun and exciting couple of days to spend with friends or our significant others. Mars moves on to conjoin Neptune from the 11th to the 13th, suggesting romantic bliss that will make your heart beat faster. This would also be a good time for delving and tuning into projects that require a creative hand. Mars inconjuncts Saturn in Cancer from the 16th to the 18th: a time when domestic concerns can put a damper on the fun and excitement we’d rather be having. But not to worry, Mars sextiles Pluto in Sagittarius on the 21st and 22nd, setting the scene for a wild and passionate weekend that will deepen the intimacy experienced in your sexual relationship.

The Moon phases this month are more powerful than usual because they are eclipsed. Any new projects or programs initiated at the New Solar-Eclipsed Moon in Aries on the 8th will surely bloom and come to full fruition about three months later. Be sure to utilize this amazing energy to start something wonderful and new that you want to see prosper and grow. The Eclipsed Full Moon in Scorpio on the 24th is a time when the rewards of all joint efforts put forth into the building of finances and intimacy will become apparent to you. Also look to the beginning of August as a time to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Have a happy and prosperous April everyone and Blessed Be!
